just save your shsh now. if suddenly apple release ios5.1 then you cant upgrade to 5.0.1 liao...

or just upgrade to ios5.0.1 now (up to you).

*the untethered is not release yet, may or may not release is depends.

use iFaith to rip your current shsh blob from phone (require DFU mode). Restore also use same tools.

use TinyUmbrella for your current latest shsh blob. Every new version shsh need new tinyumbrella.

make sure is not pointing to cydia for shsh (check advance option and the host is not pointing to cydia). cause you want to save new latest shsh from apple.

pointing to cydia is for those want to retrieve old saved shsh from cydia server and restoring using cydia host.

u can revert, but the 5.0.1 baseband may not be compatible with old ios.

that why some ppl preserve baseband when upgrade. usually old baseband will work with new ios.

At lot of people still buy US set and thinking they get a good bargain until they upgrade and find out they have expensive ipod. Spending money on gevey sim, as well spend more on MY sets.

just keep a copy locally for safety. u can't tell until you see it appear in cydia screen.

try request shsh from cydia, if you manage to download from cydia then you have it in cydia server.

Lucky for you, some people may have issue with GPS. Mostly new bootrom. Not sure if the ipad baseband GPS issue has been fixed or not.

Nope, unless you know Tim Cook. Ask if he can cook you a 5.0.1 for your 3g.

There is another way, custom ipsw (try at your own risk). Look for Whited00r. Not sure if is still alive or not.

Which tools hard to tell. U can search by ios version the available tools. Check the baseband as well.

Hope it support ipad2 also. Can't wait to break 5.0.1.
