Haha.. very obvious that the main advantage of Insight is the hybrid technology. I got a friend told me, the fuel consumption of Altis is comparable to Insight. Altis is more spacious and more powerful too, considering it's 1.8cc with Dual VVTI. By adding 13k, I can get Altis which is different class of car d. What do u guys say?

What do u find the most excitement of driving Insight car compare to others (same range of coz)?  tongue.gif
*
I don't think Altis's FC is comparable to Honda Insight in normal driving mode
From the feedback I got from other forums, the FC for Altis is considered good if it can hit 15km/litre

Do u mean Insight is any time better than Altis in term of fuel consumption?

In term of functionalities, things like auto wiper, auto lights on, keyless entry (does it mean I just need to press the button to start the car without turning the key like conventional way?) sound very cool to me, in which I don't think Altis has it.
*
in normal driving mode, Insight will have much better FC...not sure which will have better FC when you're driving in top speed mode all the while..
there is no push-start ignition feature in Insight lar sweat.gif

Done my 15k service last week.

By default, they are using SM 5W-30 Engine Oil (Semi) (RM99.80) and not the mineral oil as stated from honda website.
Remember to claim the RM40 e-voucher. The first bill they issue only deduct RM 20 for the e-voucher, but after verify again and they made some several calls, they issue me another bill with the deduction of RM40.  rclxms.gif

The next service (20k) will be very expensive!! RM 400 plus.. sweat. sweat...
*
hmnn..how much exactly the SC is charging us for the semi sync engine oil?
was it RM 117.41 or RM99.80 rclxub.gif

They give 15% discount on the semi sync engine oil, so is 117.41 - 15% . Will upload the invoice for my 5th service due in another month.

icic..wow, your mileage is moving fast
anyway, just to share with the folks here, I have received a sms notification from my sales agent
according to him, Kah Motor will be having a service campaign on 19-20th November at Puchong Service Center and 3rd-4th Dec 2011 at Chan Sow Lin Service Center.

If you bring your car to these SC for service during this campaign, you will be entitled for a free 20-point safety inspection + 25% off discount for parts replacement

Eh? I tot from the Honda website stated 4th service is RM181.50?? anyhow since we service every 5k, dun waste money on semi-syn oil

http://www.honda.com.my/insight/extra/maintenance/
*
yup.i gave a call to HM Malaysia asking if we are allowed to use mineral oil for the subsequent service after the first 3 times....the answer from HM was 'yes' but they would still recommend to use semi-sync oil for better performance and fuel efficiency..If not mistaken, apparently the price difference between the mineral oil and semi-sync oil is not so much difference blink.gif

just to share.
sent my ride for 20k km service and checked on the engine jerk and unstable acceleration issue.

i was told to change air filter, reset CVT and service regularly (WHICH I DID).
anyway, I have no choice but to use FULLY Syn engine oil as the SemiSyn-Oil is out of stocks!!

well, I must say, my IN2 is now MUCH nicer to cruise around, smoother engine (which originally already very smooth), battery easily fully charged, higher FC, now i can cruise for 820km for 30L petrol. i could feel that the engine is much much more responsive than before now.

anyway, high price to pay for the engine oil and total 20k km service. cost me RM513!!
*
how much the difference in terms of the pricing for semi-sync vs full-sync?
and does the full-sync also valid only as per the regular 5k service interval?

found a good seller supplying the Honda engine oil and filter at very reasonable price
anyone knows which SC which allows us to bring our own engine oil purchased from outside market for car servicing?

Just done the 15k service for my car..breakdown as below:

1.) Labour - RM62 (include tax)
2.) Engine oil (SL-5W-40) - RM140 (bought from outside dealer)
3.) Oil Filter (Hamp) - RM 20 (bought from outside dealer)
4.) Washer Drain - FOC

Total was RM212...The service advisor recommend to use the new SM 0W-20 full-sync oil for light-footed hybrid car drivers as it is meant to improve fuel economy but with lower performance. Since I have brought my own engine oil, so I did not opt for it

After switching to high performance full-sync engine oil, car feels less jerking, much more quiet and responsive on high rev rclxms.gif

See that the Carbon filter is about 90rm. Probably can get cheaper outside. Any one wanna to try the guide below to DIY?
Or can we actually opt not to replace, do the SC allow?

http://www.insightcentral.net/forums/honda...eplacement.html

*
wow..Honda standard is to replace the air filter @ every 20k km interval?
Toyota standard would only require to change it @ every 40k km interval ler

car in service center for 10k service now.

ask about the it is possible to bring own engine oil and the SA say ok but void the warranty on the engine part. then i ask them how about engine oil from honda and he say impossible u can buy it outside...meaning at melaka service center i also cant take my own engine oil except i want to risk on the engine warranty..haiz..

then i ask about the balance of the engine oil, how come no return to me. the SA say insight use 4liter >.< n no more left...maybe later after i get the car i should check the engine oil level n hope they dont overflow it...look like service the car at authorize service center also cant have piece of mind...
*
which conning SC you went?
I have checked with HM....you can bring your own engine oil for car servicing so long if your SC allows it and warranty still valid...same goes for the leftover engine oil should be returned to the customer..

believe it's the facelift version of insight coming in, so it's the good chance for them to increase price, means insight will be sold  over rm 100k ?
*
dun think the new HM will being in the new insight facelift to m'sia so soon gua....since they are launching the CRZ and probably the new Jazz hybrid next year, there will be strong competition against their own products... biggrin.gif

anyway, can't believe the cost of maintaining a 1.5l CRZ is even cheaper than a 1.3l insight blink.gif

Don't think it's the FL version, price probably will increase 1-2k just like previous increment after tsunami. This is wat SA told me.
*
Price already raised from 98k to 99.8k after the Tsunami
unless they plan to revise the price again next year for the same model

Just got a stand still race with a Altis 2.0 Dual VVTI CVT....

Insight can keep up with Altis up to 140km/h then small 1.3 engine start to get out of breath...

Conclusion... the torque is AWESOME!!!
*
with ECO mode turned off and gearbox switched to "S"?
I've noticed when i floor down the pedal, I don't feel the much difference in terms of acceleration besides the noisy engine sound
so, usually I will just step half on the pedal

Here is your answer...

1: a typical vios/city will get you 14km/l average fuel consumption an Insight will get you 19-25km/l (19 Econ off / 22-25km/l ECON on)

2. Battery do not cost RM7K it cost RM5K at the moment all Insight have 5 years Warranty on Battery but the replacement have only 6 months (consumer need to fight the replacement battery 6 month warranty lifespan) but google around and you will notice Insight battery is actually NIMH D-Cell type battery in serial layout. in US the previous generation of insight have their battery replace by 3rd party and it only cost RM1500 to RM2000 provided the 3 IMA circuit board is in good condition (so just replacement of wear/faulty batteries is RM1,500 t0 RM2,000) they even replace with a better stronger maH battery which provide longer distance per charge smile.gif

3. With insight you get 100% rebate on Import TAX and Duties and this is the actual cost what the manufacturer build that worth... with other car (non hybrid) you pay RM50K in TAX so what you get is RM50K cheaper car build value...

4. you pay 10K and you get Traction Control (a active safety that really really can save your life.... well if your life is worth extra 10K) and you also get Automatic headlight / automatic wipers, 2 tear dashboard meter that only found in civic, 3D display upper tiered panel display.....

for me the VSA/Traction control is worth extra 10K
Thx rclxms.gif Calvin_ng and this piece of info somehow give me more confident to go for hybrid car. but one more thing forte come along with quite good safety features too and cheap as compare to others C segmen car. Do you think Insight still more value to our pocket money as compare to forte? (FYI, before survey Insight, i do consider forte as its cheap with safety feature offered) pls advise notworthy.gif

Achieving above 20km/l is not easy on city driving unless you are driving with a constant decent speed on highway.
You should test drive both the cars rather than just viewing the paper facts..

QUOTE(cbinn @ Dec 21 2011, 01:51 PM)
Went to Kah Motor Puchong Service Center (the one near the Tesco Puchong U-Turn flyover) to do my 10k service. Mentioned to the service advisor that my car have a quite a loud and prominent whistling sound coming probably from somewhere behind the dashboard on passenger side when driving at around 100km/h. No sound before 100km/h and the sound also disappear after 110km/h. The sales advisor say will get technician to drive out and test, so service will take longer than usual (he mentioned 1 and a half hour).

Walking around, I noticed my car was actually parked in the parking lot most of the time (only went into the workshop for about 20 minutes). I waited close to 3 hours and still car not ready so I go ask whether it's ready. The service advisor told me technician did test drive but did not hear any whistling sound when driving at 100km/h so ask me to come back and check again if I still hear the sound. I was wondering how come the car could have been driven out of the service center for the test drive without me noticing it, maybe I actually overlooked.

Now come the disappointing part, when I get into my car and start the engine, I noticed the milage at the MID was exactly the same reading as when I send in the car! I was like, wow, they can bring the car to 100km/h in less than 1km mileage recorded in odometer?

I didn't know Kah Motor Puchong have a wind tunnel facility inside them to test wind noise at high speed without the need of actually driving the car into highway, or, they actually have the capability to reset my odometer back to original mileage after their test drive.

I supposed service engineers normally felt car owners are just fussy, wind noise during high speed is a normal thing and a lot of the complains are just psychological effect of the car owners always wanting their car to be in perfect condition, and since it is under warranty, car owners will complain on every small things they could find.

I was in hurry so I do not have much choice and I did not make a fuss out of it, since I had wasted 3 hours sitting down there assuming they actually took my car out for test drive.
*
that's why I have stopped sending my car to Kah Motor Puchong SC for servicing...
