a company quoted me a 6kwp for about 30k. ROI in 6 1/2 years

What you think of it?

It that a guarantee and how it calculate?

They claim saving of 350 per month roughly so using backhand calculation, returned the 30k invested in 6 1/2

Net metering for residential setup is 12 kw maximum for single phase or 72 kw for 3 phase wiring setup.
It's is useful to offset monthly electricity bill but not to generate income from selling to TNB. That will depend on your monthly bill and the size of your solar setup. You get credit not money. Credit unused will expire after 24 months. The credit rate is 1 to 1 ie selling to TNB rate same as buying from TNB at night. A 12 kw system grid tied with NEM costs RM55k. Info from a company called gsparx a subsidiary to TNB.

Good thing about microinverter is even if 1 panel is shaded only that panel production goes down and not the whole panels connected in series goes down
Another option is to maintain string panels but use Solaredge voltage optimiser but have to use Solaredge inverter to use management / monitoring app. I dont know any local distributer for microenverter / enphase envow but theres a local distributor for Solaredge

Depend the design system and adjust it accordingly. The voltage you want to run.

I cannot set the cable budget if the design require it. It is a short change and danger if the system require this cable size but because of budget, I reduce the size.

For my 2000w panel. I'm going to get a mppt charger and make a dc system to feed my router and IOTs.
The charger need to have custom battery profile to handle LiFePO4 battery.

China branded unit
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10....id=566414111738

hmm... looks like many choices...
those epever/epsolar model also not bad, and its fanless.
epever/spsolar seem to be more popular on the internet.
But it can only use 1000w panel max on 24v.
https://www.epsolarpv.com/product/5.html

both option costs about the same. Around rm500.
Both options can only handle 1000w panel.

headache. rclxub.gif

This is great news for us considering solar power production.

Thank you very much for sharing.

Edit*

A big and heartfelt thank you to Yushin for providing me his supplier and system costing.

I am also reading https://www.instructables.com/id/Working-Sy...potlights-With/
to understand how to prepare and size this project within a reasonable budget and future maintenance issues.

Hi guys... Thinking of going solar with atleast 5kwh system... How many 250w panel needed to reach that target.
I found a manufacturer in jenjarom that selling 250w panel in shoppee.. Anyone have any comments on that?

Mostly it would be a diy project with my dad.

Your system will link to TNB or offgrid?
Do you mean 5kw panel?
How much load you want to power and for how long?

It would be offgrid and to power my mining rigs and some lightings. My load is ~4kw and for 24/7 with less downtime if possible.

Assume you only have 5 hours of full sun on your panels. Then :
1) You need to fully charge your battery within that 5 hour.
2) Your battery need to run the rigs for at least 16 hours.
3) 16 hours at 4kw = 64KWH of power. Using 48v batteries you need at least 1000AH.

You will need :
15KW panel
2 x 5KW hybrid inverter + charger + TNB (for your rigs, each inverter handle 2kw)
1 x solar charger 60A
Factoring convertion efficiency loss of 5% and DOD of 80%, you actually need 86KWH of battery storage
You need 18 set of 48v100AH battery
each set = 4 x 12V100AH lead acid battery.

costing :
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/solar-pa...xlVe2b&search=1
15kw panel = 60x 270w panel (power buffer) = 60 x rm500 = rm30k

2 x 5kw hybrid inverter from taobao = 2 x rm3000 = rm6k
1 x 48v 60A MPPT charger from taobao = rm800

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/msb-ultr...21Xaxg&search=1
72x 12v 100A deep cycle battery from lazada = 72 x rm680 = rm48960

Total costs excluding tansport and installation.
RM85760.
Some of the item like battery and panel I suggest you direct talk to distributor. You should be able to get cheaper than lazada price.

after install you might need to observe the charge to decide whether to add more solar panel or battery.
Sunlight in every place is different.

Btw, if you have lots of wind in your area, consider adding some wind generator, then you no need so much batteries.

No tax. I'm using sea shipping.
But the BYD 3U battery pack might attract attention, see how it goes. 40kg item.

3.2V 100AH Lithium Iron Phosfate (LiFePO4)
Price in taobao is around RMB240, in Aliexpress its around usd130. Exclude transport to Malaysia, the biggest headache.
Warranty : Some seller gives warranty but not really worth to claim it.
Reason : Transport back to china to claim warranty gonna costs a lot or near impossible. Which courier in Malaysia can ship large capacity lithium (3.3kg) to China?

You will need specific solar charger that can customize the float and CV voltage to use these batteries. Take note there are 2 type of lithim, 3.65v(the usual lithium we see) and 3.2v(Lithium iron phosfate)
Inverter just use back the same 12,24,48 depend on which inverter you like.
You will need some protection and battery management for the batteries to ensure it serves long life (>2000 cycle) and doesn't damage by over/under charge.

Here is the info of the battery. Read it up for your own understanding and safety when handle lithium batteries.
