QUOTE(vearn27 @ Oct 8 2011, 08:02 PM)
Hoya HD UV or B+W XS-Pro UV. You wouldn't go wrong with either one of it smile.gif

Have you got your flashgun yet? Shooting in a dim area or indoor, 17-55 also can't give you much help tongue.gif
Just go with you newly acquired lens and shoot. Gain the experience. It's not like everyday got free models to pose for you for shooting biggrin.gif
*
^ agreed with the free models part. smile.gif thumbup.gif

wasted shoot at f/2.8, no background to bokeh also tongue.gif
that portable booth quite bright, so u could've stopped down more like f/5.6 and 1/100s, and get more of the shot in focus.
*
ya lo.. agree.. wasted wasted.. cry.gif >_< 1st time shoot people in the light booth.. shud have used a smaller aperture to capture more glory.. icon_idea.gif

used to own this lens and i am quite happy with the results...

i nv tried the nikkor 12-24 b4 but this is a cheaper lens which suits my need.... distortion is minimal...

UWA lens produces photo of different (wider) perspective... makes ur foreground look bigger... different effect from a standard prime lens...

only downside is the zoom range is very limited and is to me a dedicated UWA lens...
*
Thanks a lot

QUOTE(Isepunye @ Oct 12 2011, 12:23 AM)
tokina 116 is non motor lens. u must do manual focus on D5100
*
Yea. I realized that also. If I'm the only one using the camera, I'm fine with getting the tokina 11-16. But I'm sharing the camera with my sister. @_@ I can manual focus, but not sure my sister can use it or not. I heard it's not hard doing manual focus with UWA lens. Is that true? Or should I just invest on Sigma 10-20 / Nikkor 10-24 instead?

Help! My D3100's mirror is jammed in the down position. I can take a photo but what i've got is a blank image since the mirror is not flipping up.

This is not mirror-lock up!

Any ideas about why is this happening?

Check this link.

Seems like some people have the same issue with D3100/D40/D40x. I'd personally suggest sending it back to Nikon for repair, as I guess your warranty should still hold.

Otherwise, if you're feeling a bit daring lately, you can still try to fix it yourself. Or just send it back to Nikon and pay for the repair cost? (if your warranty expired)

Errr... Bleed also must bleed smartly. Buying the 24-70mm and complain later that the 24mm end on DX is not wide enough is silly bleeding.
Convertor to use Canon lenses on Nikon bodies does not exist. Besides, why do you want to use a lower grade lens when you can use a Nikon?  biggrin.gif
Agreed. Wait till you see bokeh shot from from a 300mm f/4.  biggrin.gif
Thanks for the links. Excellent. Learn something new. I tested the first link and it works great. But what about lens serial number? Does it get recorded in the EXIF?
Not hard especially in daytime if you learn the hyperfocal technique.

If you have money, get the Nikon 10-24.
Did you try to take out battery and put it back in?
Wah, you rush around with the crowd, look round and round to find parking at MV and burn petrol plus parking, the is the RM 17 worth saving?  rclxub.gif
*
thanks.. i'll consider the 10-24 then.. smile.gif i do manual focus half the time wan.. so i'm alright with it, just worry my sister find it hard to use..

btw.. i heard there is some event on midvalley concourse on 19-23 Oct.. i heard it from radio.. cannot remember what event was that.. you all know anything about that?
