I hated extra weight. I would opt for something like this instead:

QUOTE(AlOnE89 @ Sep 19 2011, 05:55 PM) Wondering would N8 retail price drop or not after N9 launched =.= Can buy now lah. I think it's initial launch price was about RM1600 thereabout. Maxis offering RM950 for 12 months contract with minimum 250MB data plan for RM38. I reckon wait for another 12 months and the price at most drop down by another 100 ringgit which is not much.I want a great camera-phone so badly! =.= |

QUOTE(stimix @ Sep 20 2011, 04:53 PM) Yeah if not of the camera & ovimaps + Garmin, long-long ago already jump ship liao.. Is there a way to set phone language as English but the OVI Beijing map's road name in Mandarin?BTW, just downloaded Beijing & Tianjin maps for my Nov trip to Beijing...the POIs & map details on both city damn superb..even the budget hotels that I booked days ago also in there.. Or....one more reason to stay with N8, price! What other phone can you get for RM1000 having similar capability? With Belle around the corner, it's a steal IMO. QUOTE(yessir89 @ Sep 20 2011, 05:39 PM) Sure got. The unique thing about Nokia is, they will give you any country's map to you for free together with voice navigation. Everything free for life (assuming Nokia didn't go bankrupt, that is). AFAIK, No other phone or even stand alone GPS system does that and reason why some of us is still staying with Nokia. What phone are you using and which version OVI Maps you have? The newer OVI Maps 3.06 download procedure is different from the others and is the easiest. |

Just found something interesting. Did you know that N8's battery warranty is for 12 months? It's 12 months because it's integrated into the phone and the phone has 12 months warranty. Super.

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 21 2011, 08:03 AM) That is the official Recommended Retail Price but nobody pay that price. I am 200% certain street price is lower and I guess it would be around RM1100 to RM1200 thereabout for an Original set. Maxis was offering it at RM949 with 12 months contract with a 250MB data plan. |

Unfortunately I can't find any legal Garmin software and I dare not try the 'ahem' version because I once detected Malware in those 'ahem' version before. QUOTE(eugene88 @ Sep 22 2011, 02:02 PM) If you did a scan of the installation software, yes, those 2 files can be flagged as virus. But AFAIK, after installation, there shouldn't be warning of Malware any more, assuming the installation software aren't in phone itself. What I did was, I connect the phone to PC and using the PC'a antivirus to do the scanning. I am no expert so I now like to play it safe because smartphone are being used to make online purchases. |

Wanting to ask how your N8's battery life like.
No gaming, minimal or no surfing, no 3G, may be 20 mins calls and some SMS, remove vibration, black background, no online widget, 5 minutes GPS. But Bluetooth on all time. Mine drop 1 bar after 10 hours. In theory, there are 7 bars with each bar representing 14.3% power but I felt the 1st bar represents about 25% in real life. QUOTE(xaiemanx @ Sep 27 2011, 04:19 PM) Those from Maxis sometime are still old stock. Very old stock. But since there are from Maxis with warranty, go into any Nokia Care Center and they will do a clean format installation of Anna for you for free but you better bring your receipt. QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Sep 28 2011, 10:55 AM) easy. Just switch wlan auto scan to off. Then go to connectivity then setting. For data use in home country, just go for wlan only. But in the process of checking whether you got the required WLAN or not, it will do scanning and wasting battery. That's why I uninstalled Whatsapp. That way whatsapp application will only connect if you got connection to any wifi. Hope that helps. |

That means there are other apps that need to access Internet. Those I could think of are:1. news widget 2. weather widget 3. Email set to retrival "soonest" 4. If your GPS is set to "online" etc and you open any program that requires GPS like photo (with geo-tag) etc. |
