QUOTE(kart @ May 16 2017, 10:07 PM) Can anyone help me on his matter? Is it ok that I choose not to change my OCBC ATM card to a OCBC debit card, as I do not want to pay RM 8.48 annual fee? Or, does OCBC offer basic saving account without annual fee? QUOTE(ShadowBlack2014 @ May 27 2017, 09:55 AM) Hi I am an European national, often traveling to Malaysia to enjoy life there during my holidays. I am going to be there 2 months July to August and I wish to know if anyone knows of any bank or financial institution offering a PREPAID debit card Visa or Mastercard. As bank wouldn't let me open an account, and I don't want to go around with cash the whole time. Not to mention is not wise to withdraw by my foreign CC/DC due to the silly exchange rates and fees... Any hint? RHB Prepaid CardMaybank Prepaid Card

QUOTE(ShadowBlack2014 @ May 27 2017, 10:48 AM) Thank you very much Maybank cards seems to be out of stock though I can't find on RHB website how long it takes to have their card in hand, any idea about it? I am not sure on how long will it take to have the card in hand but since prepaid cards in Malaysia do not require your name to be embossed on the card then I think it will be issued to you right after going through the application/ documentation process. That's my guess, I maybe wrong because I never used prepaid cards cause it's too expensive for me.

QUOTE(ShadowBlack2014 @ May 28 2017, 01:25 AM) Thank you @moonsatelite, I will check with RHB once I will arrive there @byron: yes I tried to purchase the card through Superbuy, but though it's shown that card is in stock, when I put it in my cart, I see this: [attachmentid=8854586] I don't think you should buy the prepaid card from the Superbuy website, I feel it's suspicious because if you try to own a prepaid card you will need to have your identity verified by the bank and since superbuy isn't a bank you might be buying a non usable card. If I were you I buy it through Maybank themselves by walking to any Maybank branches to ensure usability of the card.

QUOTE(replayzxc @ Jun 24 2017, 11:01 PM) Guys, recently i used my debit card to pay for my grabcar, but the payment was declined. I sent in a support ticket and this is what i get: What does the person mean by contact your issued bank to authorize this payment? I thought debit card can be used for online payment instantly. What bank are you using? You might have to enable Online Purchases through customer care hotline or internet banking.

QUOTE(AmericanPig @ Jun 27 2017, 06:24 PM) Can I enable public bank overseas purchase through online? after 10minutes still no one answer the call lol. I'm afraid that if calling does not work then you need to go to an ATM, cause only credit cards can activate the online purchase function through PBe.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Aug 22 2017, 10:03 PM) The CIMB CS is wrong. I have a CIMB Basic Savings Account with no annual fee and from the very beginning they already issued the CIMB debit MasterCard to me and I had never paid any annual fee for the debit card. Has your debit card reached its anniversary yet? I'm very curious to know whether is the RM 15.90 chargeble under Basic Savings Account, I even closed my account with the bank immediately upon hearing rumors of this. When I was using the account with the bank, I opted for the Non-Fee Account This post has been edited by moonsatelite: Aug 22 2017, 10:34 PM

QUOTE(limeuu @ Sep 16 2017, 03:15 PM) i suppose it's inevitable....maybank old yellow/black atm cards will be disabled from 1 November 17.... and yes, you will now need to pay annual fees for a debit card, which you may never use....and only use as atm card.... Well you have 2 options, 1. Is to call Maybank and request your withdraw limit be changed to only 4 times a month to be annual fee free but subsequent withdrawals will cost 50sen each or 2. Change to Basic Savings Account for 8 free withdrawals per month and also Annual Fee Free.

QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Oct 25 2017, 08:08 PM) Hi all. Is it true that we can opt for debit card with the no annual fee mode? I very suaku only know it today. What I heard was if opt for no annual fee mode, then we can withdraw for free for 8 times every month. If exceeded 8 times, each new transaction will be charged at RM 0.53. I am wondering if this applies to RHB and CIMB because I am using the debit card of these 2 banks.. For RHB, yes I can 100% guarantee that it is free from annual fees under the Basic Savings Account (No Fee, Option 1) as I am a user of the account. For CIMB, not sure.

QUOTE(davidw89 @ Apr 21 2019, 11:40 PM) What is best debit card for foreigners with no fees and easy to add cash into account? The Malaysian Central Bank has standardized all the debit cards' structures and fees across every bank in Malaysia, so it pretty much falls into whether you live or work within close proximity of a particular bank which allows you to deposit or withdraw cash and whether if you like that particular banks customer service or not. Also, I think only Maybank allows a no fee debit card that limits you to 4 ATM withdrawals per month (I am not sure for foreigners), or opt-in to pay RM 8 per year for unlimited withdrawals. QUOTE(beLIEve @ Apr 24 2019, 02:31 PM) Other banks have that too. Most are tied to Basic Savings Account and you will have to ask about it when you apply. Otherwise, you're getting some sort of non-basic savings account and have to pay annual fee for the debit card. Something that I have to inform you and I am not sure if you know the details, a Basic Savings Account entitles the account holder to (8, EIGHT) free withdrawals per month. But, Maybank has a free option for only (4, FOUR) free withdrawals per month and is open to anyone to apply.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Aug 29 2019, 08:17 PM) Anyone has idea what’s happening to the supposedly launching of GoPayz Prepaid cards that was supposed to take place last month ? And we’re about to bid farewell to August already and we have not heard anything from GoPayz since the big media event back in June. And has anyone also heard anything about Happy MasterCard by Digi ? Its IG account looks abandoned. Then there is also the Grab Prepaid MasterCard that is supposed to launch in Singapore this year. But so far nothing has happened. Perhaps anyone who knows someone from Grab can shed a light ? The only recent related development is that Grab has partnered up with Citibank to launch a co-branded credit card with Philippine to be the first market to offer a Citibank-Grab credit card. GoPayz might be following the same path as Apple's AirPower Wireless charger, "Dead before Arrival", I think xperiadroid somehow got the URL to sign up and I've signed up but didn't topup and a few weeks later, I received a text from them saying that my account is closed.

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Sep 6 2019, 08:45 PM) Hi, not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but I have some question for those who have cards under Bank Of China... I'm thinking of getting a Great Wall Prepaid Card, is there any specific thing that I need to take note of during the application? Can it be topped up using the BOC app? And what are your experiences of using the card locally since it's a Unionpay card? Just thinking of getting a Unionpay card and this seems like the suitable one. Thanks! I am one of the owners of the card, its actually a nonsense card. You CANNOT reload the card over the internet (be it via an app or internet banking) as it HAS to be reloaded over the counter with Cash or Cheque and the exchange rate is generally bad. But Unionpay is generally not a roadblock anymore as compared to a few years ago, KFC, McDonalds, Giant, Tesco, GrabPay, Aeon and many more to try do support Unionpay It's RM 24 for the registration fee and it'll last until it expires, the benefits are No Dormant Fee Charges This post has been edited by moonsatelite: Sep 7 2019, 12:07 AM

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Sep 7 2019, 10:50 AM) Correct me if I'm wrong but, ICBC only has 1 branch nationwide which is in KLCC right? But I found out that both Bank of China and ICBC have their own respective apps, so I guess IBFT and IBG wouldn't be an issue from them nowadays, but I do rely a lot on IBFT though... But is it true that ICBC requires a minimum deposit of RM 500 to open an account with them? At least according to RinggitPlus? To give you more information, I like to tell you that Bank of China (Malaysia) only has IBG & DuitNow services only, there's no IBFT for BOC

Anyone here recently open a Public Bank saving account experience this situation? We just want an account, not to apply for a credit card or loan which they acted like it was
