i read it from MBB facebook last week, only the existing debit card must be replaced before end of Dec 2016.
only the old black and yellow ATM card will not be able to use from 1 Jan 2018 based on the reply from the MBB facebook. forget to save the link.

anyhow, i have just replaced my black and yellow ATM card to Visa platinum debit card last week since i was free last week.

i am still using my old (CIMB) Bumiputra commerce ATM card since year 2000, so far so good as at today.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara has refuted reports that ATM cardholders would be charged a renewal fee and denied the cards' use for cash withdrawals if not replaced with the new PIN-based cards.

The central bank said in a statement that ATM cards can be replaced for free.

"ATM cards in Malaysia double up as debit cards which allow cardholders to make purchases at point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

"Those who have not replaced the cards can continue to use it for cash withdrawals at the ATMs," it said.

With regard to the usage of ATM cards as a debit card for purchase transactions at POS terminals, banks are required to provide cardholders with adequate notice. This is alongside a reasonable time period for the replacement before disabling the existing cards for such transactions.

Bank Negara said banks had been progressively replacing their customers' signature-based payment cards with PIN-based cards and aim to complete this exercise by Jan 1, 2017.

It said effective July 1, 2017, all payment card transactions conducted using locally issued payment cards at POS terminals in Malaysia could only be completed with a PIN entry and signature verification would no longer be facilitated.

"This initiative to migrate to PIN-based payment cards for transactions at POS terminals is to improve security and protect cardholders' interest.

"The public should not delay their replacement of cards," it added. - Bernama

The RM8.48 annual fee is on the debit card right? Not the account? Or both?
RM8.48/year for the account + RM8.48/year for the card ?

Do you know how to use new MBB debit card to do online oversea purchase ? The  online transaction failed after I filled in name, debit card number etc. I have already set the correct card limit and also oversea purchase flag in card management, but transaction still failed.

Furthermore, older MBB debit card has no problem to do online purchase. I suspect new MBB debit card cannot do online purchase.

UOB is nice, it comes with RM8.48 annual fee, but has unlimited free IBG / IBFTs - IBFTs are 53sen each for other banks
If you don't transfer money so much, Maybank is OK but be warned -
(i) insist on BASIC savings account, rather than their standard Kawanku
- although both are free, BASIC allows 8 free ATMs a month, Kawanku allows only 4
(ii) Tell them you don't want unlimited ATMs withdrawals for Rm8.48 - they give you this by default
*
you can disable the annual fees for UOB debit card. just go to your home branch. free ibg/ibft until end of this year.

Hey guys which saving account debit card have no annual fee? Maybank RM8 can be cancel so that no more unlimited withdrawal atm but still retain card.

CIMB cannot do so and deduct RM15 every year. Only option is maybe open up a BSA.

Any other bank with no annual fee debit card?
*
public bank, ambank, uob bank all free with limited withdrawal for BSA debit card.
