Guys, help me decide. I got an offer as a post of Assistant Manager in a well established insurance firm in Sg. I'm currently working at a major financial institution in KL. SG is offering me SGD5000. My fixed expenses in KL is around RM6000. I already have a family (house, wife, two kids and my parents) in KL. So the question now is, does it make sense to accept the offer in SG? Here's the extra cost in SGD if I go to SG:

Rent a room : 500
Communication (since i am so far from family) : 300 (??)
Food : 300
Travelling (I still need to go back to KL at least once a month) : 300 to 500 (??)

By this calculation, it does not really make sense to go there anymore. But in the long term, if I bring my family over to SG (and if my wife also finds a job in SG), perhaps it will be better?

What do you guys think?

Hmmmm interesting ...... I never realize there could be so many complications.

I don't think I can totally separate everything in KL, e.g. I can't sell my house in KL even if I were to move my wife and kids to SG. My parents wants to stay there. And what if I want to go back to KL once in a while, I can't sell my car, and I can't terminate my KL phone line. So a lot of these expenses are still not reduced, I'm afraid.

If my wife comes to SG with me, for sure she must work too. But in the interim period before she comes, I will have to decide whether I personally want to expand my career to SG, or here in Msia .....
