oh http://phototrek.wordpress.com/ - Rosmal Sharrif? i think i met him once in kem Lolo last month. He joined my site for an overnight camping. He brought his family along, 7 people, and masak masak ayam and nasi there. damn nice. hahahaha. friendly people also.
wah i need to get good boots la. my current one sucks when wet. kampung adidas nice but no ankle support. where u buy your jungle boots?

Hiking at night is damn syok la. hahahhaa cool air, pitch black, play with api and light.
Out door dude. Cant take things for granted. Respect nature, and it will respect you. Anything can happen. Dont play play

Thats why when go jungle hiking, even for a day, need to bring emergency gears there.

Trips like Tahan, what do you normally bring for food? Also when water is scarce, maggiemee is useless.

eh 100Yen has very good air tight plastic bags. RM4.50. I use them to pack my cloths. It has 2 corners to let air out but air cannot go in. So pack, seal, roll, and the air all goes out!

we eat nasi lor, bihun, mee during breakfast
that's y we go in a group scale of 10-20 ppl to bring company food uphill & cook

as for water, most camp site are built near waterpoint liao, but if you have to hike 2-3hrs or more with no waterpoint, abang guide will tell you upfront so you can bring 2x1.5l bottle of water during the trekking

then got preparation for emergency food like you pack 1 pot of rice, ikan masin and etc that you cannot touch unless it is emergency

i think dis if you read GO u can get lotso info as it relates to our Malaysian mountaineering scene

just my 2cents

haha i prefer smaller groups, coz nice camping ground not easy to find. most are rocky and can store pools of water.
then each of us bring our own food sufficient for ourselves, then we share when eating. I find canned beans, curry chicken and beef rendang the best for me. Banana would be nice, but sure make me wanna berak in the woods...which i dont quite like...takut ppl come and see my nice white smooth buntut... brows.gif

descending down is more risky to your footy as you carry weight, and pressure
(you want to use your footie in long term, and in hiking it's the most important part liao)..

so ensure shoes selection is gooding, and if you stick with adidas kampung, wear lots of socks

ya...the bottom of foot can feel like walking on pebbled foot reflexogy stones.. hahaha can be abit painful if land too hard.

Selayang got one mall, inside the DIY shop (like ace hardware) sells the kampung adidas with pointed soles for RM6.80. mine i bought was flat soled at RM8 from pasar malam! dang.

Going to 1U outdoor uniform to try on their jungle boots. RM68 i think.
