no stain, VERY white and clean looking, and fatter, thats why i took back today i was very angry, i clean and clean cannot remove, used vinegar no use, and now its so dirty looking, and now thinner to me, it weighs 260grams, is it too light? and she's very small size.
*
There are no specific weights for hedgehogs because certain hedgehogs can weigh in at 400g while another could weigh in at 250g at the same age.

If her tummy & sides are sunken in, that means that she's not been getting enough nutrients.
Just give her a little more kibble than usual & see if she fattens up after a while.

Do not let that friend of yours take care of your pets anymore in the future.

If that stain doesn't seem to be bothering the hedgie, leave it alone.
You might be doing more harm trying to remove the stain if you keep bathing her since this will cause really dry skin.

I'm sure the stain will fade with time. smile.gif

thanks for replying, I appreciate it!
yes, it's sunken in, she's feeding on IAMS cat food, purple pack, but she doesnt wants to eat it, only if I feed her worms, she wants it. and yes, its sunken in, yeah, lesson learnt, never trust anyone with your lovely pet  cry.gif she close the lid halfway and went she came back, there's stain already, but it's BLACK, like so ugly =/
*
As long as the skin looks fine with no scabs or bleeding, leave the stain alone. smile.gif
Change to Royal Canin 36 if possible because IAMS is of mediocre quality only.
Do not give her more than 8 worms a day because she's actually learning that if she doesn't eat kibble, you'll give her worms.

There might be fallen quills instead of fur.
I've stabbed myself in the foot and thumb once so far.

If you let the hedgie crawl on your tummy, you will find a bit of their fur will stick to you. Not as much as dog fur, I guess.

They have a tendency to poo & pee when they run around so get those toilet rolls and wet wipes ready.

@ ddr3: Huffy is his size as well. I do think both are smaller than usual if I compare his size to Chubster (who is nearly 1 year) now.

can you comment on the fur on the neck area? is it lesser or all the hedgie are the same? and his eye in the 1st picture? Thanks a lot
*
Sorry, I didn't know so I didn't reply to those questions. However, I was handling Huffster yesterday & it did look like the fur behind the 'neck' area is less so it should be normal.
No worries about the eyes. Huffy has a 'blue ring' around his eyes as well.

This is the only clear picture that I have of him. No, haven't named him yet.

telileti, i see that dib's not for sale. came to our senses have we tongue.gif
*
LOL, yes. He is not for sale anymore. smile.gif
I haven't named him Dibs though. He doesn't look like 'Dibs' to me. My sister suggested that I name him 'Doro' after 'Dora the Explorer' because he's already running around, exploring things.

deh guys, now my parents are talking bout feng shui. they say having hedgehogs in the house is bad for feng shui. yea meh? i'm  vmad.gif  trying to convince them to let me keep 1 liao.  icon_question.gif
*
Like everyone else has said, your parents just don't want you to have a pet hedgehog.

(I knew my mum would not let me get a hedgehog as well so I bought one & didn't tell her till the day I brought Huffy home rclxms.gif )

My parents believe in this whole feng shui thing but they never mentioned hedgehogs having any influence on feng shui.

Looks like a cinnamon pinto to me.

If you see a concentrated patch of solid white quills (with NO banding), then it should be a pinto. smile.gif

TeliLeti- mind if i ask a ques, what color is ur pinto boy's skin color, i mean the pinto spot there? iz it pink or black?
*
It was pink when he was a baby.
Now his quills are long (and mucho sharp) so it makes it difficult for me to check unless he curls into a ball.

He never curls up (nor do I like to make him ball up).

lil CLICKED at me and  curled up for the first time ever when i tried to carry her just now.
codicil*

prolly cause i smelled different since i used super glue on a cut i had on my palm :s
*
Chubster clicks at me once in a while as well. And yes, it's probably because you smelled different. smile.gif
Huffster no longer clicks at me. He just huffs a lot & lunges at my hands with his visor down.

Sabz711. He's a hedgehog breeder, sounds like an ethical one to me so I don't have a problem with leaving the hedgehog with him. smile.gif

I want to try and spend 30 minutes of bonding time with my hedgie.

But when reach 15 minutes , she sure will pee and poo on the floor. Then i put her back in her cage , clean it then no mood bond with her d. sad.gif.

How do u bond with ur hedgies?
*
I wipe up the pee and at the same time, ask Huffy why he can't control his bladder. laugh.gif

My bonding time with Huffy consists of him sitting in my lap while I watch TV. He knows not to pee on me so he'll squirm & wiggle his way out of my hands when he needs to 'go'. biggrin.gif

What you need to know is that after you wipe the pee & poo, you don't have to do it again since she just emptied her tank. Lol.
You can resume playing with her.

Be cautious during this stage.
She might change the colour of her quills next.
I know I changed my hair colour in my rebellious stage. xD

I don't see why everyone wants to do A-Levels at Taylor.
It's a pre-u programme. You can do a pre-u programme anywhere because it's all the same.
A-Levels at Taylors costs a bomb. Why no do pre-u at a less costly institution before going to Taylors for a degree programme or something. Just my two cents.

If you're giving away your hamsters, let me know. My little cousin's looking for a female roborovski/winter white. smile.gif

Hello there fellow Hedgie lovers, I'm a new hedgie mum who just got my girl a week ago from gfan50.

She's around 1 month and 2 weeks old and she is named Nephthys, in short, Neftie.

Nice to meet you guys =D and hope you don't mind me asking lots of questions once a while X_x
user posted image
Just had her first bath today =D Used a big cat litter box as her portable home (when i go to my bf's place) and also her swimming pool/bath tub.

user posted image
First day at my house, she lives in a cat cage, and don't worry the whole floor is covered up with fleece so her foot won't fall through

user posted image
she looks like she's laughing, but she's actually just eating while being all defensive XD

user posted image
she loves to pee and poo while running around my bed =3=
I heard they will pee and poo when they run around, so i brought her to the park yesterday, but she didn't run at all, just stayed close to my feet and turn into a ball everytime someone walk pass... the only place she will freely (and happily) run around (and pee and poo) is on my bed....

my bed become her litter box
*
D'awww, Neftie's a little cutie. biggrin.gif

She stayed close to your feet at the park because she trusts you more than she trusts her surrounding. wink.gif

Guys - question.

1. Is it dangerous to keep a hedgehog?
2. price?
*
1. Illegal, no. Dangerous, not really. Their spines can draw blood if you're not careful when handling a balled-up/temperamental hedgehog. Otherwise, no health threats.
2. RM100 (plus minus ten bucks if you buy on LYN)

QUOTE(sowhon @ Sep 23 2011, 12:21 PM)
Woke up this morning and saw Rosie running on the wheel...first time in my life i saw a real life hedgie running on the wheel...never seen Rocky running the wheel before....but poo will be all over the wheel overnite....haha

was so amazed that i call up my wife to have alook at it together...lol
*
It's a really amazing sight, isn't it?
I was amazed as well the first time I saw Chubster walk on the wheel. She doesn't run much. She's slow & steady.
I never see Huffy run in the day.

QUOTE(Devilene @ Sep 23 2011, 02:31 PM)
Wheels *_* any idea where to get a big wheel? I'm worried Neftie isn't getting enough exercise coz she sleeps and sleeps and sleeps

and how much mealworms to feed a 1 month + hedgie? and what other cat food is recommended for hedgies other thn royal canin?
*

Pet Lovers Center. The 11" one costs RM80-ish.

I feed my hedgies 5-10 mealworms.
5 or so for the small ones (1.5 months now) and 10 for the older ones (6.5 & 11.5 months). biggrin.gif
I don't feed them treats everyday though.

I only feed my hedgies RC36 & RC32 because others such as IAMS are of mediocre quality.
You can try buying Natural Balance though. It's cheaper than RC, if I'm not mistaken.
