my Deka X5 ceiling fan for my car porch failed after about 2 years. beeping nonstop, and can't spin properly - spin up, stop, spin up, stop. I only use it when I'm washing car etc.

After checking with Deka support, it could be a capacitor malfunction, and the part could cost anything from RM5-RM35, depends, and the service charge is RM40 per trip, weekdays only. Now, I think I'll just replace it with a Panasonic or KDK, as all my other fans are Pana/KDK, with much higher usage and zero issues.

I'm using Deka Sphere. Sometimes it will just turn off suddenly by itself, after a "beep". And sometimes, when I'm using remote control on my TV/ bluray, it will suddenly "beep" and turn off. Something wrong with the infrared sensor?

Seem like Deka fan lifespan is very short, probably 1-2 years....

No.... don't go for DEKA, spend a bit more for KDK or Panasonic
5 blades is about RM284 and 3 blades with modulator is only RM131, price from Houses Lighting puchong. You will regret if you buy Deka ones, price justify quality for fans..

I was using Deka Ceiling Fan more than 5 years. So far got facing a minor problem like remote doesn't work. Then just call up for on site services to replace a parts. Sometime buying thing is depends on luck. If you are lucky person you must believe yourself.

For my new house I also prefer Deka. The reason I still perfer Deka because Deka Ceiling Fan got many design I think can match your modern house.

Deka also wins a superbrand 2013. Earning money is not easy....Hope you buy a valueable products.

Yes, I also have been using Deka fan for about 5 years, replaced the remote due to battery leak for RM15 and recently called for service to replace the rubber bushing due to noise but the service guy recommended to replace the PCB board as well due to age factor. All in less than RM 50 for the second service, compared to our Panasonic 2 year old fan is having humming sound when run on speed 1 or 2. So far quite satisfied with Deka after sales support.

my experience with deka, euro-uno, kdk and panasonic.

deka - the fan is acting up after 6 months, sometimes it just refuse to spin, even the beep sound is there. sometimes it is working fine. sometimes it just stop after a while.

euro-uno - the fan motor is gone after 2 years. totally cannot spin anymore.

both kdk and panasonic is still working great.

after reading a bit here and there and w the recent posting on voltage dip/sag, I wonder if the phenomenon adequately explains why there's such a hit and miss with fans that uses remote control or electronics.

I regret buying this fans, less than 6months I had two failures and service support hopeless in Penang. I was conned about the quality and service support and replaced all my home ageing old fans which were working for more then 15 years except noisy quacks. my fan down for the second time waiting more than two weeks for the technicians. Strongly recommend to go for reputable brands.

I have a feeling that this guy either works for elegant lighting or deka. Give address, email and phone number. There are so many designer fans out there like elm ark and alpha with proven success. Why must I choose deka?

I used Panasonic 4 blades remote ceiling fan. After 5 years, remote failed, replace PCB by Panasonic at RM120 total.

After 1 year, remote failed again. This time, the fan spinning is getting slower and make noise. If ask for service sure need to replace PCB, motor, bushing etc. Not worth it.

Now I'm thinking to replace with regulated type. Give up with remote type already.

For those who are planning to buy Deka Ceiling Fan 60", let me share with you my experience.
I bought all 6 Deka Ceiling Fan 1.5  years back, Year 2013. Today, 7 April 2014- they were all not working.
My whole house exudes badly burnt motor smell and we're choking at home.

I thought it was the aircond that was burnt or the air purifier got electrical shocks and turned off all of them and open up all the windows to air out the badly burnt smell. We're on stand by with fire extinguishers in case there's some electrical sparks somewhere.

After half an hour, the smell as still bad, when I checked on the fan, it was not working. I thought it should turn on the fan so air out the place. When I pressed the remote control speed 1,2,3 there's a normal 'toot' sound but the fan isn't moving. I waited because usually when you press Speed 1, you have to wait for 3-5 seconds for the fan blade to start spinning. Somehow, everyone came to check what was amissed and finally can pin point to the DEKA fan not working anymore.

Can't believe that this fan failed so quickly. My KDK fans without Remote Control have been spinning daily for the last 15 years without fail. So for those of you who're getting Ceiling fans in bulk for your new house of something, I spent this time to alert you of what would happen. Buyers aware.

Gnight. sad.gif
