Big thanks bro for this rom! I actually tried out rom913 before upgrading to this and its definitely faster and more stable! Lots of lag in 913. However i did notice 913 had Malay language, does 978 have malay also? and 913 battery consumption was actually really high  shocking.gif

Just Chinese and English. But this is the best ROM for me for now. Waiting for an official ICS release for Malaysia.

I see, 913rom got lots of languages and seems to me more apps as well, plus lock screen is like Huawei GB rom lock, got 4 icons to unlock plus the top can slide to get music player on the lock screen

I think the B913 is the Russian ROM. It does have a lot of languages, more apps. They discussed in the xda-dev forum.

Still waiting for the release said this 11th May. icon_rolleyes.gif

can't wait either. Time to backup settings and application settings.

I always prefer to do full clean new installation without any old app setting. SMS and data backup is a must though.

In any way, can't wait for a new ROM to have to play around again!

Maybe :-
Super cheap phone = bad phone specs/quality + bad services
Cheap phone = good phone specs/quality + bad services
Medium phone = medium phone specs/quality + bad services
expensive phone = good phone specs/quality + bad services
rip your pocket phone = good phone specs/quality + good services

I have purchased products from China quite a number of times and I learnt one thing, we would not get everything as they are cheaper. Sometimes I pray for the quality of the product to be durable as to avoid unnecessary return of warranty.

Well if Huawei promised 11th May 2012 a new ICS update will be put out for Malaysian/Global Honor phones then we should ask them where is it but do not blame them if it catch a delay as these kind of things do happens with them.

I got bored and downgraded all the way to 2.3.6.

The response is much faster now, and battery life much better. I will wait for official and also after everyone has tested the ICS.

Win XP = Android 2.3.6
Win Vista = ICS

I will follow you very soon. Start to feel tired of the ICS problems (unexpected app stop, freezes and so on..).

There's time to play around with GB 2.3.6. Currently done converting to it from ICS 4.0.3.

Its fun with Android, you can just keep changing the OS back and forth. LOL... feel like formatting a PC.

adfy, tell me once you fiddle around with the official firmware.

While changing is nice, seeing that its a phone i use often, dont feel like fiddling much with it.

I used B865 first (so called Malaysia Official but no Malay language???) and found that it has two extra feature : TouchPal Key Input and Security Guard. So, I backup both and set them aside.

Then I changed to B866 and restore both the backup apps. So, I got all the feature I want plus the Malay language (though I never used it... weird huh). But it seems TouchPal Key Input crashes too much. I am still trying to find out why.

To me, Huawei Launcher is not good enough. The dock icon slots only have 2 that can be used. I want to put 4 at least. The folder icon is no changeable and stock. No automatic grouping when two icons are being put closely together. No auto sorting in the app drawer.

FTL Launcher also uses stock folder so all the characteristics are the same. I am going to have to use some other launcher. Maybe Regina is a good candidate. I had fun using it before.

Go Launcher is more rich in feature but also more heavier. I guess I am a bit picky in using and optimizing resources. Some thing you just have to sacrifice to get good looks.

If ICS 4.0.3 can be more stable, ran my list of apps without glitch I would happily go for it in the future. So, lets see what Huawei is cooking soon!

Using Go launcher at the moment and i agree. Feature rich but a bit on the heavy side. But so far no satisfactory replacement for it just yet.

Try using the TSF Launcher. Its a bit different but the speed is smooth.

Guys, any idea how to save my game saved files from getting wiped after doing a downgrade to GB or upgrade to ICS without rooting? Cause the last time I had defenders, world of goo and angry birds and after I downgraded to GB all my levels and upgrades were reseted and I was really mad.
*
First thing you should do before downgrading is to check up the directories of the games you want to save up the savegames.

1. Defenders
2. World of Goo
3. Angry birds

Try to find the savegame file/folder that might hold up your current game state or progress. Copy them out or just copy the whole sdcard and then take note of the files to copy them back later when you have installed the games.

Remember to do All Backup too for your SMS backup. I personally did not reuse the system settings or others as I am downgrading from ICS to GB. All I restore is SMS, alarm.

Good luck in downgrading!

First impression.. laggy. Or because using GB before this? Seems there is no English(Malaysia) like before. Got Malay language option. Automatic software restore with Google. Never happen before. Slow response. Sigh... it feels like Honor is not meant to use ICS. Why oh why the slow response???

Oh well.. back to GB now. Trying the B865 Malaysia version. If not good then back to the internal B866 version.

Currently I have not yet seen a phone with good ICS implementation. All is still in beta release or with bugs. ICS is nice but Huawei definitely need to put more focus in getting it done properly before putting out the releases.

I used ICS and found they are more nicer to GB but in the end the need for speed and stability overcomes. GB more stable, rarely app crashes and no auto reboot/hang so far. Where else the ICS frequent hang/auto reboot/app crashes. Its like Windows Vista/Me all over again LOL.

So... stick with Windows XP/7. Much more stable...

p/s : I mean GB... biggrin.gif

Tried the new ICS beta ROM for Malaysia and it was horrible. It's like living in hell for 2 days. It crashes every hour with ANY app, even the stock browser, and I did not have access to my computer, so couldn't downgrade it.

But the beta ROM felt really nice to use if it was more stable and not so laggy, because I was quite happy using it for the first few hours because there weren't many crashes and stuff. The ability to rearrange app icons in the application tray was a nice bonus, and it was much much more polished - Asthetically - then the GB ROM.

Do hope they can finally bring us the ICS rom as soon as possible.

If you really want to use ICS I would suggest using the B978 version. It is the most stable one I have tried. Not too many hang/crashes depending on what app you're using.

I can't really tell about the touch screen. Feel's like Huawei Honor touch screen is a bit erratic.. sometimes its too sensitive and sometimes it just doesn't respond well.

Maybe my hand is too big... zzz

Or... maybe I need to get a bigger screen phone. Like 4.3 inch or 5 inch...

Anybody got the B866SP01 ROM that has quicksetting controls with lesser language selection available?? I flashed on my phone but I can't seem to find the ROM anymore... zzz need to flash another phone with it....

The different of both B866SP01 ROM that I have flashed are :-

1. In Settings-->Display there is an option to tick "Notification settings"
2. In Settings-->Language & keyboard-->Select language the list is shorter than the one that are downloaded from the huawei international site.

As I've written in this post. (Below in gray)
After the purple screen part I cant continue. But I dont know how come i still can use my phone. But it looks like an ICS software. But can't do anything much.

HELP!!! I've downloaded the 2 files

miui_Honor_2.2.23_20 (zip file)
&
Honor_tools (unzipped file)

I've copied the dload file, updated, deleted the dload file and done until the purple screen part plug in the cable and replace the recovery file form the Honor_tools file from the original folder into the 1 into the phone?

Then i unplugged my battery and replug it back. I manage to wipe my data and clear my cache but then I'm stuck at the "install zip from sd card" part.

I realised the "miui_Honor_2.2.23_20 (zip file)" isnt in my phone. So i transferred it from my comp to my phone. But then after that i can go back to this place anymore although i clicked both volume up and power button simultaneously.

HOW? HELPPP!!!

Added on March 29, 2012, 6:08 pmI think I know what my problem is. I'll try to Flash MIUI 1 more time and see whether it's succesfull or not.

Hi Dan Peng,

Can you share the Honor_tools file? I need it.

Thanks!

Why would you use B866? I tried it seems clutteres and messy with lots of unwanted apps. Isn't B865 better? This is the one that came with the phone when it was just released here in Malaysia right? The stock 1?

BTW I need help, something is wrong with my phone. Yesterday my phone battery went dead. So i plugged it in to charge and left it there. After 1 hour when i checked back, the red notification light was blinking and I needed to use my phone so i unplugged it (it was still off at that time). But when i try to boot it it wouldn't. Then i googled and it ask me to removed the battery and plug in the charger and then try to start it again then put back the battery to charge. I manage to boot the phone with the battery removed. But when i inserted the battery back in it it wouldn't charge. Also when it is on with the plug without the battery, i couldn't get any network signal. But when i insert the battery the signal comes back. What is the problem? Also i notice that my battery is slightly bent (dont know whether it has always been like that or because i dropped it 2 days back.)

Is the 2 yrs warranty national or do i have to go back to the shop where i purchased the phone?

You want to flash into MIUI? But it is chinese site. Can you read?

Nevermind. I downloaded a newer version of Huawei Honor_Tools.zip.

However I did not find the file I wanted.

Actually, I am looking for an UPDATE.APP that has the patch to put quick setting switches to the notification area (Wifi, GPS, Data...) or the B866SP01 ROM that has the quick setting switches embedded inside.

Weird thing is, I have this two Huawei Honor that I have flashed both with the B866SP01 ROM where one has the switches in the notification area, has the menu option to enable/disable the notification settings inside the Display Menu in the Settings and also have about 20 languages only to choose where else the other one has no switches in the notification area, has no menu option in the same Display Menu in the Settings and has mora than 30 languages to choose in the the Select Language Menu.

I am totally baffled..

There are two possibilities here..

1. I have flashed different ROM but with same base, B866SP01
2. I have flashed same ROM, later flashed an UPDATE.APP file which has the notification settings implemented.

The thing is after the 1st phone flash I did a cleanup of my ROMS collection and I really am not sure whether I have deleted the ROM or the UPDATE.APP file.

Anybody had done putting the quick switches inside the notification area on their B866SP01 phone?
