I can see that when fully 800mbps cpu increase to 40-70pct. Choose CCR Normal home traffic. Youtube. Iptv 4 boxes, ps4, synology and stuff. |

Thinking to replace Ubiquity Unifi and try Wifi 6 with Mikrotik. When you going to get 2nd unit to try roaming?

QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 12 2023, 03:19 PM) ax3 is RM685. Bank vouchers will help with this. Thank you. Seems like still not much improvement after all these years.https://s.lazada.com.my/s.5UAgb A bit cheaper if buy direct. Generally speaking I wouldn’t buy Mikrotik just for its WiFi. It’s always underperforming. |

QUOTE(maxiscool @ Sep 9 2023, 01:00 PM) Thx for all the help. I had the error too. I re-create the IPv6 then get the duplicate IP error. Works fine after reboot. In the end, I reset configuration and start over, now it is working with the same method of configuration. Probably there is error somewhere that is hard to identify |

Found this RB5009UPr+S+IN with POE output features. Anyone using this? Tested with Ubiquiti Unifi AP?

The key point here is concealed wring is PITA when comes to re-wiring/repair. Just use cat 6/6A today (cheaper cost for 10G), 10Gbps should be sufficient for most home for many years. Cat 5e cable can achieve 5Gbps within 50 meters. it is even possible for 8Gbps. Want future proof and ease of maintenance, don't do concealed wiring. simmarjit liked this post

QUOTE(cwtien @ Jun 17 2025, 08:50 PM) Disable keepalive setting and it should get MTU 1492 (hopefully!). It should be this: Thanks for sharing. I will wait for stable release of 7.20."ppp - do not send initial echo request if keepalive-timeout=disabled;" I'm not upgrading yet. And this is the history of why we're getting MTU 1480 (spoiler, Huawei): https://forum.mikrotik.com/t/pppoe-compatib...bras-nfv/182546 P.S. QUOTE(sam240 @ Sep 12 2025, 04:24 PM) Hi Sifu, You will struggle if not familiar with Mikrotik and networking. I'm a noob too, google on how-to and configured my Mikrotik + Ubiquiti AP. Then basically can forget about it except updating the software. I like the convenience of POE which lead me to this path.I'm newbie to Mikrotik, I've some questions to ask and seek for some advice: 1) what's the benefit to replace Mikrotik as main router to my existing Asus wireless router? Well, some too advanced setting I may don't know. 2) I plan to setup 2~3 PoE access point, should I continue use my Asus as main router (disable all WiFi) or use Mikrotik will be better? I never use standalone router, so need some advice before setup ahlong liked this post

QUOTE(kwss @ Sep 12 2025, 11:50 PM) If you have no problem with your Asus, changing to Mikrotik won't improve thing. Do the same apply to Ubiquiti UCG?In fact a lot of SoC in consumer device make use of NAT / packet acceleration that only expensive Mikrotik implements. Even then those get disabled the moment PPPoE is used in Mikrotik. Unless you have a specific feature you want, I say save your money and just spend it on PoE + AP |

Ubiquiti zone based firewall look interesting. Anyway, I'm planning to upgrade network to 2.5G with current 5e cable. Going need new 2.5G or 10G equipments. My Mikrotik already EoS too.

QUOTE(kwss @ Sep 13 2025, 09:28 AM) Well Ubiquiti stuff is indeed user friendly. Not only their firewall, but their policy based routing is just point and click as well for major service provider. Thanks for the insight. The thing with Ubiquiti or TP-Link Omada is that once you deploy the controller, you kind of get sucked into their ecosystem as most of the features won't be available unless you owns everything from gateway to switch to AP. After you own all that, might as well own the camera and doorbell too. The problem is you need to decide if your internet speed is going to break the 2gig barrier. On one hand TM haven't roll out anything better than GPON. They might or might not do it when the next election comes. On the other hand, if you do break the 2gig barrier, 10g is the next logical choice. However, having 10gig port doesn't means it can actually route 10gig, or 10gig over PPPoE. Like nobody knows if TM is sticking to PPPoE. EDIT: For the CAT 5e cable, they are good till 5gig. So I say just keep them and go straight to fiber for anything faster. From what I can see right now, WiFi 7 wont be breaking 5gig barrier. Another thing right now is that multi-gig poe++ switch is still kind of rare and pricey. Sometimes I feel buying Asus router with SFP+ port and use them as AP is cheaper than a multi-gig poe++ switch + PoE AP. 10G equipments still expensive. 2.5G is more reasonable upgrade with my concealed Cat 5e cables and usage. I also looking at Asus BT10 as alternative. I do appreciate the software updates from Mikrotik and Ubiquiti. I wonder Asus still release security updates for 1-2 years or older router. |

QUOTE(kwss @ Sep 13 2025, 10:56 AM) If you value long term software update, nothing beats Mikrotik, Asus and Ubiquiti. I checked with SubTel, pre-order UCG fiber + 1 u7 pro xg almost same as BT 10 pack Avoid TP-Link at all cost. One model has multiple hardware revision. Not all hardware revision has the same software lifecycle. The worst part is you don't know what hardware revision you will be getting if you buy online. After all that, it is still a gamble how long you will actually get software update. The 2-pack BT10 will end up cheaper than the equivalent Ubiquiti setup. You also don't have to deal with all the Ubiquiti bugs. Easier to setup too. |
