Not easy to group buy lah, especially when dealing with bulky items and pricey stuff. Expert exchange, hey we have forum here to share and is also a good knowledge base for future reference.

Never the less, a cup of tea (of few cups) if good for building up friendship.

Battery are the cost killer, don't forget you need thick wires because of the high current.

Go for 24v or 48v lor. That can reduce the size to twice or trice. But still can't beat the AC wire cost.

Sometime very hard to decide between 12v and 24v. Between cost and available parts in the market.
*
12v are more common, but you need cables that can handle 200 - 300Amps minimal that is using welding cables.

That is freaking high consumption. 36Kwh/mth. RM8/0.218.  I rather don't buy. That is almost my fridge consumption.

Even it state how many watt, but it is not continues run. Just like the fridge or aircon. The running pattern is ON/OFF depend the usage. It hard to do the calculation by this way. Only by kill a watt meter measure the actual ruuning.
*
Where got 0.218, have to use 0.45 more realistic unless that is the only equipment. As for the consumption, it should be around 100-150watt per hours because compressor and heater not always switch on, usually only 1/3 the operation time are switch on. 0.4kw/h * 0.33 *24 *30 = 95Kwh * 0.45 = ~RM 42

RM 42, a price to pay for convenient smile.gif

I don't no which is realistic. Very much depend on your usage peryear and than average down. If your usage is low, 0.45 is abit high rate. I put my rate at 0.3x.

The dispenser consumption is depend on the usage. So it depend how many cup of water you drink or get from the dispenser.

RM42 is too high calculation for a dispenser. Doesn't justify to own 1.
*
You and I not that level lah. I stick with my 3M filter enough smile.gif if need cold water, just take the ice, if need hot water just boil it.

Actually, 0.218 is accurate cause I never exceed the limit so far. And I noticed my TNB bill spike RM7-8 monthly because of this unit. RM 7-8 is a fair price to pay I would say.
*
The more appliances you have the more expensive you will be paying.

If you are paying at 0.218, that mean you are using less than 200 units per month. I am impress how you can achieve this. Can you describe to me what appliances you have, and how long it run a day?

The last I did help my friend calculate, his meter was tempered and he reported it back to TNB. Lucky enough he did not have to pay anything because he just got the house 2nd hand, and TNB when chase after the original owner laugh.gif

So it's better to connect same size batteries than different size batteries right?

So if I connect 3 x ns40's I would get 32Ah x 3 = 96Ah (in theory)

Still can't find a way to utilize my solar panel sad.gif
*
AH, and KWH is difference, you may have good 30mins and end up the juice are gone especially when you use old car battery. After deep charged your battery performance will drop and lifespan will be affected.

Also you need to take note LeadAcid battery release Hydrogen gas when charging, make sure you have better ventilation, if not you are just putting timebomb in your house especially you put many of it in one location.

Thanks for the heads up. How big a size of a battery do I need to power a fridge and a couple of lamps and a few fans? Probably going to need to find some consultant and do the maths. Any suggestions?
*
My advice, don't invest in battery. You spend lots of money on battery and not gaining back. Battery lifespan are like 2 years some maybe 3.. not worth it.

Joint in series for 24v.

One question, i am planing to build a solar+battery powered raspberry pi cctv, and need a solar charger controller. I saw most controller have this output with "bulb" indicator. Is that a DC output? Eg below

Yup. That is the output from solar or battery. 12v or 24v output depend on your solar and battery connection.

Either manual on/off by press that key button or preprogram output like day OFF/ Night ON, timer ON/OFF etc. Select the mode by keep press the key button.

Need to calculate carefully the solar and battery watt for 24hr running.
*
Ok, that output is set-able, will need to run 24x7 for my rapsberry +camera. Will about 7watt include loss.

So small the watt?

Thought the camera will use more than 5w.

Raspberry camera is very low power. And with Pi Zero, will be low power.

Best things for Raspberry pi camera, it have a version for low light infra red camera (noir)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lP-QQGxm2Y0

Maybe couple of hundred mAmp to power the infrared LED.

Put it at 10w x 24hr = 240whr

Require 51ahr, 12v battery.

If 4hr of sunlight (raining) you need 78w panel.

Get a 65ah, 12v battery, 100w panel and 10A charger controller.
*
will try small scale first, maybe 2x 7ah 12v seal lead acid for the 12 hours night, while day will use 30watt solar panel charge and supply the pi. Will try it for RnD purpose.

This too small for run on 24hr wor.

Remember you can't run your battery till low. At least 50% reserve. Otherwise, the battery kong very fast.

30watt panel is only give out 1.5A or less. You can't charge the battery full with the unit running.
*
Is ok, will test out first once in "production" I will build another unit. Since I am planing to put multiple cctv with self power. My last test using a basic USB watt meter (pi power via usb), it only take 4watt per hour.

After test few time, i accidentally reversed polarity of the batter. Damn. The Solar Diode is fried but still able to chunk out power. Hope no damage. The Charger controller still power up, but when i measure voltage it seem output too high now, will need to look into the circuit if I can fix it or not.
