the vostro is in my spreadsheet/watch list as well tongue.gif the last time i bought a laptop was 2 years ago, and i thought backlit kb is already standard for most >2k laptop range nowadays. really keen on the asus but lack of backlit kb is holding me back. does the acer timeline x have backlit as well? couldnt find the info from their website.

many thanks! icon_rolleyes.gif
*
no it doesn't have. your best bet for backlit kb with 2.5k budget is vostro 3450

1. Preferred Brand
2. Budget
3. Usage
4. Preferred laptop/screen size

1. Currently looking at Asus as I have tried on Lenovo and Acer. If any other suitable brands that meets my requirement I am glad to know about it too.

2. Budget around RM 3K

3. For software like AutoCAD and games like Civilization V & preparing for DotA 2.

4. 14" and higher. But the weight should not exceed 3kg preferably.

Hope to get replies soon! Btw, I have an eye on Asus N55SF and N53SN-SX269V. I have another question is that i7 core and i5 core is there much different if I am to use the laptop for AutoCAD and games like Civilization & DotA2?

Your kindness is greatly appreciated! laugh.gif
*
for one thing, it's dual core against quad core. so imo you will benefit from extra cpu power for AutoCAD and any other cpu intensive stuff. for gaming, gt555m should be able to handle all the game with good fps. So I'd say n55sf is pretty decent choice.

edit: given 3k budget, you can also get hp dv6 without beats with spec of i7-2630QM + AMD HD6770

i will be using it for working and light gaming

Hello,

I hope to get some opinion/review from you all here about Dell Latitude E6520 .
I could not find Dell Latitude Specific Post.

I currently used XPS M1530 for the past 4 years. Like it and dislike it.
Hence, I am looking for more reliable Laptop with better heat management.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell due to their professional After-Sales Support.
2. Budget: about MYR5,000
3. Usage: Works: Office, Coding (80%), Gaming (20%) ability to run Deux Ex Human Revolution at low/mid
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 15.6"
5. Preferred design: No Plastic alike, I prefer Aluminium such as Dell Busines Laptop Line: Vostro and Latitude.
6. Extra Note: No more warm hands. I usually on the move and most of the time, there was no aircondition.

Thanks and hope someone could recommend me either Dell or others.

e6520 is running on intel hd3000, so might not be suitable for gaming. consider xps15?

Default selection is Intel HD3000.
There is an another selection available - NVIDIA® NVS™ 4200M (GDDR3 512MB) Switchable Graphics.

ah yes, my mistake. but then that card is not particularly excellent for gaming imo. need to get sifu's feedback, lol

there's 3830tg and asus u36sd too, but you might get better recommendation if you state your budget and your usage too.

anyone can recommend me a laptop the following requirements?

at least 1366x768 resolution
13.3" screen size, 14.1" is also acceptable
slim, the slimmer the better
design wise, looks nice

i will be doing uni assignments on this notebook, and occasional 1080p h264 10bit viewing

price wise, im willing to fork up to RM3k for it

DONT WANT A MACBOOK AIR since for 3k i can only get 64gb, which is low imo
*
there are asus u36sd, vostro v131 and aspire s3

windows is os, office suite is another thing, chances are you might only get the office trial/starter pack or something (dunno what they called it) and you need to buy the office 2010 suite on your own.
