since your usage is gaming, the one that sifu lee recommended have a stronger gpu compared to gt540m in the xps 15. nevertheless, gt540m is supposed to be able to handle most game in medium/high setting but it wouldn't hurt if you can get stronger gpu with cheaper price laugh.gif

both can fulfill his need though. does he use dvd drive often? if not, a netbook will suffice, + more portability too

i5 with strong gpu under 2k is hard to find, this one fits the bill, though gt520m is not a particularly strong card

i don't see any problem between dual booting and netbook, should be no problem at all. plus linux works great even for a low spec machine

most games benefits on stronger gpu, but a few of them would rely on good cpu also to perform well. but i'll say no much difference for i5 and i7 if you plan on gaming. ram supported will depends on the model, motherboard and slot available. ram is cheap anyway
