Which account is that where you need to pay annual fees for both the debit card & account?
When I last enquired a few years ago, I was told a person can only hold 1 BSA with CIMB. Even if one is conventional & the other one is islamic, it is not allowed. Even if the account is opened in another branch.
I don't think it is useless. It depends on whether BNM wants to take action or not. All banks in Malaysia are required to offer a fee-free BSA to Malaysians.
*
Cimb Islamic Normal Wadiah with Passbook. I cannot retrieve the details of 8.48 annual fee but I have seen it somewhere before. So I keep my doubt that the account charges both annual fee for debit card and account.

not sure if hsbc is doing any free ibft, well, good la no fee  biggrin.gif

I did test HSBC to other banks IBFT just now. Confirm no fees for fund transfer.

HSBC did comply with the meps promo though not like CIMB, which nitpicking on the promo.
Based on what advertise in HSBC page its zero IBFT for instant transfer, credit card, financing repayment. So they really did comply to this. Very good.👍👍

Would it be permanent? Or only promo for temporary?

As of now, it will be just a promo until 31 Dec but who knows if it will be extended. This campaign is in line with instructions from Bank Negara.

If the free debit card is only tagged to BSA, will you still be able to do online fund transfer from other non BSA CASAs under the same login id? I asked this because my experience with cimb click that my free cimb dr card also only tagged to bsa and as a result, my 3 other non bsa accounts under the same cimb click login id were barred from doing fund transfer, I can't even perform own account fund transfer to my BSA. I can only use BSA to do online fund transfer after dr card tagged only to BSA.
I guess if you open a BSA, it means you only need basic savings services, basic savings services should not have multiple casa.
*
I'm not sure how you set up your cimb CASA,

I have 2 debit card, 1 BSA, 1 Normal Savings.
I have also 2 login details for cimbClicks.
So far no problem to transfer within all my accounts.

I think you may need to create another cimbclicks ID for the other accounts.

I had signed up for CIMB Lazada Prepaid Card on 6 Dec 2017.
From 12 Dec to 19 Dec total I had spent RM508.55 at Lazada.
On 25 Dec, I only received LAZADA CASH REBATE RM5.09
Shouldn't I receive RM25+ ?
Can someone please help me on this?
*
You'll get the bonus cash rebate on 25th Jan. The bonus cash rebate will credit on following month. So in your case, you spend on December, it will credited in Jan (25th).

Thanks for your reply.
Meaning now I will only receive 1% cash rebate & the balance will be credited on 25 Jan is it?
*
Yes, the RM5.09 is 1 per cent cash rebate from your 500++ spending.

The rest of cash rebate will credit next month (25th)

hi planning to make an online purchase on a USA site.
reading a few posts back, the charges from Maybank debit seems to be lowest as this was recommended, and that was back in 2014.

can anyone please confirm if the charges is still 0.5% on top of the bank's own forex rate?

also between debit and credit both from maybank, are the charges same?
*
For Maybank Visa Debit, charges should be around 1.25 on top of Visa exchange rate.

For Maybank Visa credit, charges should be around 2.25 on top of Visa exchange rate.

I just visitted Maybank counter 2 days ago, submitted a form and now should be no annual fee (option 1).
While for CIMB, cannot just switch it by fill up a form. Have to open a new account  doh.gif
*
Yes Agree on this Maybank is simpler to change from fee bearing debit card to non fee bearing debit card. Just do it in branch.

However CIMB is a bit difficult, need to open new account which is BSA (no annual fee). We also need to be persistent when opening this account because by default their system will open a fee bearing BSA. So need to confirm a few times with the banker.

anyone can confirm for CIMB lazada debit card
the RM25 rebate is it based on transaction date, or posting date , and also the cut-off date is it based on last day on the month ?
thanks
*
I think it is based on transaction date. The bonus cash rebate RM25 is calculated over calendar month. IE you spent RM167 in a certain month. Your Bonus Cash Rebate will be reflected on the 25th of the following (next) month.

Change card at MBB would be RM12. If you have no annual fees on your previous card, make sure that you will have no annual fees too on this new card. You can ask the banker when he/she change your card.

Hi, I'm a uni student and will be travelling to US for a few months for my student exchange program. I would like to know which bank offers the best debit card that has low/no atm withdrawal fee or no foreign transaction fee? And also, does any debit card offered by any bank can have my name on the card? thanks
*
Or you may try this prepaid card. As of now, no fees and no foreign exchange fees. Rate follows Mastercard.

However, withdrawal is costly. If you plan to use it everyday as debit/POS transactions. This would be very good since you are on exchange program.

Read this thread below as if you apply, it will take few days to deliver the card to your address.

Thank you very much for the recommendation.
1. If I am to reload USD into my account, how can I do it? reload it through the counter or is there any other options?
2. If I reload USD into my bank account via over-the-counter transaction in Malaysia, and I spend my USD in US, there will be 0 fees and charges incurred?

Thank you.
*
1. The card only accept MYR reload. To reload, you can just do it online in the app/website.
2. Any transaction in USD/any other foreign currency other than MYR is based on Mastercard prevalent rate at time of transaction. So let say you spend 1 USD at it will be converted to prevalent MYR let say RM3.95 with no any other charges.
Fees will only be imposed for withdrawal of money at ATM both in Malaysia and also overseas.
As long as you use your debit card to purchase things while you are in US, no charges involved.

Read a little bit more on the thread I gave you, someone also posted some of their transactions there.

Thanks.

Hello, wanted to ask about BSA age requirements.

Is there any minimum age to open a BSA Account?

Need to be over 18 to open this account?

Thanks.

general BSA is for adult, so 18yo min ago is normal for banking.

however, depending on banks, each could have different types of BSA, for adults or minor.
e.g. Maybank BSA https://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...al/ACC-Accounts

Basic Savings Account (BSA) - adult above 18 years old
Basic Savings Account Trust (BSA Trust) - children below 18 years old with parents or legal guardians below 60 years of age
Basic Savings Account Minor (BSA Minor) - teenager aged 12 to below 18 years old
check with the respective banks on what is available.
*
Thank you. Will look for them again.

May i know what MBB branch u guys went to?

The savings account I opened was WITH FEES

Just now I went MBB Kota Kemuning to apply new ATM card and request to waive the RM8 AF but they called me back few minutes ago claiming it's not possible to do so as the account I opened comes with charges

EDIT : Called customer service just now, they said it's possible to waive the fees, just have to go back the home branch where I opened my account  thumbup.gif
*
Mine was already basic savings account. But for all other accounts I think better go to your opening branch. They just simply turn off the unlimited withdrawal in their system. If they said cannot, just ask the manager to come. That's the only way.

Does JPJ accept debit card?
I went to UTC earlier and was told that I cannot use debit card 😢😢
*
Usually UTC cash only. However you can pay online if you have JPJ mysikap. That's easier if you really want to pay using card.

Also normal JPJ counter has special counter for card payment.
