using samsung right now. average temps of samsung drives are 40'c. but if u touch it not so hot. about the same heat as my maxtor, which shows 30'c. maybe the temp probe at different place compared to other hdds. i wanna try hitachi, wd or seagate. got 2 old seagate hdds. 10gb and 40gb.

QUOTE(6GDominator @ Sep 14 2006, 01:47 AM) SATA beat SATA2 scores eh? really? but i don think SATA's speed in reading and writing is faster than SATA2 lah. hwm reviewed it. hitachi sata beat most sata2 hdd scores. forgot about reading and writing speeds. QUOTE(peachmonkey @ Sep 14 2006, 01:47 AM) Hi all!! if the casing is a 2.5 inch casing, it should fit most notebook hdds. I need some advise on laptop external hardisk. Not really sure where to post so I thought of trying my luck here. If this isn't the correct place, admins please move the post For external laptop hardisk what brands should I be looking at? And I understand that not all casings support every hardisk capacity. Meaning a casing that can support 30GB may not be able to support a 80GB hardisk right? Any other things I should be wary of? Thanks! |

120 terabyte??? nope. the max in production for normal hdds are 750gb (0.75terabytes).... the stuff ppl doing research on that can store huge amounts of data per square inch isnt silicon.

QUOTE(6GDominator @ Sep 24 2006, 11:02 PM) i got one fan in the rear of the casing. i got see space in front of the casing and put 8cm or 12cm fan inside. but in front of the casing don have space to contact to outside. can it work well if i put a cooler fan there? cause it does not suck the cool air from outside lah. most casings have a hole at the front bottom part of the casing to suck in air. i just found that out after a friend told me. as long as there is air circulation ok edi. not really need fresh air from outside. |

using a CM LED silent fan for my hdds. 12cm, 42.73CFM, air pressure 1.56mmH20, 22db, 1220rpm. 30000hours life, sleeve bearing. ball bearing is better and lasts longer, but 30000 hours is more than enough for me...
