fuhhh, newcastle really unstoppable... black horse for top 4 spot, just like spurs in previous season? bellamy starts, we must score in the 1st half with two face pace attacking options upfront ... sub in carroll later hopefully to add his name on scoresheet...

No excuse whatsoever. We are not playing CL or europa and no midweek games. One week full rest and still cant win.
Kenny needs to start playing carroll up front with luis.Kuyt should only be third choice.

Gerrard fed alot of through balls but luis failed to convert.Downing definitely doesnt look worth the 20million.Actually gerrard was one of the best players although he played in a more holding role.

I'll be rooting for Man city tonight.Come on aguero tongue.gif

I couldnt care less about manu.... they lose 6-1 at OT good for them and their 'fans'...

I really worried now when we go up against city.. its crazy man.. 6-1 at OT... f*ck!

I have to admit i feel much better now after yesterday's disappointing result. After all the weeks of spouting rubbish karma finally paid it dues.I am just a little disappointed that city broke our record at OT tongue.gif

I think you are being harsh on henderson. He is still 20years old.At 20 gerrard havent hit his peak yet too.Give henderson about 2seasons.

I cant say the same for downing and adam though.Age is not on their side and they should be peaking now.Adam especially seems to be kenny's favourite and undroppable.

There is no point of us laughing at them as we are also struggling to get results.
While we laugh,we got leapfrogged by spurs sad.gif
Let's face the truth...Who else is gonna beat them after this?We had the chance but we spurned it.
They've won against chelsea, spurs, arsenal and got a point from anfield.I fancy city to drop points against us and chelsea.

I don't agree with your assumption. Carra has been great all these years (everyone will agree with me on this) . Like what DukeRed said, he's aging. He's ability to content bigger forwards fading day by day. If you watch him this season, he has less counts on his account for his guarding tackles. Skrtel , yes ..he could cost us points if he don't watch his body movements towards defending. But on Saturday he almost opened goal count for us in nit? Correct me if i'm wrong..

Johnson , however has the ability of moving forward with dangerous runs into the box and could win penalties for us (like he did in the 1st season). Agger , anyone recalls his goals against Westham & Blackburn some seasons ago? It was his faultless performance and a move from defense against Blackburn with a special 30 yard rocket into the top corner. Again years before against Westham at Kop end.

Its about time to put Carroll upfront and design the service around him rather than criticising him not making use of the service he is given. Andy clearly is left footed and when he scored from the Enrique cross from the left he took it with his left foot rather than the inside of his right foot. On Saturday he took a header from Gerrard's cross from the right. So he is very much a left oriented player and needs the service coming from the right

In terms of basics we should be taking the ball to the byline and cutting it back so he facing the goal when he strikes the ball. Crosses driven from the wide positions along the touch lines have to travel further and allow the defence to organise themselves and step forward and cut out the cross. As we saw on weekend's Manchester derby the cross driven fron the edges of the 18 yard box are less of a lottery and stand a good chance of a goal.

Generally the modern approach is whip in crosses from around the edeges of the penalty area

We need to replace Adam with Henderson so that Andy receives steady passes to feet and allows him to become more engaged in the middle third coming back to receive the ball. The Adam sporadic fast driven balls down the channels for the strikers to chase will not help Andy to become a prolific scorer. He need the steady presence of Henderson behind feeding him a steady supply of regular paced balls. This would regularise our play and allow us to make attempts on goal when it is sensible and appropriate rather than the default position to go for goal when the odds are long. Lets get back to old style patient pass and move where we create clear cut chances.

A midfield that provides our strikers with a tad more time and space and better angles will help them to put away their chances

It would be a shame to 'let Carroll go" because other players cannot deliver the service he needs. It is bizzare that Carroll is dropped from side when those who are supposed to be providing him with a gold service seem to keep their places week after week?
*
You have some pretty decent points.I didnt realise the bolded part before this.Carroll is pretty faultless recently but he is still blamed. He has improved this season alot.
I still have faith that carroll-suarez combo will work. The man city game last season showed glimpses of what we can achieve with them. However, unlike the bolded part implies,i think the crosses need to come from the left. The header he scored against man city was a cross by meireles from the left if i remember well.

Hopefully man utd get city brows.gif

I wouldnt mind man utd at anfield. We got our revenge against stoke so it's time the mancs get what they escaped from anfield.
Wouldnt wanna play city tho. They are the team to beat at the moment sad.gif

coates was pretty solid. a few more games to get him familiarized with the pace of PL.

like i said not long ago, FA and the mickey mouse cup is ours to loose.

btw, here's a nice vids i found on rawk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTfKIzPMjtc

i can remember most of the goal in the video. pity the young fans who didnt have the chance to watch fowler and owen in their prime and young gerrard. good times.
*
I think the mickey mouse cup is a serious competition now.City, united, arsenal, chelsea,us all in the quarters.

I have to say i was fortunate enough to see michael owen in his prime.I would say he was even better than torres in terms of contribution to liverpool.Sad to see him wasted on the united bench now.Well you get what you asked for blush.gif

Young gerrard was very energetic and reckless.Always getting in two footed challenges and red cards especially against everton.

Here's a video of an even younger gerrard

This is taken from lfc boards:

Does Carroll makes Suarez Better?
I've looked over these stats a few times and unless I've missed something, what I found is very interesting.

We've played 12 competitive games, Luis has 7 goals. Of those 7 goals Luis has scored 6 when Big Andy has started, and the one he scored when Andy didnt start was vs Exeter, when he scored 3 minutes after Andy came on.

Yes it may be on the smaller size when it somes to samples, but it is worth noting that of our 12 competitive matches this year, Andy has only started 6 and of those 6 starts the ONLY match Luis hasn't scored in was the misery that was the Tottenham game.

To go a step further, Luis has only scored 1 time with Andy on the Bench, and that was when Suarez subbed in for Andy @ Arsenal.

Again I may have missed something, but from the looks of it, while Andy isnt getting goals, or even assisting Suarez directly statistically speaking our little Uruguyan bangs in goals when his partner is on the field.

Andy's hold up play and target role, I believe, allow Suarez to find the game a little better, and having a big body like Carrol to defend creates space for Suarez. I think more than anything it comes down to the fact the Luis is most lethal when he isn't the furthest player up the pitch.

what do you think?

If A.Carroll can developed, we will have 5-6 attacking threats in the team - together with Stvie.G, Suarez, Enriq, G.Johnson, JHenderson (hopefuls) and Downing (hopefuls) - this of cos will take time to develop team play - just like City 2 seasons ago, where despite huge financial investment, teamplay is poor...becos they have not work out a variety of teamplay i.e 1-touch, pass and run, organization, pressing, direct passing, interchange, counter attack etc etc....

after stoke away, now chelsea away..what a shitty draw  doh.gif

at least cardiff still has slight chance to win, its going to be a miracle for crystal palace to win at OT
*
I am really thinking that these guys are bribing officials secretly.Just like at italy in 2006,nobody would have believed it in the first place. But it was proven in the end.So typical that their rivals get the toughest draw and two of their bitter rivals play away.Don't tell me that their semi final route will be vs blackburn/cardiff vmad.gif

i dont think mu will put cc as their priority anyway, probably their devil's luck having such kind draw so far. let's concentrate on today matches, 3 points is what we need right now
*
Still....if you notice our fixtures trend.all away games and every fixture has been getting harder than the previous one doh.gif

We better get cardiff/blackburn for semis or those guys handling the draws wont have hands to pick draws in the future again

Not much complains although the game was a bit slow tempo.
I just think that downing needs to be benched. The rest did fairly well.

Also is it a coincidence that we keep a clean sheet when carra is not around and defence looks really solid hmm.gif
