People that exclude meat in their meal but include egg and milk are called vegetarian
People that exclude meat, egg and milk in their meal are called vegan. Vegan also exclude product that made from animal part. example leather shoe/hand bag are made from animal skin.
Honey is also excluded in Vegan's meal
Some white sugar are filtered with Bone char (cow's bone) so Vegan also exclude white sugar.

For the apple pie, some information here:
http://www.vrg.org/fastfoodinfo.htm#2009_m...alds_l-cysteine

look like only the 'roti' bun and coleslaw and Marrybrow's salad are vegetarian.
'Vegelover' pizza and salad in Pizza Hut are also vegetarian.

What do you call vegetarians who do not eat rice ? I do not eat rice because most of the rice I know of are of high Glycemic Index and that effects my running performance.

Am vegetarian, just wanted to ask:
If I go to Chinese's sea foods restaurant and order fried vegetable (example fried kangkong).
Do they use pig oil to fry vegetable?

I some time go to Chinese's sea foods restaurant, but of course I order vegetable only.
And I ask them not to use pig oil when fry the vegetable.
Some time I worry, the waiter who take my order does not communicate effectively with the person who cook/fry the vegetable, and they use pig oil to fry my vegetable ! sweat.gif

Am lacto-ovo (used to be lacto but has since adopted ovo to make life easier) and I usually prefer Indian veg over Chinese veg. Any decent Indian restaurants (not the Mamaks, but usually they have some veg options) serving banana leave rice is my fave! Penang has some fine Indian veg restaurants, as well as Chinese ones too. Singapore has 24-hour Indian veg outlets, esp in and around Little India. Wish we could have the same here! smile.gif

When in doubt, always ask. Not many restaurants use lard to fry vegetables anyway - what you should concern about is the use of belacan in fried kangkung. You should inquire about it before ordering. smile.gif
