Got my Insight on 16 Sept 2011. So far travelled 498km with another 350km range still available. FC is 22.7km. Superb handling in yesterday's heavy downpour up to Bangi. For 100k price, I would say it is value for money in Malaysia considering the ridiculous car prices. But looks like they are still killing us with an extra 20k for the AP.

I wasn't hypermiling but maintained below 110km/h with 4 persons and luggage plus full tank. 75% with Econ On. 25% with Econ Off. Btw, how do stop the engine auto stop at traffic light without moving to P?

Shift to R. It wont auto stop then...

Else fail, put in P or L? Do consider R 1st though.
*
I have to squeeze in my car porch and the engine stops and starts too often but just now with the Econ off, it moved without stopping.

The audio system is just so so. I have been advised not to strain the battery and the computer system by adding extras, such as an Amp. Anyone tried without affecting the lifespan of the normal battery or is it too early to tell?

I was kidding when I mentioned shifting into R. You should try L!! I got mine 3 days b4 you, how long did you wait? I got the Insight after getting sick of waiting for my Fiesta. I waited 2 and a half months.
*
I was thinking what a crazy idea rclxub.gif wondered how many cars you kissed. tongue.gif I didn't wait long. The car had just arrived on the 10th and placed a booking on the same day. Car was ready on Wednesday but I collected on the 16th.

Unig was right.

And to Calvin, I am okay with the bass but the fidelity is below my expectations. Any difference in FC and performance after installing the active sub. Technically, I believe extra load to the electrical system may void the warranty. Solutions?iPod?

Man, that's so fast! I mean, relatively faster than we all the earlier owner tongue.gif We waited like 2-6months to get our rides... hehe... and i gotta say, for the 1st tank, ur FC is very good! Even after 8000+km mileage, I am struggling to maintain good FC... always got spoilt by the traffic along Federal Hway... haha  sweat.gif
*
Just give a call and ask if ready stock available or not. If they say yes, go and see the car and then book. You should get them within a few days provided no problems with HP. If you go and say you want a car and place a booking then I think the waiting period is about 1 month.

I got 10 leaves only and not getting anymore. It is moving between 8 to 10 leaves. Let's see after 5000km. But I don't hypermile. Maybe, after 1000km I will push above 160km/h and see the FC.

i agree. i have no qualms with ron95. my concern is my IMA. going uphill going on charge, going downhill also on charging. my ima battery end up full lehh..im gonna ask the service centre to have a look.
by the way, regarding ron95 and 97, i have 2 friend using insight and RON95 (both of em). here are simple stat from their fuelly.com data:

(a) their consumption is 6.0L/100km and 5.0L/100 km respectively, while my car is 4.7L/100km (RON97).

(b) cost per km is 9.6cents/km and 11.17 cents/km respectively while my car hovers at 13.1cents/km (RON97).

.....
RON95 Shell- Highway- 4.4l/100km
RON95 Petronas - Morning/Evening Jam in KL - 5.9l/100km. So far 300km and there is another half tank of fuel left.

I will be most likely hitting the first 1000km this Saturday.

That is not acceptable at all. How can we drive without windscreen? Surely, the onus is on Honda Malaysia to stock adequate spare parts. drag them to consumer tribunal for not warning the customers that spare parts not available.

Windscreen cannot be so expensive. My SA told me it is about 4k. But if you get Honda Insight buddies from US to send it to us then the price is about US647. All in should not be more than RM3K. So the RM2k quoted above is a bargain. Link Honda Parts

I would also like to know... the RDS feature doesn't seem to work for me as well...
*
HM gave us a low spec radio without RDS. Type B in the manual is not the same with ours. I am already contemplating to drag them to consumer tribunal for misleading.

Off topic, did any of you guys get a copy of the AP for Insight?

Ok to clarify that the radio with RDS is without USB for ipod. So different specs and not under spec.
Thanks anyone else got the AP copy?

That's the point. CKD is cheaper than CBU when exemption expires in 2013.

If our driving condition is mostly below 32C, we only need to service every 12000KM. I have no idea why we are forced to change oil every 5000km because my driving hardly comes under "severe". HM and proton too are ripping us by forcing us to service every 5000km.

I have done about 1500km and only once the outside temperature was briefly above 32C. So I think it is time to ask HM and also other car dealers in Mlaysia why the 5000km service? Anyone with me?

I'm in!! count me in, im fully support. I'm previously Toyota user, eventhough their Service book mentioned every 5k but all Toyota SC said all toyota's cars can be service every 10k EVEN ITS NORMAL MINERAL OIL! they said their Normal mineral oil are top grades so they told me dont worry to much. I've drive my toyota for 6 years! no issue for every 10k service.

Engine perfectly running and no oil leaking at all. I believe Honda can do it but HM indirectly will void our warranty if we didnt follow the schedule period. If according to law, if not mistaken, we can dispute and argue for indirectly threatening consumer to follow the service schedule or else warranty void... zzz

I am planning to make an official complaint about the required every 5000KM service. I probably need many signatories as I believe that it is unethical to force customers to service car more often than required. If you guys remember that in 1997 when Peugeot launch the cars, one of their selling point was service was only required every 10000KM. I have checked with US maintenace manual and it also recommend something like 12000km under normal driving condition.

I think for a gentle use of a hybrid car, synthetic oil is unnecessary unless you expose your car to high revs. There are several automotive blogs explaining the difference between mineral and syntheitic oil.

Meanwhile, did HM overcharged us for the Insight? The government said zero duties so why are we paying RM99800 for a US19000 car? Even after adding the sales tax, it is still expensive. Our Honda Insight is the lowest of model of the insight.

my max record is close to 500km/32 litre only.  doh.gif

but very good already comparing to my NHC 300km/32 litre though.
*
With over 60% city and 40% highway I managed to clock 1024km for RM109 (RON95). So about 714Km for 40 liter or 1024km for 57.37liter. I believe if all highway driving I can hit 1000km.

Will poke them the question during next service. But they will probably say is the "rule". What can you do then? Unless we together made a official request/complain to HM to allow a longer service period or else still back to square.
*
I have gone through my invoice and other terms and conditions but it never stated that the car must be serviced by HM for the warranty to be valid. After the first service, I did ask why I need to service every 5K. The SA said never mind since it is free so take it.

Can we say that since the car warranty is for 3 years than all parts must be replaced for free within that period of time. icon_idea.gif

So they are not telling it will void the warranty but maybe an issue with the warranty claim in the future and I am very sure if you write a letter to them they wont confirm that in writing.

lol..the problem is that there is no email address published in their official website and neither in anywhere you can find it..
so, just screw it...since the SC in Klang allow us to extend up to 7km for using semi-sync engine oil, just switch over to there lor..considering their quality of service is better also
*
The SC is coy about the actual mileage for servicing. This may interest you http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/partsan...priceservicing/ This only happens where the government is interested in protecting the consumers rights.

And compare the maintenance cost of Insight and Accord 2.4.

For Insight RM8141.65

For Accord 2.4 RM7130.70

The difference is RM1100 but okaylah over 48 months. Just about 100 plus full tank of fuel. rclxub.gif

yeah..so, it means that we are forced to pay for the unnecessary engine oil change for such a short interval
although we are benefited through the free import duty scheme from the government but that doesn't mean HM could slaughter our $$ paying for unnecessary maintenance this way  vmad.gif
*
Not only that! HM has disabled the multi info display which will provide you the information about the engine oil lifespan. If you look at the manual all insight cars are monitored by the on board computer for maintenance. It will automatically remind you for service or whenever the engine oil quality drops. The only function I can change is the lock time, lights and the speedo colour. So why did HM disable the function?

BTW, is the toll free line working?
