Need some opinion here regarding good cable management.

First of all, i am a bad cable manager.Cant do good cable management since i got my C5.And to be honest, the C5 is a very hard cable management casing.lol..

And since i got my new LL 007, cable management had been fairly easier. This is the best i could do so far.If you guys can help me to do some improvement, please do let me know.Thanks..

When comes to cable management it would wise not to use too much of the port connecter of the case ...

it would just increases the difficulty of managing the cables ...

GT 7

you can refer to above link for how i manage the similar case ....
*
Thanks Doom for the link and advice. My main problem here is that the case's firewire cable is too short to connect to my mobo's rear firewire port. No chance for me to hide it under the mobo. That is why i need to put it on top of the mobo..Might redo the management later...

detailed pix my case' cable management (same internals) is on page 3 of the same thread doom posted. the 007's internals is one of the best cases ive used for cable management. working on cable management on that case is actually quite fun tongue.gif

personally, id rather only connect the front internals that i need the most which would be the USB ports. i havent used a firewire port in years. even if i did need firewire. id rather use the mobo's onboard..

but if u really need to use the port, my suggestion is to lengthen it. by DIYing an extension adapter cable or to cut off (ouch) the original cable and soldering extensions to it. id rather do the first one honestly.
*
Ooh...my shocking.gif ..Cutting them off?I dont think i am daring enough to do that, not to mention having the skills to do an extension.lol..Anyway, the suggestion is appreciated.I think i will just leave the usb port. I already did not plug in the sound port as the cable is too short to reach my karajan audio port at the back. All i need to do is unplug the firewire cable. About the PSU cables, did i do a correct job hiding them there?

QUOTE(Kataro @ Apr 16 2007, 10:31 AM)
just wondering, why you put the FM82 controller inside the floppy bay there? You run it full speed all the time? If you want to run it slower, you need to open the side panel to turn it slower isn't it? Quite troublesome...for me lar... tongue.gif

Your floppy bay is good ler, the screw hole is not fix, so can adjust...mine is the toolless one and it only have round hole there, mean the position of the screw is fix, so quite hard for me to fix the controller shakehead.gif  now I am using double side tape so that it will not leave a hole at the floppy bay there... (hope you guys get what I mean...no camera, can't show the pic... cry.gif )
*
The main reason for me putting it there was because of the controller being silver color.I wanted a black one but too bad FM82 doesnt come with a black one.If i put it facing outsite at the floppy bay, it would not match my black casing.Anyway, i am running it at around 60% of the speed right now and wont be changing them as this is the max noise i could tolerate. Will be getting the FM121 soon with black controller and fix it at the floppy bay to match the case or else, get that 3 fan controller from SS for all my SS fan in the casing...

I understand what you mean there.Previously, my C5 is also having this problem as well as my cousin who is using the TJ06.Both of us need to stick it using double sided tape at the floopy bay to fix it there.Later, i switch it to the inside and screw it there...

@akachester

There's nth more u could do with the PSU cable anymore it's the best way to hide it already ... the only issue is u have too much of other cables that stuck in the same direction as well ...

What i did last time was to built a custom length of Sata power connecter the cable goes through the case on the other side and up to the power source.

in total i did only have one power cable sourced from PSU two support HDD, and optical drives. (the opitcal drive powe cable was custom made as well)

besides that remember to tie up the cables that goes through the mobo to the other side of the case.
*
QUOTE(mADmAN @ Apr 16 2007, 05:26 PM)
dunno la...somehow im just not quite happy with the top right corner of akachester's case. seems like theres TOO MUCH cables going through there...

mine only had the 24pin atx, SATA power and 1 molex power cable going thru. the rest i hid them in the cdrom bay.
*
Alright guys, really thanks for the great input there. I will try to redo my cable management after i finish my exams and hopefully it will be better next time.

@mADmAN, do you think i should hide the other cables at the CD-Rom bay?Would that look nicer?

@Doom, i actually just tied all of the cables up using cable tie. I was thinking about changing my PSU soon so i did not do anything about fixing them nicely. And i will be taking out those casing cables as well. If i got the chance, i might sleeve them as well.

Anyway, appreciate the comments there thumbup.gif notworthy.gif ..Will be doing better cable management next time and hopefully get more input from you guys as well...

Nah..Modular PSU isnt my kind of thing.Used to like them during the early days but after listening to some problems, i drop my interest in them..

Anyway Doom, in ur GT7 thread, are you using modular PSU there? This is because the cables coming from my PSU is alot and i cant seem to find a place to hide them away from normal eyesight. But from ur GT7,it seems you are able to hide them nicely, not like mine

Yes i was using Enermax Liberty 500 watts before it been blown by lightning strike ...

There's spaces above the top CD-ROM bay ... that allowed u to store those excessive cables .... but it would be a bit tight so need to tie those uneeded cables befoe chuck it in ...

then leave out one of two power cables for ur ROM, HDD and fan usage.

@mADmAN
I do agree with u that after plug in the cables it would be a little messy for the PSU area ... .that's one mistake that i over look last time before getting the modular PSU ....
*
Ic..I should avoid the modular PSUs then. Will try to redo the management and chuck in those cables at the ROM area later and see how is the results...

Went to LYP today and i couldnt resist myself getting the Silverstone ST56F. And i thought i do not need to redo my cable management during my exam period. Anyway, i just try to do my best this time with some advice from Doom and mADmAN. This time, i tried to hide some of the cables at the 5.25" bay and try to take out as many casing cables as possible. This is my cable management redo. Please do give me some opinion if improvement can be done.Thanks..

this is really how it should be, ..... maybe u just need to sleeve the cables black to match ur PSU cables...

after all it's really much more better than before..
*
Well, i am going to sleeve those cables but i needed to find them first..lol..And i also though of changing that IDE cable to a black color version from CM as well to match it..Is there any IDE cable that only come with one connector instead of 2?I find having 2 connector but only 1 IDE device to be quite troublesome..

Poison dah..feel like ditching CM5 and go get 1 pc7 tml doh.gif

Btw, u can try fold the ide cable to route under ur mobo or put sound insulation
*
Well, to be honest, C5 is a headache when it comes to cable management.I couldnt even do any of them last time. They created a big hole beside the PSU and i thought of using it to dispose some of the unneeded cables but heck, its impossible. Not to mention hiding them is hard. When i bought the PC-7, its pretty easy to hide them (still hard cause i am not so good at cable management). At least there are more places for you to place your cables...

QUOTE(LittleLinnet @ Apr 24 2007, 11:18 PM)
Very Nice.
Just wondering, how much you got the corsair RAM Cooling module?

Sleeving those other cables in black would be nice. Go Go Go.
And i think you could get those ribbon IDE and try folding it.
It might looks better than the rounded IDE.

AFAIK, there is IDE cable for 1 device. But, just dont think that CoolerMaster have those
*
Well, i purchased it today at C-Zone selling at RM120. But i have seen in PC-Zone pricelist saying its for sale at RM90 only though.ALL IT also have them and the last time i ask, its about RM110. Not sure they still have it or not though..

I dont really like ribbon cables. I dont know why even though i have a few which is in black.Came with Asus i think..lol...I was looking forward for a 1 connector IDE round cable for better management but couldnt find them. I still remember CM having it but its in white while i wanted something to be in black though..

lol..I also wanted to put it on 4 ram slots but my freaking Zalman Fatal1ty is blocking the way rclxub.gif ..Just realised that when i purchased the ram cooler..lol..Need to ditch the Fatal1ty asap once i got my budget.Causing me alot of headache..

Anyway, its original ram sinks that came together with the Zerotherm GX810.As far as i know, Zerotherm ramsinks can either be in green or in purple..

I dont like the fact that my DVD Writer is at the 2nd slot though.I still prefer it to be at first. Is there any other way of hiding those cables that are there if i were to switch my DVD writer back to the 1st slot?

this extension slot is to be use with FP52, with lotsa space u don't to worry bout the cables that connect to the device (FP52)

+ u can mount ur HDD there, got 4 screws hole on the base of it, but i seriously wouldn't do that as the HDD tends to get hot as no fan to mount it with + vibration some more...

sad thing is this extension slot only got screws thread holes on the back of it, so u can only screwed it at the back, i'm pretty sure it's strong enough to hold all the PSU's cable but not the PSU itself laugh.gif
*
Ic, but i cant put this at my 2nd 5.25" slot.Because i feel that the cable will still be visible from the side panel view wont it? hmm.gif I think i will try to switch the DVD writer back to the 1st slot, take out all the cables that are already there and try to tie it at the top of with a cable tie and a mounting base..Maybe that will be better..

Well, just gotten my hands on a single slot IDE connector cable from Cooler Master for just RM7..lol..

Its shorter than the rounded 2 slot IDE cable and makes cable management easier now...

Well, my cousin got it for me in a shop in Ipoh. Not sure where that is but its really cheap. Try look around in LYP and Sri Computer. The last time my cousin was there, he got himself the black rounded CM Ide Cable for only RM10. Once while, there is hidden treasure (as in cheap cables) lying around in Sri Comp...

I also did the same, which is facing the cables at the front fan side. However, i just wanted to replace those sata cables with those L shapes one and in the future, i am surely going to add more HDD capacity into my PC.Just wanted to buy them for future case now..lol..

Guess, i am just contented with the PC-7 for now.Cable management seems to be easy with this casing.Try using the C5 and you will notice the difference..
