Learnt that we shouldnt brush their belly with a toothbrush or scruff hold the hedgehog with the skin/quills on its back) because hedgehog's eyes are prone to proptosis (popping out).

Hi guys, I wanna ask, anyone here have any experience treating hedgies with fungal infection? How long does it take till he is cured? I'm taking over my cousin hedgie, which is super grumpy and defensive, afraid he's far too much for me to handle. If I don't take him, afraid the hedgie will die. I can't take care of 2 hedgies once my practical is over, but my main concern right now is to get him back to health, as he is in a bad condition right now. Anyone know any vet that treat hedgies in Kuantan? I have issues of going to the vet because of my working hour, but I'll find a way once I know where to go.. If not I can't do much other than buying antifungal shampoo and cream to tream him.. And pray he'll get better.

He seems to be nicer to me now, I can touch his nose without him huffing at me.

No pictures la, he's not with me yet, and hard oso to post since now using phone for internet. I'm going to get him in a little while today. Thought mites/lices and bought frontline, but no effect. When I 1st look at him, there were scabs on his face and ears, removed using baby oil and seems ok, but he oso suffering from quill and fur loss. Now he's having diarrhea as well. He spike up at the weakest sound. LOTS of dry skin, and few quills got red dry skin surrounding him.. Like luka but only on a quill, then at another spot, another 1. Since I dunno his age, can't say quilling or what-not.

Really aa? Then lega la. But my cousin's grumpy since he 1st got him. Mine, which I think in the same batch is having similar problem, but not as bad. Until recently. Suddenly got grumpy and 2 dozen quills dropping a day. Had him anti fungal shampoo, but quills still dropping a lot. Noticed the dropped ones are pretty small. What about the fur loss? Is it normal? Does hedgehog lose its fur? What did you do about leo's dry skin?

Hello all, just like to update on my hedgies. I took in my cousin's hedgie, and though I face few problems to keep him, I managed to get hold on him

Roll is doing fine. He's really outgoing, won't sit still, and explore places and play like crazy. Play really loud with his hidebox during the night that I have trouble sleeping. He loves to sondol and pusing2 that thing from inside. Keep begging to be let out, and in the morning everything is a MESS! Give me headache. Even poo in his sleeping area. Probably because his cage is too small (inserting wheel leave no space for him to play). He's really tame, and since he's an explorer nothing seems to scare him. Pretty smart, too. He seems to respond to my voice when I give small warning so he'll not to venture to places he shouldn't, though he'll ignore it when he gets too excited. Seems to enjoy bath now for mealworms that come after. Looks like litter-train won't be easy for him. Messy eater, leave crumbs. Won't groom if he's already dirty. Treat me like his slave >.>''

Fossil (my cousin's) is more open up to me now. He's a cuddler, and have potential to be potty-train. When I put him outside, he goes to a corner with newspaper and pee poo there, and move slightly to drier place to do business again. His bite turns to nip now, doesn't hurt much. He's such a cutie, when I put him down with feed bowl between him and me, he cross the feed bowl so fast to get to me, wetting his feet in the water. And when he sleeps under my blanket, he'll slowly crawl up from my knee to my chest, with his face turns to me <3 he even willing to sleep on my palm, unlike Roll who just can't sit still >.<" and Roll would turn his head away when he notice he would see me. Nowadays Fossil turn up his spines for show only, do it also half-heartedly. Rarely hiss now, would stop once he notice it's me. He's also a neat eater, won't leave crumbs unless he didn't notice it.

One thing I notice is that they don't seem to mind each other's presence. They would pick lepak spot near/next to each other under my blanket, I test this many times. If not Fossil, Roll will go to the other. So cute <3 Probably because they were together in the petshop and face hardship together TT.TT I put Roll in Fossil's cage once, and since they have the same kind of hidebox, he go sniffing at the entrance, but doesn't enter because Fossil's inside. Before you got mad it's just for few minutes while I wipe his cage dry, and I put his hidebox and food bowl in as well in Fossil's cage that time.

but anyway, I'm having similar problem. Like my gal is interested always giving hints to ahem ahem, walking around him to check him out, but my boy prefers to be alone and spikes up when she sniffs him.

i think better to separate them for a weeks then reintroduce them back.. hahaha maybe too long sleep together the chemistry are not strong enough..

ddr3, how do you handle such adventurous hedgie? ^^'' I let him out for a day once, but he got SO dirty, with poop on his face and dirt all over his body Dx. That's when my nightmare starts. He keep asking to be let out. He start quilling shortly after, and that doesn't help the situation. Became grumpy so I bribe him mealies so he behave for A DAY. Now not grumpy anymore but turns crazy Dx

did your boy got find her?? making sound like qui... qui?? it might is your boy dont like her gua.. hahahah

She's 5 months now... still consider baby? Is it normal if the hedgehog don't exercise at all and sleep all the time (except its feeding time)? She can even easily fall asleep while I have her in my arm.
Sorry for dumb question, this is my first time having hedgehog as pet.

Icic... relief a bit, atleast I know there's nothing wrong with my hedgie but still have to make her exercise. She eats a lot!

anyone here take their hedgehogs out for a walk? you know, like walking a dog. i let mine out of the cage and walk around the house but he always run to those hard-to-reach areas like under the tables, shelves n stuff and poop and piss everywhere. i wanna take him out to a park nearby for a walk so he can poop n piss everywhere he wants.
