From now till 29 Fen 2012, HSBC client can use VS or premier card to buy 1 free 1 at GSC (premier and gold class).
So, is it just premier and gold class or in all classes ?

I can't seems to find any reason why they reject me. Had applied for MBB, AMB and UOB all got rejected. Given them printed online account statement where my salary accredited, 3 mths payslip, epf statement and offer letter from company.

It could be that your record is too clean or you've been a guarantor to someone else that someone else has defaulted on his bills before, thus affecting you.

Anyway, you can try some other more lenient banks such as CIMB Bank, Citibank or Standard Chartered Bank.

Too clean. That's probably the problem. Do as i suggested. Try at other banks.

Hi sifus, I've read the first post but I'm curious to know more:

I'm 23, earning 55k/annum and want to get my first CC. Currently i'm using a supplementary CC.

Thought of getting one for myself permanently as more and more bills are coming in.

I'm looking at Citibank Gold..or something else if you could suggest to me.

I'm a light shopper wont go past 1K/month but occasionally i do past the 5K mark.

Can i have recommendation + reasons? smile.gif

5% rebate on certain merchant, and a very simple card design

Very simple indeed! Too simple if you ask me. Doesn't reflect its status as a high-end credit card sweat.gif

Hi guys, i have a problem to ask,is TAC is replace with MSOS?I couldn't find a link to register MSOS,last time i heard they put a link below Utilities at maybank2u but now its gone.I just register TAC yesterday at ATM but still i couldn't shop as they said my credit card didn't register 'Verified by Visa'

I hope someone can explain this in detail/help me sweat.gif
*
You need to register your cellphone number inside the branch in order to receive TAC as well as to get the 6-digit code for online transactions in all website that support Verified by VISA or MasterCard SecureCode.

To change H/P number for TAC, you can do in ATM.

- Slot in ATM card, enter PIN
- Click Other Transactions, inside one sub-menu
- Select change mobile number
- Enter PIN again
- Done
*
Didn't Maybank disable this a while ago ? Some of their ATM still have this menu but no update will be done.

OT, still can. My friend just change the H/P 2-3 weeks ago at MBB ATM (mid-bridge at The Gardens 2nd? Level, same level with TGIF/Starbucks/Baskin Robbin or somewhere that level. Got RHB and HSBC ATM next to each another). No error/info to ask goto counter. It says successful/done.

I'll ask to double confirm if TAC send to the old/new H/P number later.
*
If the number change really was successful, then it means someone at Maybank is not doing his/her job. There was a statement from Maybank that all registration of cellphone number for the purpose of receiving TAC must be done inside the branch a while ago.

guys, wanna ask. is our card number is really confidential (to others)?
usually in receipt, they (merchants)  sensored (put like XXX-XX) it,
but there is a few who just display all the full numbers...
how about the security then..
*
The copy they give us usually will state something like xxxxxxxxxxxx0000 but the one they keep have our complete credit card number printed on it.

UOB has stopped issuing invitations for Midas for a few years I was told. CL ranges from RM 50k - RM 300k.

UOB is planning to introduce Visa Infinite in 1Q2012. Hope it will look as nice as UOB Singapore's Visa Infinite with the big visa bird hologram.
*
I understand UOB Singapore only issues VISA Infinite to their Privilege Banking and Privilege Reserve clients. So i guess it will be the same when they introduce VISA Infinite here in Malaysia ?

I started 2011 with just a single CC and ended with seven. My wishlist for 2012 is for CIMB to come out with a new product that is able to match MBB2  rclxms.gif Got a soft spot for 'em CIMB.

Perhaps CIMB Bank should start expanding their partnership with JCB aggressively and promote it more heavily biggrin.gif

Yeah, always on the first day of the year. Not this time though. Must be the BNM requirements telling the bank not to unless with our agreement. I wonder if anyone have their CL increase since the announcement.
*
I did not get any sms regarding credit limit increase from Citibank. Most likely because i rarely use my Citibank credit cards ever since i got my MBB2 cards and OCBC Titanium MasterCard last year biggrin.gif

QUOTE(charymsylyn @ Jan 5 2012, 10:20 PM)
Err, what exactly is wrong with this scenario? You buy an item for say RM1000 but you are entitled to RM100 tax refund. You opted to refund to the same card, thus your purchase was in reality only for RM900. Nothing wrong for you to only get points for RM900 purchase.

Or you were expecting a RM100 credit to your account? This was probably not done due to the fees involved.

Paris is most likely because the tax refund company is based there.
*
To be honest, i would expect a full refund to my nominated credit card account without my rewards points being deducted too! Besides, he did not use this card to pay for the purchases. He either paid in cash or used another credit card to pay for his purchases. Anyway, whether he used cash or credit card is irrelevant.

QUOTE(niel @ Jan 5 2012, 08:40 PM)
MBB mentioned the transactions have a code of "goods refund", I explained this is not a full refund of products purchased, but tax refund. MBB will file an appeal to management, but no promise at all. I was even advised not to do this again because my treatspoint will be deducted again and I could be suspected of money laundering!
Money laundering ? OMG! Don't our tax department offers the same tax refund method to all the eligible foreigners ? DUH rclxub.gif doh.gif

QUOTE(niel @ Jan 5 2012, 08:40 PM)
Another funny thing is, I have never used this card at all for any purchase in Paris! It is so unfair to have the points deducted this way.

Anyone else?
I totally agree with you. I suggest you to write-in to their customer service recovery department to voice your dissatisfaction over this matter.

Any credit card is accepted for ERL KLIA Express. The ticket/entrance gate is near the MAS office.
The KLIA transit ticket/entrance is nearby the exit to the AirAsia/LCCT Express Buses. They are not located in the same place.

BTW ... if you are going to KLIA both KLIA Express and Transit ticket charges are the same - RM35 but you arrive 7 minutes later with transit. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
*
I wasn't aware there's a KLIA Transit service to KLIA. I only know KLIA Express is the only option and it stops right in the basement of KLIA.

Nice!!! The Coach Ang Pow is for collection, not to give other people biggrin.gif I wondered if HSBC has HSBC Premier Ang Pow this year. There didn't have it last year... Guess i'll find out tomorrow biggrin.gif Again, thanks for sharing all the Ang Pow you've got this year thumbup.gif

By the way guys, inflight duty free purchases paid by credit card/charge card/debit card are processed offline and the transaction date recorded could be a few days later than the actual transaction date. So if you think that you should use your MBB2 AMEX to pay for the duty free items you bought on a weekend flight, think again as you may not be able to get the weekend 5% rebate.

Make people scared. Plus, middle of the night 4am they send such SMS notify me >.< Really freak me out  rclxub.gif

This sms thingy is a newly implemented stuff as required by Bank Negara to minimize on fraud. All banks have started to role out such sms service since 1st Jan 2012.

The SMS did not mention the transaction with whom or where?
I think they do. I received two sms from HSBC last week and if i'm not mistaken, they did sms the merchant in the sms. Can't check now as i've deleted the sms.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 15 2012, 03:43 PM)
So for I have received SMS from:

Alliance stating last four digits, amount and for Prudential
MBB VI stating last four digits, the name of the clinic in SG and amount in SGD.
UOB stating last four digit, at Coach and amount.

So from above, the banks above do state the merchant details.
*
Same goes to Maybank and Citibank. Below is the format for their respective sms.

Maybank >
- last 4-digit of your credit card
- TQ FOR YOUR USAGE AT (merchant's name)
- date
- time
- amount

Citibank >
- last 4-digit of your credit card
- date
- amount
- merchant's name

By the way, i bought some cakes with my MBB2 AMEX just now but i did not receive any sms from them. It was only for RM24+. The amount probably isn't big enough biggrin.gif However, when i bought my plane tickets on Dragonair website yesterday, i received the sms from Maybank even before Dragonair completed the payment process thumbup.gif
