wahts the difference between the dell you recommended with Samsung's s23a350h? The specs look the same but Dell's more pricey
*
U2312HM = Dell where the U infront means Ultrasharp.

Anyways, The Dell uses an IPS panel whereas the Samsung uses a TN panel.

What this means is that the Dell monitor would show you so many shades of colors that you wouldn't be able to see on the Samsung. The colors represented on the Dell monitor is more accurate than the Samsung as well. Another thing, let me put it in a user friendly perspective, when you tilt your head, the image would appear to be blurry / unclear on a normal panel. So your head must be at the right position all the time when using a TN panel. However when you're using the Dell, with the IPS panel, the image would still be viewable if you were to tilt your head. Another feature of the Dell is that you can turn the screen around , either in landscape mode or portrait mode. smile.gif

Hope it helps

Umm differences between U2312M and U2312HM? Not really good in monitor hardware stuff.. I'd like just a simple idea of what makes the difference.

U2312M still in market ka? Now Dell only releasing U2312HM..

My budget 500 to 600 im looking for 24inch monitor or 23, is anti glare monitor is better or clear or class  monitor? So is this hp hp x2301 is good for gaming?
*
Anti Glare monitor is good when you're in a room facing a light source. You wouldn't see much reflection on the screen. Of course depending on the quality of the panel, there will be some sacrifice in terms of brightness / colors. Glossy will always show better colors compared to matte (anti glare) but if you're sitting in a well lit / bright room, you'd see tons of reflections on the monitor.

From the specs listed for the monitor, it seems like it'll serve you well in terms of gaming, but almost everyone in this thread favors dell's monitors. If your budget is around RM600, Dell's U2312HM would serve you well. Its an IPS panel, so the screen is of a much higher quality than the TN panel from HP. For the difference between IPS (Dell) and the TN (HP) refer to my post above.

Hi guys,

Any other brand name besides DELL carrying good quality 23"-24" E-IPS LCD Panel?
*
LG has one. LG IPS236V

QUOTE(AlanSiew @ Dec 3 2011, 12:20 PM)
P2312H monitor is good too? hmm.gif but it is not E-IPS. hmm.gif
*
Well it was a budget problem but after reading through, i think I'll drop my recommendation of the P2312H. The U2312HM is still the best. smile.gif

Any comments on LG IPS236V?
I seems like a very affortable LED IPS panel. Good to own it?
*
I heard/read that it isn't too good for gaming. Other than that it should be okay as it uses the same panel as Dell's U2312HM iirc.

All the current IPS panel are having slower response time than TN panel. Slow response time means you might experience some ghosting especially on fast paced game like FPS.
*
Not only slow response time. Input lag is another disadvantage. If i recall correctly, the U2312HM has the most lowest time in input lag compared to other IPS panels which makes it a good buy.

Personally tested U2312HM.
All I can say is... same shit with other IPS.

In simple, if you're going for gaming, don't go near IPS.
IPS or TN, personally think doesn't make any obvious differences.
IPS has wider viewing angle, so what?
When we're using sure we'll adjust the LCD facing directly to us, right?
Unless you're doing yoga while surfing, then different story already.
*
Viewing angle matters to those who wants to put their lcd on a table and perhaps lie down to watch a movie or so.

To me, I'm getting it because of the color and brightness and the ability to adjust the position of the screen (portrait / landscape) and the height as well.

Perhaps your eyes are way too sensitive than they should be but from other forums (overclock / [H]ard) users aren't complaining about the U2412M or U2312HM. Maybe it depends on the games that are being played.

I've personally ordered the U2412M and U2312HM. Will test them in terms of gaming when I receive them.

This is what I said earlier on.

Fighting gamers can actually feel the lag while inputting commands for moves.
Personally I don't take ghosting effect too much in my concern as I put input-lag as main priority.
I'm not saying that the U's and P's suck, they are good, but for different purposes.
Yes the brightness and the contrast may be vary but barely noticeable.
Note that I've compared all of them side by side:
- AW2310
(Currently using | TN 3ms | Very satisfy. When playing FPS like MW3 I'm able to put it on 120hz for higher quality display)
- U2410
(Personal favorite | IPS 6ms | Because it has all the ports you need and you don't)
- U2312HM
(People's champion | IPS 8ms | Arguably the best LCD so far, in term of price and performance)
- U2711
(Big | IPS 6ms | Horribly high input-lag)
- U3011
(Bigger | IPS 7ms | Best for Japanese action x romance show)
- ST2320L
(Dell cheapest full HD | TN 2ms | Very good price for people who purely want a full HD)
- S2330MX
(Slim | TN 2ms | Super duper slim. The only downside is lack of HDMI port)

Note 2 : That was all my personal opinion, feel free to discuss.
*
You mentioned that the U2312HM is people's champion, however in your previous post you mentioned that its the same shit as with the other monitors.

Anyways, a quote from a different forum:

QUOTE(fstop @ Dec x xxxx, xx:xx xx)
I just got the U2312HM and I'm surprised how well it is for ganging. I play competitive shooters and input lag is basically a non-issue. Very comparable experience to my Asus VW266h 2ms monitor.

Any of you guys experiencing ghosting on the Dell monitors? To be honest, I don't see anything noticeable. I know there is slight ghosting to be reported by reviews but I really don't see it. I haven't played any super fast paced games yet (quake, racing games, etc) but I see little to no ghosting in Bf3, CSS, other shootings and ghosting tests online. Maybe eyes aren't as good as I thought or is the monitor that good? I've been seeding a lot of mixed opinions on ghosting...

Pulled the trigger on U2412M and U2312HM on Monday. Got it for a very nice price.

Dell confirmed that the monitors would be on their way to my house by the 15th of December.

Can't wait to receive them. Perhaps I'll do some small review / comparison if I have enough time.

Hey guys,

I've just received 2 monitors from Dell. The U2412M and U2312HM.

Currently The U2412M is number 2 but set as my main display while the system detected the U2312HM as monitor number 1, i had it demoted to secondary monitor.

The U2412M is currently in Landscape mode @ 1920 X 1200.

The U2312HM is currently in Portrait mode @ 1920 X 1080.

Mode: Extended display

Drivers are installed for both monitors.

My questions:

1) On windows desktop, If i were to use my mouse to move to the next screen, perhaps towards the top of the 24", it would seem as if there is an "invincible" wall that is blocking my cursor from moving to the next monitor. I have to move it lower to get it to go to the next screen. On the 23", Its the same, but since the monitor is in portrait mode, the "invincible" wall seems to be longer. How do i eliminate this? Or is this a limitation? (I tried setting both monitors @ 1920 x 1080 but its still the same.

2) When I start a game, and the game is running full screen on the 24" monitor, my cursor cannot access the 23" monitor. Is there a way for me to be able to use the 23" while a game is running full screen on the 24"? It'll be easier to search for walk through / read stuff / chat (Steam) while the 24" is occupied.

Thats all for now. smile.gif

1 - Right click on desktiop --> Screen Resolution. See the monitor that is shown? You can drag them so that the placement will be the same as the physical monitor, thus eliminating the invisible wall issue

2 - No unless you are running windowed mode

Thank you for the number 1 biggrin.gif

Although there is still a small wall as my 23" is in portrait mode, so its quite obvious that I cannot align the monitors together unless i set both to landscape mode. But so far this is much better than before. Thank you! smile.gif

My first impression for both the U2412M and U2312HM.

First:

The packaging irritated me. Slightly easy to take out, but I couldn't figure out how to put the polystyrene casing back into the box. So the boxes ended up in 1 cupboard and the polystyrene casing ended up in another.

Setting up was quite easy. Plug the USB cable, the DVI cable and the PowerPlug. The Monitor Holder slided in with easy and is quite sturdy.

Make sure to install the driver from the monitor provided in the Disc.

So far everything seems fine. Will add more if you guys request for it.
