Ya.. i alrd read alrd..

Just that there is quite some info that i'm not so sure..
So bring out and ask,

Seems like after reading, with my budget of rm1k, there is nothing much can get & nothing much to look out.
But then agan if i just need the bike to ride around my neighbourhood, doing some exercise, it should be good enough ryte.

good but no stim, if you ride because of exercise, you probably will give up within weeks or days.

If you do it because you love it, you gonnna do it again and again. and spend again also la.

Either you stick with the giant/tesco bike or fork out approx rm1800 for a better bike. Any in between is wastin $$.

boss, mine is the Diablo Pro Raleigh, below 1k also, but 21'speed only la.
Planning to upgrade to 24 speed above soon.
Consider the most basic MTB u can find with a good package. I bought much lower than the price stated.

This is the tricky part...
As mentidoned in page 1... all MTB around this price are the same.
So, go for the look. You can sout around few shops then come back here and ask questions like
"If I wan to buy RockBike or Nexus Bike, where can I find the cheapest in Klang Valley?"

But strangely, not many of us know where to get these bikes.
For RM2k, it is the hardest range to decide as it is neither here or there. If you go back to MTB Heaven V13... u will see me asking the same question. And I got no reply.
At RM2k, go for the look. U like, u take. Every shop has their RM2k range bike. All are about the same. After all, once you like the sport, you will keep none of the bike or bike component in your future upgrade.

Not to say not good. It is ok. Read page 1 and u will know. And as above reply... buy the one that pleases your eyes.

For both hikano and negisf, there is a saying...
"Poor man pays twice"
But in MTB heaven this got its continuation...

"Poor man pays twice, rich man pays 10 times more"

Either 21 speed or 24 speed... it doesnt matter. It will not make you stronger or your bike worth more.
In fact, 21 speed is lighter... theoretically.
Just make sure your biggest cassette ring has same number of teeth at those 27 speed bikes or 2x10 speed bikes.
And the front small one has same or smaller teeth chain ring as those expensive ones.
At the end, how many speed doesn't really matter. You just want the set up enables you to climb steep hills. How fast your bike can go on flat tarmac is really not an MTB concern...
