Not too sure about Penang, but was told it is 10x the fees. I think this should be applicable to everywhere.

You can get started on the interiors first while waiting for the exterior's approval.
That is what I'll be doing.

Depend what is the coffee / tea rate in Penang. If they come 1 time a week is luck. But if they come 3 times a week good luck.

These people are very sharp and have lots of eyes around.

You mean ask for coffee/tea beside penalty? If they already fine, do we still need to pay coffee/tea $$?

No hacking internal is ok. If it make noise and got people complain they have the right to summon you.

If they come, usually is coffee fees. If give summon than no coffee loh. They can issue stop work order too.

Look like i might end up with summon and stop work order until I get the permit. If just summon with continue renovation, sound better.

If they come 3 times a week give you summon. You do the math. Is not one summon for a renovation. It can come many times.

Do you mean the summon is not one time deal? They will continue to issue summon as long i continue the renovation?

You can. Your neighbours may or may not complain (talk to them first). but you can.

Small things with 1/2 hours drilling, knocking or noise is not much a problem. Problem when you drill and make noise whole day.

As for my case, my neighbor run tuition from 3pm - 7pm, so I instruct my contractor no hacking or minimal hacking after 3pm. Even got permit also got to have curtsy.

In selangor, the fee is RM200 which makes the penalty RM2,000.

Most important is to get along with your neighbours and be courteous as they're the ones living next to the noise.

Is just like traffic summon, can even come twice a day. So better get permit if have major renovation. Not worth paying summon or even coffee
