Will be getting the 85mm 1.4 soon, wondering should I upgrade to D7000 or not from my D90? D700 would be too expensive for me

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 10 2011, 07:47 AM) D7000 is still a crop sensor. No point IMO. And trust me, you will probably go to D700 with the 85G. Happened to meĀ I know, but budget won't allow me. I just can't buy it for now The thing about the D7000 is the focus points. It's far superior than the D90, and coz I'm buying the 85 1.4G, I have to be very careful with the focusing right? Extra points = 2016 RGB pixel instead of 420 RGB pixel, superior ISO, body, etc etc QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 10 2011, 11:11 AM) Agree with celciuz, D700 is much better, FF still excels at noise, still at least 1 stop better than D7000. Don't rely on how great the D7000 ISO, some said very close or cleaner, but in real usage, you will notice it's noisier especially the dark areas. D700 at 1600 ISO is still very clean; There're some sites that does very detailed and proper review and you can clearly see that D700 is still much better, at least by 1 stop. I see, but the point is bro, it's not that I feel that the D7000 is equal to the D700, it's just that I can't afford it. So I'm thinking if it's better than the D90 like the D700 is better than the D7000 This post has been edited by FaezFarhan: Oct 10 2011, 02:36 PM |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 10 2011, 03:05 PM) No worries, just suggestions. You might want to think carefully before decide (if you can save up more); just in case you regret later. Maybe you should go try out both. Just sharing suggestion/opinion. QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 10 2011, 05:17 PM) It is still a DX sensor... its like upgrading from Myvi 1.3 to Myvi 1.5 LOL. No point... save up for something like D700 to make it worth it. I see, hurm will try and think what's best for me right now. Sorry btw, I'm a bit of a gear head Yes, 85G is too tight indoors. 85G on a D90 is like a Ferrari engine on a Honda Civic body? |

I asked a photographer here. How's the D700? He said the colour was normal, no big difference compared to the D90. Only thing was it's full frame. He used a D90 + 70-200 VR1 before, then he swapped to 5D Mark II + 135 f2. He's happy till now coz he said the 5DMKII gives a nice tone to the picture

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Oct 11 2011, 01:58 PM) I agree QUOTE(razuryza @ Oct 11 2011, 02:00 PM) Will it still be natural?QUOTE(a.ihsan @ Oct 11 2011, 02:08 PM) Nothing special, just that he prefers the tone from the 5D.QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 11 2011, 02:12 PM) No what I meant was he was happy with the D90, then he wanted to upgrade, so he choosed the 5D instead of the D700 because of the tone it gives out. And he's a good photographer IMO, doesn't care much about his gear. Most of the top photographers here uses 5DMKII |

Guys, can explain about picture control? Does it really affect our picture? It's always on standard on my D90. Potrait mode boost the colours?
Btw, street price for D700? Rm6.2k here in KB |

I guess the 20mm f2.8D is much sharper than my Tamron 17-50 yeah? What about the distortion on a D700?

It's Nikon's move now to announce something amazing. It's like a chess game. If not then it's check!

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 18 2011, 12:33 PM) Nikon RGB sensor only 2048 or something on their newer system.. this one 100k wah -.- very 'kua zhang'. Yeah hopefully. I thought the 2048 pixel in the D7000 was groundbreaking already, 100k meh But as usual, let's see how Nikon. Who knows what they might pull out... see their V1/J1... 60fps I'm just hoping for a 16-18MP... with excellent ISO performance (D3s better or on par), and more cross sensors for the AF system. That will justify my wish list and reason to upgrade Nikon's announcement is next week? |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 18 2011, 01:38 PM) Judging from D3s and 1Dmk4, it was very close... so should be soon. I see. Probably like D3 and D700 ya? D3 comes out, then a year later Nikon produces a mini-D3, D700. Guess it's the same case with the D4 and D800 I don't think the D800 would be out so soon, if Nikon were to counter it has to be the D4. |
