Very true.. Which is why we are going to migrate to Aust at end of Feb after CNY. Sometimes it's not just about money (altho money plays an important role

vicious cycle isn't it?).
It is not an easy decision but we are willing to give it a go. I am bringing my wife and our 2yo daughter. I've already got a job, starting in March. We are Australian PR and we have a house there (previously rented out). It's scary yet exciting. Anyway one can only hope for the best.
Which part of Aust are you in?
Heading to Adelaide.. but maybe not so soon.. =)

damn, all coming to australia.... But Im going back for gd.
for those who have no more than 2 or 3 years experience in their field, i guess its no point coming over.
i graduated frm perth in 2011, been working in a very small company as graduate mechanical engineer, recently just got sacked due to the lack of projects.
my issue is I got only 1 year experience, cant get any interview opportunity out there
thing doesnt sounds too bad until i heard three of my frens who work in GHD, Aecom, and bhp also got sacked (1 of them now working as pizza deliverer )
so, for those coming in to oz, gd luck to yall in job finding as mining industry is not as gd as before.
Added on January 3, 2013, 4:13 amBtw, after reading so many comments, my guts feeeling to Australia is that:
Pros
1. Australia is an enjoyable place if u like a laid back life style, no rush, no anything. ( compare to sg n mas ).
2. You got human rights, you got paid if you OT. (UNIONs protect yr rights against employers, these unions would scare the hell out of yr employers)
3. You can earn 3x money than malaysia. Bring yr money back to malaysia, you would divide the price tag by three when you go anywhere in malaysia. I bet anyone working here would have experienced the same thing.
4. Gd for those ppl who doesnt want to open businesses. Small businesses are hard to survive in Aus. Too much laws n regulations. Payrate is too high even for a normal worker.
Cons
1. Lonely, no true frens. (all my besties are in malaysia, even GF)
2. Too KAMPONG. (at least its for Perth)
3. No nightlife (my nightlife 'definition' is mamak or dai-chao, im sick of maccas n jacks), pubs n bars are everywhere but i bet 1 day u'll sick of it too.
4. Racism ( damn ABOS r everywhere, huan gia are relatively better and gentle than them. Careful when they approach u, they'll ether ask
a. Can u spare me two dollars?
b. Can u spare me a ciggarettes?
5. Hard to survive if open a business. ( Reasons stated above)
Added on January 3, 2013, 4:17 amN forget about australia if you havent get a job or visa. (preferable PR rather than TR)
Added on January 3, 2013, 4:21 amOhh ya, anyone working in mechanical engineering field? Care to tell me whether yr company has vancancy for a graduate mechanical engineer?
Would you consider other parts of Australia? Try headhunters/recruitment agencies... good luck!

PR is not easy compare to last few years. the reason is simple for my case. occupation not in SOL list and full stop.
it only dark when daylight saving starts. DST was ended last 2 months and i quite like it. it start to get dark after 8:30pm so i still can enjoy sunlight after work. weather is a b**** though. prepare for 37c tomorrow

malaysia is awesome for me too but most of my friends are busy with their works(need to work at saturday as well? gosh).
Heard Canberra has a lot of occupations for sponsorship.. have you tried looking there?
I returned from Japan recently and it gets dark at 530 pm. I don't think it's a problem for me.. but of course i know ppl who get depressed because it feels dark and gloomy all the time (like UK)..
Malaysia outside in the afternoon can also be 37 degrees? I think it's the dryness that's the problem...?
yea in Malaysia and Singapore most ppl will have to work a lot of the time... so... a bit no work-life balance... hence I'm looking at Australia... especially for ppl with family... you know last time my parents would bring the kids out to Taman Tasik Perdana for Sunday morning jogs/exercise and family time.. nowadays i think cannot already because either have to work... or too tired over the weekday and need rest... is that true for some of you?

Well, i heard more crapped stories from malaysia too. Wanna listen?
I have heard people say... "you think there is racism in Australia? I have never seen as much racism elsewhere than in Malaysia..."
which made me think that at least in Australia you get racially discriminated you sue and get millions?
