Hey seniors, i would like to know hw fast will Uniten reply us once we have submitted all the application documents?? Thank you smile.gif

perhaps 15 days, when it comes to new intake applications, they are bloody TOP CLASS, for their timings and preparations for you to arrive. For any other applications in campus, you would be extremely glad if they can finish in 1 month.. tongue.gif

*
umm..... when you come in on monday of orientation, you should be checking into your room already. From my past, when i just entered Day 1, i was brought to the apartment first, checked in, have my stuff placed, then only proceed to orientation program in the afternoon and for the next few days.

Your posts have been very convinving though, even my uncles said that UNITEN isn't really doing much good now. For someone planning on majoring Civil/Mechanical engineering, what do you recommend other alternatives of university then?
*
because i'm way past the credit transfer window, i haven't really seeked out reviews of other universities for a very long time.. Back in my earlier post-spm days, i looked at Segi's UK transfer program with Sheffield, (1+3), Monash Sunway, Nottingham Malaysia's (1+3) degree transfer, as well as Universiti Teknologi Petronas, at Tronoh Perak. These are some of the recommnedations i may have for you, but its best you seek forums on these universities to know yourself if they are really better. I'm for one, here in uniten's forum reminding you guys, DONT ENROL here. icon_rolleyes.gif

I applied for E&E in Uniten. May i know hws the quality of the course? Besides, if were to choose between Utar and Uniten, which is better? I will only consider this 2 uni for my personal reaons. Thanks.
*
ok, i respect your 2 decisions, but if i were you, i would include MMU as well into your consideration. E&E is more famous at MMU than any of these 2 uni's. BUT... if you saw my post from 1 or 2 pages earlier, i think you would understand why i would tell you UTAR is now a better choice than UNITEN. Besides, UTAR is majority chinese students, and from your "walao, GG.com" , it definitely sounds like you're a chinese dota-player. brows.gif i think you will enjoy UTAR alot more than UNITEN. and UTAR from what people said, has quite good standards as well, though command of English in that place is not really up to scratch apparently.

I heard foundation students can't use their own vehicle, is this true? and is it possible to go for a Degree in ME if you were, lets say.... a CE foundy student?
*
now, everyone can use their own vehicle. And this has caused more cars than parking in uni. And despite the admin's own fault of not enforcing the rule, they go on and clamp people who park unaccordingly and earn RM 100 per vehicle clamped. Its money for them, so they seem to enjoy doing this... I think when you enter foundation for a particular course, you should've decided by then already. Perhaps you can go to the Dean of the college to consult this matter, but depends on whether you know what you're asking or not. Careless words with the Engineering Dean, and you'll get a good whiplash of words from him. He's not a person known to have alot of time to talk with students .. lol

ahaha. This is like the insider news of the university. I bet you go other forums u try hard enough on other universities, they too have some insider news, and these are usually bad too. But, this for one, i seem to be promoting very extensively, because i myself as an existing student, is pissed and fed up of the admin's attitude, so i thought it'd be best to hit them back by doing this. IF you want anything good of this uni, try calling their hotline number smile.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif you will get TONNES OF GOOD REVIEWS of this uni. lol

Basically, foundation student not allowed to bring own vehicle to the campus. Unless you're staying outside, its allowable.  brows.gif

For the 2nd question. Yes, sure. You can change course. But only right after the foundation year ends. Can discuss with the Head Of Department. Most of the student are allowed to change course. Depends on HOD decision.

Don't worry. HOD are human too. They don't eat people liao. But, what I can say. Most HOD is very friendly. Don't get me wrong. But, I always see HOD. Every start of new semester.  whistling.gif
*
I highly doubt your explanation for foundation students not allowed to bring their cars. I have seen many foundation students bringing their own cars and they horde all over the college parking with one car per person instead of car pooling with their friends. And its not only that, they park like its their house.[2 lots taken up by 1 selfish car] When i seek explanation on the parking rules in the admin, they say what you say as well. But when i asked, the foundations back in the apartment parking grounds "kenapa boleh bawa kereta? bukan foundy admin tak bagi?" Their reply was: "admin tak tau, so diam-diam lah". The reality seems to be very different.

Im quite pissed of with Uniten's efficiency. Yesterday i tried to call every single Uniten's enrolment unit contact no. for countless time but no one seems to pick up the call. And today i try it again the same situation happens. Such a terrible service!!!!
*
so you get a rough idea how it will be like in their overall efficiency, the same can be expected not just from their telephone service, but also from other services as well. I once had no venue for my test because of the admin mess. I had to stand and wait outside the exam hall until 1 hour later than the test's actual starting time before they allowed all the students in.

omg.....admin inefficiency aside, hws the students there? are they competitive? i prefer competitive environment.
*
that again, depends on your luck. Depending on which class/section you get, the students in the class may differ. Some can be very good , some can be very bad. On average, one class has about 10% excellent students, 20% good students, 40% average students and 30% poor students.

Dear seniors, can we safely assume that by solving past year questions, we can pass the final exam?
*
it does help, because some pass year questions are repeated again in the finals, just that the numbers are different. but, ultimately, you have to study and revise well, your whole semester's course. Sometimes, tutorial questions appear in the finals, quiz questions appear in finals, tips from lecturers, so its not necessarily 100% dependant on pass year alone. They DO HELP i'll say that. BUT, its not your Holy Book, whereby, its not the only thing that you can depend on. laugh.gif

Hey seniors, would like to ask if i enter degree in Uniten without any scholarship, can i apply for scholarship by using my results from year 1 sem 1 in degree if i happen to have good results??
*
umm.. not sure if degree results allowed or not. Usually its classified as undergraduate/postgraduate scholarship. Undergraduate scholarship is usually based on foundation/spm/stpm/a-levels/matrics, results.. Postgraduate scholarship for PhD/Masters study, is based on CGPA for entire degree. But i have never seen anyone take up a scholarship during the degree itself. Maybe you can try applying, BUT, you better make sure your result is good enough first~ nod.gif

ohh too bad...no scholarship sad.gif ....btw if i were stay out of campus, which area is recommended? Preferably cheap, convenient n v near to campus.
*
Bangi is cheap, but quite far. Serdang/Seri Kembangan/Kajang are the best choices. But house rentals in these areas are going up quite fast, because of university students. 2 years ago, one house was around 700-800. Now, its mostly 1400-1500, some even more expensive.

Wow do they have such thing like ranking?? What is the benefit of being listed?
*
the ranking to me, is useless. Here is another problem with this university's academic mentality. They're encouraging you to go back to secondary school mentality, where, No.1 is everything. You dont get top student, your parents whack you.

But, this is now university we're talking about. You dont set yourself to be "top student" in a university anymore. Okay, you be No. 1 ranked in whole uni, apart from showing off, what else do you get. Tell your employer in job interview you're Top 1, in your whole university, they dont give a s**t or even a single f***k.. You study the ***** out of your *** , and get your Top 100, but then, where's gonna be your "university life"? where's gonna be your friends. where's gonna be your happy life. Honestly, whoever who targets to enter the SO-CALLED "Top 100" rankings, i woud like to print you a NERD CERTIFICATE. forget about Dean's List, you dont deserve it.

Just study and do your best. DONT EVER THINK ABOUT THAT STUPID RANKING. You get a 4.0, good for you, you dont, its okay.NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. You dont tell yourself: "" oooh s**t i need to get 4.0 every semester~!! "" DONT BE A SCHOOL KID. there's a few of them especially the Chinese nerds, in the uni at the moment , and i absolutely hate them on their Super Asian Mentality... vmad.gif

i did exactly that ,,, then i was shattered

well, i may have to concede my statements are biased. Fair enough. But, unlike conventional statements which promote the university they-so-love, i'm a student myself, and as you pay to enrol in your university, you would expect the university to meet your expectations. And when it doesn't, you obviously get upset. There are limits to individual capabilities just depending on how high it is. Whether its enough or not, thats entirely up to you. The difference i make from other "people of recent" here is, i show you the bad and ugly side of the university, they show you the skies and heavens. I didnt show you the "nirvana" of this university, because.. otherwise, what difference would that make to your "should i enrol or not".. If there are anyone who thinks i'm "messing up" this thread with "lies", then.. go ahead and continue "DECORATING" future posts. Its like a politician-society gone wrong scenario here.

So you can weigh your decisions from there. If you choose to enrol, welcome~!. End of the day, you get to decide WHO's RIGHT, WHO's NOT. For context, i came in as happy and excited as potential new intakes were. Only to end up like this after 3 years studying. I just so happen to be one of this forum user, out of the many critics out there, to be sharing out "hard facts" about the uni. I could've not bothered and just carried on seeing exciting posts and happy newcomers. I thought it's right to let people know some "CURRENT AFFAIRS" too.

well the problem is after i have read your comment i have already been accepted and continued to proceed with my visa application ... so i felt that i was tricked traveling half the world to go to an under unqualified college is kind of a big problem ... and transferring from one uni ti another for a international student is a nightmare  cancelling my visa to wait for the acceptance letter which i am not sure that  iam going to get that easily to making another visa to  relocating and going throw the whole process again . and all that in country i know nothing about ..... it just seems near impossibility from my prospective ...... so that's why i am freaking out  and now there are positive comments and negative comments and i don't know what to believe ... well either way i am coming to Malaysia on 22 of may , lets just hope that everything would be ok and i wont be needing to transfer to another uni
*
yea. indeed. Best wishes. I'm not trying to condemn you for making the wrong decision. Maybe its a little hard on you since you're far. i'm Sorry for that wacko.gif . But, would you have rather seen me tell you how uniten is fantastic as how some others are doing (especially, lately). or would you have rather seen me tell you everything that you're aware of and prepared to face, so far.
