apple, NEC, whatever, all are stuff that comes out of a factory. sure got some units that doesnt perform as good as it should. chargers, laptops, cars, etc. that's why we have warranty

so just bcuz yours died within 9 months, doesnt mean all apple charger died in 9 months. u cant talk about quality without using any sort of statistics

-For monitors I'm not sure, I think you have to buy a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect to a monitor, maybe some other more experienced member can comment on this.
*
you need a miniDP-to-HDMI adapter

Im going uni in mid 2012. so ill wait and see if a newer mba will come out. if it does ill get it for sure.
*
if mid 2012 then u may want to wait until april/may... assuming u dont need a laptop urgently right now. there will be new intel processors coming out on april/may... but dunno if apple is going to debut it in MBA, MBP or iMac first

any idea if this adapter is still available in any of the Apple resellers? cause I can't seem to find it on the online Apple Store...  hmm.gif

i noticed the online store doesnt sell 3rd party stuff as much as they did before. no wonder why

but yes i do see miniDP-to-HDMI converters at most resellers. i think around rm80-rm150

Thanks a lot! smile.gif
The price of the MacBook does not include the softwares like microsoft office or photoshop.
*
how much is microsoft and photoshop? do you know?
*
ergh u dont NEED to install stuff until 2k +_+

depends what u need la. if a software costs 2k, then it's 2k, doesnt matter what computer are u using. of course u are free to find cheaper / free alternatives

hi guys, been reading first 10 pages of this thread. will continue reading later tonight.

question, i plan to get a mba 13" possibly next friday. is it wise to get it now or should i wait for a new version?

there's been rumor/news of a new version in early 2012. what you guys think?
http://9to5mac.com/2011/11/28/digitimes-ma...h-model-coming/

not really in hurry, just that thinking to get one since i wanted a personal laptop to do personal stuffs like downloading stuffs, watching movie, surfing and playing some rounds of dota. would want to play diablo 3 with it too once it's out for sale.
now just thinking if there would be a new mba, would it come with usb3.0 coz now thunderbolt external hdd are not that universal plug and play and they are really expensive.
*
that 'early' 2012 will be earliest april, according to intel

not really sure about USB sad.gif but i have high hopes lah. intel support, might as well go for it right?

MBA doesnt follow a 1-year cycle. but i think apple would upgrade iMac or MBP 1st with ivy bridge...MBA n mac mini later on

if im not mistaken, those having usb3.0 right now need to rely on 3rd party controllers (i think lah) since intel havent support it yet. what's supposed to be significant for ivy bridge is the integrated graphics and low power consumption. see lah how later

you could be right about the usb 3.0 part

"USB 3.0 will also be included in PCs based on Ivy Bridge, said Kirk Skaugen, vice president and general manager for Intel's Data Center Group, during a keynote Wednesday at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing"

yeah, but im just worried apple dont want to support USB 3.0 bcuz wanna push thunderbolt +_+

Hi guys , i been using laptop with so many year , dunno why feel that it getting slow & slow by day , never have such problem with desktop but facing with laptop , like after a year using , the processor macam drop become pentium 2 only =.=" , not as smooth as the first day purchase this laptop

so my question , will macbook pro facing this problem? Because i wish it can last for maybe 2~3 year? Upgrading every year will damage my pocket =(  Or funding for an iMac will be a good choice? hehe
*
maybe ur heatsink too dusty? faulty hard drive? or just too many useless crap in ur OS? have u tried reformatting ur PC?

imac and macbookpro... uh one is desktop one is laptop, really cannot say which one is a better choice haha. depends on ur needs bro smile.gif but yes i find macs more stable. my MBP is 3 years now still running great. but then the 3 year old desktop im typing on right now is running great as well tongue.gif

i see dead people red color light coming from the earphone hole from the MBP. Is that normal?
*
the port serves as a normal audio out and also optical audio. if red light means it's in optical audio 'mode'.

look properly into the port and u'll see some sort of a switch inside. u might accidentally switched it to optical. play around with the switch, i dont remember u're supposed to turn it which way tongue.gif takes a few tries though

it's one of the things i hope apple revise for the next macbook pro redesign

which aren't accurate enough for professional software users who needs colour accuracy and a high colour gamut level. which is why it's funny when some opt for the HIGH RES MATTED options on their machines just for the sake of getting all the bells and whistles rather than necessity then go "ahmagawd the colours are horribal". a higher colour gamut and accuracy running on stock rgb would fool our eyes. seeing blue as magenta for instance. tongue.gif
sorry for the ramble ._.

Hi everyone! i got my macbook pro 13' today =). However, i have a question here.

When i charge my macbook, and lightly touch or move my hand across the surface of the palm rest or the aluminum lid, i can hear the 'ting ling' sound like current flow. Is there any people experience this before? or is that normal? =/
*
if u felt the static, u have to use the charger extension cable. the one with the 3 metal prongs. the extra prong is for grounding

but if u can actually hear it, i think that's not normal at all

have read reviews and see photographs of screen with and without it.

now still not sure should i buy it or not. hrm...
the glare is a bit annoying. but other than that the screen looks great.

may i ask, most ppl here having macbook pro or air, do u all get irritated by the screen glossiness?
*
even if there's the rainbow effect, quite hard to capture it on photo

and yeah im irritated by it. using capdase antiglare SP now. judging by PS's iphone antiglare SP, i would say same quality lah
