I got some questions, hope you can help.

1) How much does the DMS4 cost?
2) What's the benefit of having DMS 4? and what's the major difference between Pro and Lite?
3) Is it still feasible to mod my SPCH10000 model with a newer modchip, or better get another newer model?
4) I read about HDAdvance and USB eXtreme, and apparently it works with all PS2 models. Basically, you must transfer games to the HDD using the PS2 lens? Or can you hook it up to the PC and transfer from there?

Thanks and cheers biggrin.gif

edit: this is the way to play ps1 game for my ps2. (dont know what chip but worth a try)

To play, put ur ps1 disc. switch off. (stand by mode).
then press the same button to on and hold about 3 seconds (before ur ps2 off again)
and voila. it is the same as watching ahem dvds.

note: if u want to play ps2 games again, then u have to switch off everything and on the ps2 without holding for 3 sec.

next time edit ur post.

bout ur prob, r u trying to save game into memory card in slot 2? if yes, then its not a prob. most games (almost all) doesnt support saving into slot 2.
afaik. correct me if wrong.

if ur prob is cant access in the ps2 browser, or cant read/copy/delete then it must be ur ps2 prob. i cant help.

1)rm230-280 aint cheap.

2)benefit of dms are:

Specs DMS4 Professional

DMS4 PRO - DEV.olution Memory System 4 Professional

user posted image

DMS4 professional offers amateur coders and developres the ability to boot

"Homebrew" applications on their console, for development purposes. Furthermore DMS4 Pro allows you to watch
Multi-region DVD's on your system. Compatibility is comprehensive (Jap/USA/Asian V1-V10).
The feature packed big brother of the DMS4 Lite has a 2MB flash to store Homebrew ELF files within the internal flash
memory. The DMS4 Pro has all the features of the Lite, further it boasts enhanced security, larger flash memory and will
have extra features added in software at no extra cost in future update builds.

Auto-detect and boot of all media types

DMS4 will automatically detect whether a PS1, PS2 CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD9 or DVD+RW (Homebrew Elf's), original domestic CD/DVD is inserted and then boot it without any interaction from the user.

Reduced wire Count

17 wires for v1-v7 PAL/USA or 18 wires for v1-v7 Japan/Asian
18 wires for v9-v10 USA and PAL (19 with DVD+/-RW support / T wire) or 19 wires for V8,9 and 10 Japan/Asian (20 with DVD+/-RW support / T wire)

High capacity flash

We now use a 2MB flash in our design to accomodate future flash upgrades with enhancements and extra integrated features.

Unrivaled boot success rate and compatibility

The boot rate of DMS4 is nigh on 100%. The DMS4 Supports V1-V10 USA/ASIAN and PAL

Flash upgrade via CD

The popular CD flash upgrade first introduced by DMS3 and has been retained offering a choice of firmware upgrade

options.

DVD region Free with RCE support.

Watch all region DVD movies on your PS2.

Colour Fix

Force the colour mode to your choice.

Screen Fix

Green screen removed for Playback of DVD Movies.

DEV.olution Mode 1

Load appliactions and software from your PS2 Memory card using our specially integrated DEV.olution mode.

DEV.olution Mode 2

Load applications and software from your PS2 HDD using our specially integrated software. DEV.olution 2 is the successor to DEV.olution 1 mode.

Software Modchip disable

Disable the Modchip in software by pushing Square on the Joypad.

3)if i m not mistaken ur machine is v1..so it should be compatible

4)i recommend HDLOADER.. the real deal..aint those 2 class programmes. u can instal the games via the console it self, it will take a while, but using a software called WINHIIP1.7.3, u can connect your ps2 hdd to your pc and instal the games faster. and oh yeah, ur pc must have a dvd drive.

snipersnake, thank you for your comprehensive reply. Now, I'm contemplating on whether to get another PS2 or maintain using this V1. The lens is a bit dodgy now, and I don't think I can replace the lens anywhere now.

RM230-280 huh? Around the price of my Xecuter 2, so I guess that's normal.

Again, thanks for the info.

Hi all

I am a newbie here. Planning to get PS2 ... guess only the slim ps2 is available.

The PS2 is for my 8 year old son who will be playing the kids only games. I do not think I will ever be playing it.

Looks like will DMS4 Lite work for me, and how much is that cost ? Assuming I get the slim PS2 with the mod ? Need a ball park pricing to know that I am not 'sotong'.

Please PM me if you cannot post it here.

TQ TQ

Most of the PS2 sold here already came premodded, so there's no need for u to spend more for new mod chip.

you got a modchip which doesn't have the ps2 logo~. is also another name for it.. what it it... hm.. something call fast boot~ which skip to logo booting and direct play the games.

as for the movie part~. what console are you using ? FAT or Slim ?

let assume that you are using the clone modchip. (mostly yes. if you purchase locally) to play dvd movie.

place the dvd movie in the disc tray.
turn it off (hold reset button for 2 second)
turn it on while hoding the reset button until the Blue l.e.d when lit (the eject l.e.d) then let go.

if this method can't work there is another one

place the dvd movie in disc tray
double tap reset button to play movie.

to enable back the ps2 games to work.

the easier way is turn the ps2 power off (at the back of your ps2 which is near av input) and turn back on~
