ironinya, Malaysia adalah antara negara yang membantah decision ni (final game tak dijalankan serentak)

Owh kalau camtu if Sin vs Thai seri, letak suma reverse je la lantak la kalah besar ke apa nanti, piala AFF dulu pun kita kalah besar ngan Indon peringkat kumpulan, yg penting final nanti menang

The Indian national team held Malaysia to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly match played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati, on Sunday evening.

Syed Rahim Nabi scored the late equaliser for India to cancel Mohd Safiq Rahim's first half goal, as the men in blue drew their first match under new coach Savio Medeira.

Like his predecessors, Savio Medeira also adopted a 4-4-2 formation with Mahesh Gawli being named as the skipper. Joaquim Abranches started alongside Sunil Chhetri upfront while Jeje Lalpekhlua was named on the bench.

Jaspal Parmar started at right back in place of the injured Samir Naik to make his senior international debut while Jewel Raja was named alongside Climax Lawrence in central midfield.

Malaysia was also operating in a 4-4-2 system with center back Norhafiz Misbah being given the captain’armband. The highly rated Mohd Safiq Rahim started in central midfield while Indonesian based Safee Sali was on the bench after only joining the team in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The first real chance of the game fell to India when Steven Dias’ cross from the right wing found an unmarked Sunil Chhetri but the striker, who is linked with a move to Scotland’s Rangers, headed wide.

India saw a lot of the ball in the early stages but were struggling to create clear cut openings as Malaysia were well organized.

But as the first half progressed, Malaysia started improving and in the 33rd minute Abdul Yahaya forced a decent save off Karanjit after getting time and space on the Indian box.

Minutes later, Yahaya had an even better chance to put Malaysia ahead as he got behind the Indian backline but Karanjit came out well to produce another fine save.

The ASEAN nation’s increasing pressure finally paid off in the 41st minute when Mohd Safiq Rahim got on the end of a through pass after making a brilliant run from midfield and then slotted the ball past Karanjit to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

The Guwahati crowd, which was around 20,000, was very sporting as they cheered a fine goal from the Malaysian side.

There were no changes for either side at the interval and both teams started slowly in the second half as there were no real openings in the first ten minutes.

Coach Medeira made his first change as Anthony Pereira replaced Steven Dias but India were not really causing too many problems for the Malaysian defence.

There were two more Indian substitutions after the hour mark as Jeje came on for Joaquim while Lalrindika replaced Clifford Miranda.

India finally created a chance in the 64th minute when Jewel Raja sent in a teasing cross into the box which was met by Sunil’s head but deflected off Norhafiz for a corner.

Savio continued to change personnel as Climax made way for Mehraj and Malaysia too made their first change as the highly rated Safee Sali was brought on in place of Yahaya.

Despite the introduction of fresh legs, India were not really getting behind the Malaysian back four and the South-East Asian champions were looking to kill the game off on the break with Safee Sali causing problems to Mahesh Gawli and company.

Coach Rajagopal looked to take the sting out of the game by making several changes in the last 15 minutes but most crucially the dependable Norhafiz had to be taken off as he got hurt.

India started throwing more bodies forward in search of the equalizer and Savio also brought on Sushil Kumar in place of Sunil.

Jeje forced a fantastic save off Malaysian keeper Mohd Farizal Marlias in the 87th minute with a volley and that was by far India’s best attempt on goal in the second half.

That save from the Marlias led to a corner and from the eventual Anthony Pereira flagkick, Syed Rahim Nabi rose highest to head home the equaliser.

The equalizer brought a fantastic reaction from the Guwahati faithful and India looked eager to find the winner in the five added minutes.

In the end, Savio Medeira had to settle for a draw on his debut as India team coach as his side fought back well in the second half in the first ever international friendly in North-East India.
