isnt that clorox hazardous to the flora and fauna community in the tank? how to determine that the diffuser is fully clorox free? thanks. noob question here.hehe
*
Clorox or bleach is just chlorine... After you finish bleaching it, clean it under running water then dip it inside some anti-chlorine solution. Those cheap RM1 per bottle to remove the chlorine from aquarium water.

did mine with clorox for about 10 mins. Then rinse it throughly and put it back into the tank. But bubles still same, big bubbles, unlike when new...

Need to soak longer? or more concentrated without adding water...
*
No need to mix with water at all, just put a few drops of concentrated clorox over the white disc area.

If it still doesn't work, drastic measures would be to get a syringe and pump clorox through the white disc via the co2 tube... flex.gif

And also don't disconnect it from the Co2 pipe, I broke my first glass co2 diffuser when I took it out for cleaning one day... cry.gif

IMO any electrician will do... Try contacting fluval Malaysia or find their authorised dealer here.

If all else fails, you will need to DIY the lights. I think small compact fluorescent lights can fit into the cover.

BTW nice tank... thumbup.gif I saw the thread about it last time...

help me!! my water condition are very murky, hazy! crazy....!! this happen after installed new eheim 2213 yesterday, I put 1 bacter ball on the top layer of filter container, is that the cause of this? or should i wait for a few days to settle it down?

should i install activated carbon pad provided with this eheim filter?

released 2 SAE yesterday, 1 R.I.P this morning...1 still healthy as well, 1 tetra also died, banyak pening this few days set up my tank, last week i put 'Zero Algae" killer, all my riccias are melting, like sayur goreng already...

TQ Taikos....
*
Wait for few days it will settle by itself, most probably bacteria boom due to the new media, and the bacter ball is working... And don't add too many fish too fast.

My advice is never use chemical algae remover/killer, it'll kill some species of flora, and you won't even know it until they start dying. Find the cause and treat the source, if not you'll be facing this problem over and over again. Normally chemical algae remover only for fish only tank.

regarding to activated carbon pad, should i install together with other media or take it off from the filter container?
*
Since your tank is a established one, IMO there is no need for the carbon pad. As normally in planted tank we only require it during the initial set up when there is nitrate and ammonia surge.

TQVM, will update in next few days..

anybody knows where to get elbow connector for 12/16 hose? or eheim had their product in the market?
*
Telling use where you stay would be a good start... We'll refer you to the one nearest.

Generally, for spare parts for EHEIM, IME I found that only The Pet Family sells them. More complete.

i have 3 flying fox n 4 oto in my tank..actually i wonder whether whats their functions in between oto, flying fox n dory.

my flying fox n dory used to sweep the soil, making my carpet plants float up...IShhh.. but i love my oto.. they are so cute. like to stick at long things such as thermometer, pipe, and even the net (fish catcher) when i put there. SOmetimes, i just simply put the net there, n 4 otos stick it..so cute~!

when i put my hand there, they cum n stick my hand..^^

Wrong. Even if you have no plants, keeping otto helps your tank
clean from various algae, especially if you have long term lighting.
*
Just get normal pleco enough, otto too sensitive and won't last long in non planted tank...

hi guys...

I am doing some survey...

how much money would you spend on filters...

examples...need 2000+ liters of flow rate in a 350 liter tank...

would you buy...

2x eheim 2217 - 1000 flow rate (rm500 x2)
2x eheim 2028 - 1050 flow rate (rm1100 x2)
2x Tetra Ex120 - 1100 flow rate (rm550 x2)
2x Fluval 405 - 1200 flow rate (rm500 x2)
2x dolphin 1600 - 1200 flow rate (rm300 x2)

In My Opinion,

Eheim, for its durabilty, silence and availabilty of spare parts and almost annual promotion... rclxms.gif tongue.gif blush.gif
I feel that all the extra features in 2028 is not a necessity but a luxury, so no need. If you want better, I would go for the ecco series, more quiet and easier to clean.

My friend got tetra, it looks cool, but not as durable as eheim. He just change his Ex120 to eheim 2217 few months ago when there was promotion.

Fluval, no spare parts.

Dolpin, if tight on budget, but once got money or promotion, I'll change to eheim...

EHEIM FOREVER!!! thumbup.gif

wonder why u need such flowrate... normal system shud only 3-4x of the tank volume rite?
*
There is 2 sides to this, 1 side says mild filtration is enough and it only functions to give some flow to the water. Another says you can never have enough filtration, as long as it doesn't up root the plants.

So thats why some will say 2213 for a 2 ft while some says 2215 for a 2ft tank. Its all up to personal preference. I've tried 2213 for a 2ft and also 2213+2232 for a 2ft, not much difference really. blush.gif

Probably it's coz of tannin. I did boild, scrub, wash, soak the drifwood for 1 week ++. Hmm, what should i do to make the tank crystal clear water? sad.gif
*
Take the wood out and put it in the toilet water tank, if it fits la. So every time you flush, you will be changing the water and it doesn't goes to waste... tongue.gif

Ya and change water around 20-30% a day, or just put activated carbon.

Cause he wants to put them in a non filtered tank with guppies...

whitish cloudy.
i raed some articles that it was bacteria bloom when first starting tank.
but this tank already few months old. it does not have this problem when i first started it.
this condition started last month. until now, i had put almost 10scoops of bacter100, change water 10%-20% weekly.
*
Did you do anything to destroy the bacteria colony? Wash the filter recently? Added any antibiotics? Treated any blue green algae?

Any change to the tank before the clouding starts?

I think you stop with the bacter 100 first.

I just broke my glass diffuser...  cry.gif  damn fragile! Now I want to use inline diffuser. Just need some advise before put it on.

Shall I put it near the outlet hose after the double valve of 2215?

Is it save in term of water backflow to bubble counter and CO2 tank when i shut off the CO2 tank or when CO2 tank empty? will the water in the canister hose flow through the ceramic?

Can normal transparent air hose be used or I need the pressurized air hose?

My diffuser look like this [attachmentid=2633929]
*
I've used this before and already broke mine. Don't drop this one, its as fragile.
Put at outlet, if you put at inlet there will be a lot of noise from the canister.
So far I've used no back flow, but just put check valve just in case.
Normal air hose can already, make sure you push it all the way in, because I think pressure for inline is higher then for glass diffuser.

My tank attack by floating algae (green water). I had been using the uv light 9w for almost 6 days but the water still cloudy. Any best solution for green water?
*
UV light is not long term solution, find the cause of it.

Is it that the tank is over stocked with fish? Not enough water change? Direct sunlight hitting the tank? Your photoperiod too long?
