HI All,
I have a medical card+investment link with GE for 5-6yrs. It is the old one without co-insurance and co-charges. The ting is that is has overall limit of RM300k with annual limit of RM100k. I feel that it's not sufficient and wanna upgrade to higher. Anyone can advise? if i upgrade to higher, i will have new higher limit but then with co-insurance and co-charges. But i will start again with my waiting period. Also what happen if few months into the renewal, i make a claim, will they approve? Also what happen if the doctor claimed that the sickness exist before i sign the renewal, will they revert back to my old policy or terminate my policy? I dont want to take that risk. Another option is for me to get another medical card. Prefer additional RM100 (preferable no co-insurance or co-charges or with cap).

The Medical card coverage is still jalan.

In case u need operation at the hospital then GE will use the old medical card benefit to cover u

Waiting period is only for 30 days so no biggie. If for the past 5-6 yrs you were not dignosed with any serious illness then there is no pre-existing hence u can safely convert to new policy. If u own 2 medical policies, the claim procedure is abit complicated but still okay.

IMO if no pre-existing and can find a superior policy, it is better to terminate and buy new

Saw your post in the forum regarding you are looking to upgrade your current medical card or to purchase a new 1.

Well i suggest you to maintain the original policy as:
1) without co-insurance which now in market very dificult to find
2) no need to take the risk to wait for another 90 days waiting period . . . .

Nothing much to be covered with $100 a month. That's like the bare minimum already. Furthermore if the age is higher that makes it even less favourable. Try increasing your budget to have better coverage.

I disagree. For around RM110 a month, I get RM250k yearly medical insurance coverage (RM1.15 million lifetime), RM270k CI, RM200k PA. Good or not tongue.gif

You got to hunt for the best deals and know how to mix and match.

Bro Wong,

None of the above. I don't need life insurance as I'm single and plan to stay that way.

My medical cards, CI, PA are standalone policies from general insurers.

In my opinion, you should remain your current Medicard+investment as if you continue with your investment link you insurance is auto renewal.

If you done survey you will note that with co insurance medicard normally have higher coverage sum where some can reach up to 750K.

Questions: I will take 2 assumption
1. If you are working I believe you should use your company medicard for any coverage as long as you with the company and normally they would provide coverage like what Veda said high coverage minimal payment as this is consider under group insurance.
2. If you worry you might use up the value of your medical card then I would recommend you find another medical card which have renewal sum assured value after every calender year as what been provided by AXA Assurance now. Yes there will be waiting period.

Good luck hope this help

don't think that msia has medical card that covers normal cough and cold.. but followup costs would be covered by most medical cards

Hong Leong has a medical card with no co-insurance and guaranteed renewable until age 100.

if u are interested in getting a medical card, please PM me for more details.

should be.. maybe some other people can advise us. For HLA, the medical card covers up to 60 days from discharge from hospital.

For those who want to top up on their existing card, we have a plan that has low premium <RM300/year for those below 30.

PM if u require a brochure.

He is asking for follow up treatments on cough and colds and fever! Med card does not provide this unless it's hospitalized then only ur statement valid.

As far as I'm concern I've only seen Kurnia medical card has outpatient treatment on cold and cough I mean outpatient general practitioner consultation.

Dear Calcom,

If you had yet to find a solution, there's something in the market called 2nd Medical Card.
Only your 2nd Card would be co-insurance, you have got:-
- additional 50,000 annual limit
- additional 500,000 lifetime limit
- you can use both cards at the same time (subject to the hospital is a panel to both Insurance company)

I would suggest to maintain your old Medical Card. there's nothing in the market now could replace that!
At the old price you are getting & at such a return rate (investment link).

If you are still keen & interested about the 2nd Medical Card, do PM me for more details.

They still sell those cards? Last I remember they call it "buang duit" for a reason, and even then there is a limit to how much outpatient treatment you can get.
