Got.... We chased one Nex 7 down summore smile.gif
A77 is already out, A65 currently a bit low on demand....
Manade? I heard John got it liao?
Then? Of course hold the shutter and wait for the magic to happen.

But once your buffer is full, the speed would drop drastically, and if you let the shutter button go, you are screwed for at least 20 secs before it can snap again.... Or at least, that's what my field test indicates =,=

Visiting the Sony Factory in Thailand, Ayutthaya

The 24,307m2 Sony factory in Ayutthaya (also known as STT-A) has been in production since 1988, traditionally focusing on on TV manufacturing. Part of Sony's strategy to streamline manufacturing and keep costs down by choosing the most suitable locations (a decision based also on available expertise, and supplies), the company decided to shift production from TVs to digital cameras in 2009; it is now one of the two DSLR manufacturing plants for Sony with the other located in Gifu, Japan. Since then, the factory has been producing the new NEX-3, NEX-5, A33 and A55 cameras. E-mount lenses (SEL16 & SEL1855) and A-mount (SAL1855) kit lenses that are bundled with the main units are also manufactured at the STT-A factory.

The lenses are assembled in a dust-free Clean Room to ensure optimum quality. The camera body and other key parts are made in Thailand with the exception of the sensors - these are imported into STT-A for assembly from Japan. (Photo courtesy of Sony)

As these products are made for worldwide distribution - with Europe taking the lead with 41%, Asia 27% and Japan 15%. The 3,400 workers (as of last month) work through two shifts per day, with 215,000 sets made in the month of October. There's more work and expansion to come; by February next year, production of Sony's Cyber-shot cameras will be integrated into the STT-A factory production line.

While the shift of production does not necessarily mirror Sony's shift of focus in terms of products, it is prevalent to note that hybrid/mirrorless cameras of the same caliber are increasingly gaining traction from consumers as reflected in sales in Asia, especially Japan. That corresponds well with the factory's more centralized location in the SEA region as it is able to deliver products, that also cost lesser to make and quicker to a highly price-sensitive market. While the demand for their bulkier and more extensive DSLR counterparts is still there, it would seem that the growing market share for hybrid/mirrorless cameras is a formidable force to tackle - not only in terms of upping your competitors but also considering resources and locations for production.

Canon Closes Factory
Canon Inc. halted operations at its inkjet printer plant in Ayutthaya because of flooding and will keep the factory closed tomorrow as a precautionary measure, Hirotomo Fujimori, a Tokyo- based spokesman for the company, said by phone today. Indorama Ventures Pcl (IVL), which says it’s the world’s largest producer of polyester, shut factories in Lopburi province that make wool yarns and polymers, the company said on Sept. 27.

Sony Corp.’s factory in Ayutthaya, which produces digital cameras and lenses, hasn’t suffered major damage from flooding and is operating as normal, Yasuhiro Okada, a Tokyo-based spokesman for the electronics maker, said by phone today.

but Nikon get hurt

user posted image

Nikon has stopped operation until October 6. The update, shared by Nikon Rumors, has the first floor of all buildings currently submerged. The factory manufactures digital single-lens reflex cameras and interchangeable lenses for these DSLRs.

Detailed damages are still being investigated, and how many people were hurt or killed is also still unknown. Nikon promises to update the public and its shareholders as soon as it gauges how its operations will be affected. The torrential downpours started in July.

you try adjust the exposure meter like this: f2.8, then adjust shutter speed until the bar move between 0 and +1

deadangel: Er I purposely made it so vivid lah.

jimlim007: All AF SLRs are using phase-detect AF when using the optical viewfinder. Only Sony uses phase-detect AF in Live View (except the A450 and NEX cameras without using the LA-EA2). The rest use contrast-detect AF in Live View to provide an uninterrupted view. Contrast-detect AF is slower.

I will try my shots again with wide angle focusing and see whether got difference or not. It's been awhile since I used that mode.

On another mode, canon's 1dx seems very powerful. But their 14fps really nothing more than a gimmick. Copy sony's multiple shot noise reduction some more.

Wonder how the a99 will turn out.
