Why want to fix to 1.8GHz? Normally it would downclock to 800MHz when idle..

Maybe yes maybe no, depends your usage,
if your usage always push the notebook keep using 2.3GHz, then you will get more battery life,
but if your notebook mostly on 800MHz, then less battery life..

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

If it keep clocking at 2.3Ghz the battery life will be shorter rather than stay at 800mhz. tongue.gif

A quick question, anyone knows how to judge a laptop graphic card via the digits behind the model name? What the digits stand for? Any idea?

Graphic cards with GDDR5 compared to DDR3, what is the difference? 1 GB GDDR5 can beat 2 GB DDR3?

Basically the first number represent their generation, 2nd/3rd number their performance class, last number represent their version (higher/lower clock speed) and of course some model has exception..

GDDR5 has double the DDR3 bandwidth. Nothing more.
1GB GDDR5 vs 2GB DDR3, if they are the exact same graphic card, then the 1GB GDDR5 wins. If not the same graphic card, the answer is depends.
