blu3hamm3r: Since you mentioned camera lens, do you use any macro lens for taking close up of the diecast? I noticed your shots are pretty sharp.

QUOTE(blu3hamm3r @ Nov 25 2011, 03:11 PM) aquilaTE: I used to have Tamron SP90, Nikon 105F2.8 but i sell it off long time ago. I just use 17-55 f2.8 to shoot all my diecast photo. Few photo also shoot with 50f1.4 with attached macro filter. The picture look sharp is bcos i use F18 15"second ISO100 with tripod. U might try it. ^^ Yeah... the 17-55 f2.8 is a good lens. I have a kit lens at 18-105 and my recent discast diorama shots I shot at F32 4secs 70mm ISO400 and a tripod too. I still find it not sharp enuff.Btw, just saw AA website upcoming model MERCEDES-BENZ 190 SL - WHITE. Goddam nice! Who is going to grab this?? http://www.autoartmodels.com/web/product/e...09139160ED81A0C |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Nov 25 2011, 03:27 PM) Wow, you room looks way better than my college/uni days. Try it, I am sure u will get sharper picture. Okies. Will give it a try. I always thought the higher the F numbers, the sharper the image will get. QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Nov 25 2011, 04:13 PM) Added on November 25, 2011, 4:16 pm what blu3hamm3r said, and you dont even need DSLR, even PNS camera. use tripod will do, ISO 100-200 (depend on your psn/dslr, try not to go above 400 since you are in a controlled environment) it, make sure you got adequate lighting, and keep your fsop and shutter to what you need, not overboard it by f32 and 4 sec shutter I always tot the rule of thumb was the opposite extreme will yield the best results. Anyway, I dun have proper lighting since I dun use a light box and I take straight out of the display cabinet. Anyway, will test later when got time again. Added on November 25, 2011, 4:32 pm QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Nov 25 2011, 04:13 PM) thanks. i kinda rather keep everything in my room, easier to manage/safeguard etc. and my collections consist of really f***ing fragile and limited (usually sold out on pre-orders itself, and never restock, only 1 time running/release)items, so definitely not something i wanna keep out of sight for prolonged periods lol True... that's why I have a room dedicated for such things and not in the living room. My wifey dun approve to those things in the masterbedroom eventhough that is the safest place also, i believe the temp blu3hamm3r mentioned was the color temp, please dont heat up your sensor, you dont want a ruined dslr/pns lol The DSLR sensor has a failsafe at 5mins shutdown on the D90 since that function is made for video mode so I doubt it gets damage easily. I dont think colour temp is something to do with the temperature of the sensor. It's the colour ranges is what you called colour temp. But I'm not sure whether if different heat ranges on the sensor gives a different result to the sharpness of the photo. This post has been edited by aquilaTE: Nov 25 2011, 04:32 PM |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Nov 25 2011, 04:44 PM) in comparison of a pns (again, controlled environment and/or lightboxes) and a dslr, dslr is MUCH EASIER than psn Yeah, the one thing that ticks me off about pns is the noise control. I went thru two pns. They served me well till my demand got bigger... muahahaha...why? much bigger sensor body is easier to take in light/image details in laymen terms, for a pns, you're almost 100% needing tripod + long exposure periods, while dslr you just point and shoot (irony huh? lol) with standard 1/60 or even as low as 1/30 (IS tech these days I still needed the tripod to shoot even with dslr because of hand shake. Anyway, bridge cameras and pns have came a far way. Those two pns were like 4yrs and 6 yrs ago |

Well, I dun have to worry much with color temps since I shoot mainly in RAW. I'm just not there yet with photo sharpness... I want to trick people especially friends that they cannot tell the different between a real car and a diecast... so far, tricked only once with a crop shots |

QUOTE(blu3hamm3r @ Nov 25 2011, 04:50 PM) Quazacolt: The temp tat i mean is sensor temperature. Long explosure will heat up ur sensor and of cos it will effected ur image. U might try to take few shoot with 5 minute explosure and see. I bet the image come out will have redish or bluelish at the corner. Ok. Noted on that. Cheers. aquilaTE: Long explosure will heat up our sensor and heat can create havoc with photons and the sensor’s photosites. As the sensor works longer, such as with long exposures, constantly using live view, or during burst mode, it heats up and your shots will most likely include those tiny speckles you so want to avoid. Btw, tiny speckles not those from noise? |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Nov 25 2011, 04:55 PM) haha getting old lo, ady lotsa people call me uncle (mainly due to my appearance, as i look old Yeah... been there, done that... all the best and atm not looking forward to a new place, planning for a car well, you could try out those new tricks, hell, try some simple lowest fstop + 1/60 (just light up your shooting area well) and you'll be amaze at how far you can go. additionally, getting good flash (again, controlled environment means you can adjust flash bounce/diffusing well) is also a good investment in good photos. Used to have a decent flash till it got fried. Anyway, I'm planning to build a diorama that comes with lights as well so I can be like this dude here... http://nicadraus-lambo.blogspot.com/2009/0...-118-scale.html Of course, mine wouldn't be so bright like his since he's a commercial workshop and mine will be a private garage which will be so-so lit-ed. |
