If not because of the camera and GPS, I might have gotten an Android instead.

Is there a way to set phone language as English but the OVI Beijing map's road name in Mandarin?

Or....one more reason to stay with N8, price! What other phone can you get for RM1000 having similar capability? With Belle around the corner, it's a steal IMO.

Sure got. The unique thing about Nokia is, they will give you any country's map to you for free together with voice navigation. Everything free for life (assuming Nokia didn't go bankrupt, that is). AFAIK, No other phone or even stand alone GPS system does that and reason why some of us is still staying with Nokia.

What phone are you using and which version OVI Maps you have? The newer OVI Maps 3.06 download procedure is different from the others and is the easiest.

Just found something interesting. Did you know that N8's battery warranty is for 12 months? It's 12 months because it's integrated into the phone and the phone has 12 months warranty. Super.

The ovimaps Beijing & Tianjin version are in English rclxms.gif All road names & POIs also in English- Hanyin pinyin good for semi-banana like me rclxms.gif

Phillipines maps also there but I don't think it will be really great bcos very small file - 55mb for entire Phillipine nia compare wth only the city of Beijing already 104mb & Tianjin already 65mb

Also depends on your destination lor. While its not bad, not detail enough for certain country. Bali is not good enough and South Korean map dont even exist when I went there 3 years ago. Taiwan is not bad, but even Google Maps beat that.

Bali for sure bad-lah bcos navigasi.net is so superior. The free mapping community in indonesia is equally good as Malaysia haha.. Philippine free mapping (Garmin) is here. i used their maps way back in 2008 when i was there but it's not as good as M'sian or Indonesian maps:
http://roadguide.ph/forums/

Till now, there is still no South Korea maps both for Garmin & Ovimaps sad.gif .. I used paper maps & subway maps for Seoul when I was there biggrin.gif
