It's been quite a long time I din post here and really glad to see a lot of new hedgie owner!

Just to share, about 2 months ago i adopted 2 female S&P (haven't name yet) from my fren. One of them refuse to eat for a week+ and seems very light when i hold her. I notice that coz her cage is very clean, not a single poop at all. I never change her diet coz my fren using the same IAMS Kitten as mine so i wonder if anything wrong with her. On the 8th day, I get her mealworm and gutload superworm with IAMS Kitten, eventually she's end her fast starting eating the worm and kibbles!

Hahah, thanks, That signature was taken when he's 2months. Bought him from nethelp  tongue.gif
haha! I spoiled him with mealies last September .  sweat.gif
but now I already cut his mealies supply and changed his kibbles to Go Natural. Couldn't find RC32 400gm. Only 2kg that available in petshop nearby doh.gif

How u find Go Natural? Is that good enuf compare to RC32? I'm still stick wif IAMS Kitten.

Share my new baby, snowflake snp

wahh congrats on your new batch...  rclxms.gif

Oh ya about Go Natural, I read in previous post (dunno in which version), Go Natural has the same nutrition with royal canin 32. (Crude Protein 32%) the most important thing is, it doesn't cointain any by-product & artificial flavour.

I found that the kibbles are tinier than royal canin 32, which make it easier to bite.I never said Go Natural is better than RC32, it just that I don't have choices since the petshop sells Royal Canin in 2kgs. Somemore my Papoy is a picky eater. Before, I forgot to buy RC32 due to busy working, so I just rushed into Giant & bought a small dog kibbles (which contain crude protein 23% & it's the only kibble in chicken flavour). At the 1st feeding, I saw him nibbled the kibble, so I thought that he's okay with that dog food. Suddenly, I heard him flipping his plate & ran into his dome  shakehead.gif . He 'declared' a hunger strike with me that day & the next morning I went to the petshop. After few comparisons with other catfood, I decided to buy Go Natural, since it has similar ingredient & nutritions with Royal Canin. Luckily he likes it & not a single kibble left on the plate. And he poop as usual (dark brown poop). (Note: I feed him once a day)

So for now I stick with Go Natural. In case the Royal Canin 32 is available in 400gm in the future, I might switch back to it. Having more than 1 type of kibble can give us the best options, in case one of the food has been discontinued, you have another food for back up.
*
Haha the dog kibble is too hard for hedgie to chew lah. If u squeeze the dog kibble u may found that it doesn't break into half even u squeeze till ur finger swollen biggrin.gif . Dun worry for the backup lah, they will take it as long as it's premium grade cat food. I did try the friskie kitten 15g for RM1.50, all my monster wouldn't take it blush.gif .

I have a huge problem with my boy here. He seems to be sleeping 24/7. I barely see him move and he don't eat much. Then he twitched even when a tissue touched him and he is not as active anymore. He looks so bad that I'm afraid he might die soon sad.gif

How old ur hedgie? Mind to share the picture here? Currently I having 4 adult female and 2 adult male, so far as I know they r very "durable". If u not so sure about it then better bring to the vet.

He looks fine from the photo. Constant noise can easily stress them out, even if he is a tame hedgie. Count the kibble and notice on the water consumption, anything can die of dehydration.

When u bring him home, just let he settle down for few hours, leave onli water then after that onli put back ur food for him. When I adopted the female S&P from my fren, she refuse to eat for one week! and she onli drink water. She's getting thin and thinner day by day so finally I try feed her mealworm and she begin to eat cat food after that. Two months ago she just give birth to two healthy hoglets.

Hye!

I own a female snowflake, she's almost 5months yet she's so 'kurus'! ohmy.gif  normally adult hedgehog weighed around 500g right? she's barely 300g+++. And normal hog will have this pear shape, mine is slim and sleek like panjang. I fed her mealworms and RC36, but she's fond to eat worms instead of RC. She's very active at night rclxms.gif im glad she's active but im worried about her health.

One more thing, my friend own a s&p male hog, he's almost 7months. I tried to pair them up together just for fun but she bit his neck and he was screaming like a baby!  shocking.gif yeah. he did sound like a baby+cat's-in-pain-meowing  doh.gif  sweat.gif whether they are not compatible or they're not ready, this im not sure. Help? icon_question.gif  unsure.gif  rclxub.gif

Thanks in advance!  nod.gif  thumbup.gif

ur female not yet mature lah! u will coz damage to her permanently if u breed her this age. 10-12 months is the recommended age for 1st breed.

Usually not recommended to breed for newbie, unless u hav experience on them.

I thought it's 6 months and above?
I've read that their pelvic bones fuse together after 1 year old, so it would be dangerous to breed them because the mother and babies could die during delivery.

How are your hedgies? biggrin.gif
*
I'm not sure about the pelvic bone, but I wait at least 10 months only to breed them.

All my hedgies are UP AND RUNNING, thank you for ur concern. In fact I've adopted an adult tortured female 3 months ago, her front head spike and both ears hav been trimmed to half, damn sick ppl. Will upload my hedgie family photo soon

ditto. while any life is equally precious (to an extent), simply giving or getting a hedgehog isn't exactly like getting for example; a goldfish for yourself or as a present to someone else.

be sure to do the research needed as a hog needs lots of care and has quirks specific to their kind that you should equip yourself or whoever you're giving it as a present with.

case in point - the past few pages of this thread clearly shows lack of research before bringing home a new hog v.v
addendum*

to answer your question, nethelp's from klang i believe and is a home breeder. prove yourself worthy and he might let you take care of one of his offsprings tongue.gif

Hi Olivur, thanks for your recommendation. Nowadays I really scared to letting go my baby hedgie, I received several call from non-lyn buyers who planned to adopt my baby hedgie as gift to their friend... Pet makes lousy gift!

Well recently I'm going to change my 1.3 megapixel handphone to a 5 megapixel handphone and hope after this I can take more beautiful picture of my adorable hedgie family to share here. tongue.gif

Poop smell depends on their diet and female poop will be more smelly during pregnancy

Oh like that. Guess im getting a hedgie soon instead of sg. Cost for starting also cheaper rite? No need to buy sangkar, just that toyogo box. But is it ok if i biar it at home for 5 days like that cause im just free at the weekend.  Left at home meaning let my brother or mom take care of it. Or is it will be hard to bond?
*
As long as ur brother or ur mom can handle it, play with it then ur hedgie will be tame and won't poke u when u place ur hand near him. Sometimes it's not about the bond but to tame as well
