wei jie,
how do you spot planaria in aquarium tank. planaria isn't like something very small that cannot be seen by human eyes?
and does it brings harm to the lifestock?
*
It is very small white color worms that dashing among my moss.
it will attack your shrimps when they are molting.
fish take them as snacks. too bad my cherry army took out whole population of guppy.
now padan muka them being attacked sweat.gif

Do you guys/gals know if it is possible to buy custom LED aquarium lighting that I can simply cut into the exact lenght? It needs to be 18,5cm wide...
*
are you planning to replace them for your aquarium light?
they are not suitable for planted aquarium, unless you know how to DIY 1W or 3W LED light.
i had read several forum about DIY LED for planted tank. most of them doesnt get good result compare to T5HO.

those LED sold in length can be easily found in those DIY light shop. Jalan pasar would be cheaper.

Thanks for the replies! Greatly appreciated.

The main thing is; I need aquarium lights. I have a Fluval 3D tank, the light died on me. I want to replace it, but Fluval Malaysia is not responding to my calls/mails. I think buying a whole new tank to strip the lighting from it is a bit too much (plus, the tank is about RM400). They do not sell separate lights. All aquarium shops in KL used to sell the Fluval 3D Edge, but apparently not anymore.

This is why I was looking into cheap and easy DIY, but of course only when it is with the same good effect as normal lighting. I also don't mind actual aquarium lamps, but the size of the hole directly in contact with open water is only 18,5x18,5x9cm (WxLxH).

Any suggestions?
*
i guess most of fish shop stop selling because the respond is bad?
first of all the design is really bad, with small opening, you will have less oxygen dissolve in water and heat are being trapped.

if you could take a picture of the old light bulb then maybe we could help you to find it.
if the light bulb is really not available in malaysia, i think the only choice is to replace with LED. you need to make sure that connection are really good or single splash would short circuit.

Or you should just get another set of new aquarium sweat.gif

weijie, how big is ur cherry shrimp tank? ^^

is it possible for me to raise around 100 shrimp inside 1.3ft tank??hehe.
*
hi desmond,
i am keeping them in a standard 3feet aquarium.
i dont think 1.3feet can hold up to 100 adult shrimps. shrimplets are 3mm to 1.5cm. Those adult shrimps in my aquarium are about 2cm.
even my current 3feet also i think maximum can hold about 300-500 adult shrimps.
if you feel they are over population then it is the time to share this happiness by selling them. smile.gif

Make sure that you keep a lot of mosses for shrimplets to hide. sometimes adult will hunt for shrimplets if there is not enough food.
Shrimps are omnivores.

lol weijie.. i like ur last sentence!!!! hahahahahaha. not so fast le mine, just started only ^^

now reali dilemma..got 3ft tank, plan to put the shrimp inside but full of fishes. @@

n yest i introduce some crs into 1.3ft tank, then the berried cherry mama no more egg adi..sad..

wow reali will be hunted?? advise noted. thanks ^^
*
shrimps can mix with fish. but dont put too much expectation to see shrimplets swimming la~ lol....

if cherry mama's egg dissapear then maybe you will see shrimplets later on? hehehhe...

you having same situation like me last time. i kept guppies and cherries because i like them both. but they ended up fighting and cherry won the war. now all survived guppies is moved to my 2feet aquarium which has no shrimps. 3feet tank already dominated by cherry army. sweat.gif

Eating youngsters are wild animal survival instinct. They are forced to feed on the weak for their species to survive. i planning to take some food timer from supplier for this purpose. Hopefully can get it about Rm30-Rm40. Whenever i go outstation, my cherry population decrease. i guess the main reason would be population are big and there is no food for few days. Since i changed to food timer in my cherry tank, i dont have to feed them manually everyday, just set feeding time at 8pm then i will see cherry having buffet when i reach home. no worries too for my xmas 7days trip smile.gif

*
i not sure if "no-planaria" is not working or i seeing the wrong creature. My tiny worms doesnt dissapear.
In fact, they are multiplying very fast.
I also not sure they harm my shrimps or not since i have too many to count them one by one doh.gif

GUyz....Do brand of aquarium lighting give anything different in term of brightness?

Except ADA  biggrin.gif
*
Basically no. refer to the color temperature of the light bulb.
different brand gives different design of casing, light bulb life span and PRICE. hehe

how big can a flying fox grow? I have a 4-5in long in my 2.5ft. Always sweep the soil when it rests on the floor.

[attachmentid=2624944]
*
Flying fox can grow till about 6inch max. Refer to here Wikipedia
Flying fox or SAE shall not be more than 3inch if you are keeping moss tank. Bigger flying fox and SAE will take moss as snack if they are hungry.

i have 3 flying fox n 4 oto in my tank..actually i wonder whether whats their functions in between oto, flying fox n dory.

my flying fox n dory used to sweep the soil, making my carpet plants float up...IShhh.. but i love my oto.. they are so cute. like to stick at long things such as thermometer, pipe, and even the net (fish catcher) when i put there.
