hey guys recently i've been going on hikes every weekend and my running shoes are starting to wear out and think its time for me to get proper shoes/boots. my trails are usually rocky and uphill. My budget is like RM200 and below if possible just as an entry-level.

Yes you can. If you camp at proper commercialized campsite. Most of the campsites provide fresh water for shower and toilet. There are actually plenty of them.

1. Proper attire (thermal jacket; you will climb at 2 am from laban rata) If you tahan sejuk normal jacket also can.
2. headlamp is a must
3. simple snack, mixed nuts needed during journey from timpuhan>laban rata
4. Hiking shoe with a very good grip
5. Gloves (If musim hujan, you need waterproof gloves)
6. Waterproof bag (small one-you can use it from laban rata to the peak)
7. ....

1. Jacket got...not sure if it waterproof or not...quite warm when wear it...my in law wear it while he go Korean.
2. Headlamp bought from Mr DIY oledi.
3. Checked
4. Hiking shoe bought power from BATA. Back up with 5 fingers saddle something like vibram five fingers...now wonder wanna buy that Adidas Kampung or not...after research that adidas kampung not very suitable for beginner
5. Gloves also bought from Mr DIY...dun think it waterproof...
6. Got but not waterproof...plan to use rain cover...and inside all things put inside plastic bags.

After checking:
There are two monsoons that bring rainy seasons to Sabah:
South West Monsoon stretches from May to July.

However, it is North East Monsoon covering October to January that brought heavy and frequent rain. This is the worst time to climb Mount Kinabalu due to the heavy rain brought by North East Monsoon.

shocking.gif Hope all well

Generally, other than late October, November and December, other months are acceptable choice.
