I am from Miri too. Did you get it from Kings Audio. I was looking at the Paradigm Atom monitor which is around Rm1100. But then came the KEF Q300.

KEF Q300? Think that one is slightly above requirement of TS need of compiling <1k bookshelf Speaker.... Maybe the Q100 can still fall within the range on the upper side....
I am waiting for a chance to hear the R Series when it will hit our Malaysia shores... I wanna hear the Blade but dont think any will come to our shore, and Muon.. that one sure will indeed be a dream....

I understand that Atom is normally used for surround. How's the sound when it is used for LR?

Can any kind handsome and pretty sifu reply back the retail prices for Epos m5i & Mission M31i as reference for future potential buyers?

Also, please also suggest any good speakers under your possession or have been auditioned for under RM1K.

I intend to make this post for as a reference for me and future buyers.

Let's make it a better place to lepak.

Added on November 29, 2011, 7:34 amAdded Mordaunt-Short Aviano 1 in the list. Aviano 1 is a new China made speaker I found and sounds so "hifi".

Hi there!

Maybe you can tell us the amp you intend to drive your speakers with? and if you strictly prefer brand new (china-made) as opposed to second hand speakers (uk-made)?

Cheers:)

What about we begin with affordable consumer grade 7-channel AV such as Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo with 100-120W output.

Talk about price, why not stick with new price since used speakers like those are rather hard to come by.

For near field purpose, you can try the Fountek K3, personally I loved this full range speaker very much, neodymium magnet speaker driver (FR89EX). But you have to order it from oversea. biggrin.gif

Wharfedale 10.2 is a pair of good speaker. Unfortunately, we couldn't secure one so far to do a A/B comparison.
However, we did compare with Ascend CMT-340 and definitely Encore edged out the former in high and low register, with warmer signature. On the other hand, former AV123 has done some comparisons and it concluded that the Encore can definitely match those around USD1000.

We did invite some speaker veterans for auditions and even sent a pair to psvsound for reviewing, all make an identical conclusion: it is not a 1k or 2k signature, but 3+k.

In fact, Encore is designed upon reference of Aerial Acoustics Model 5 loudspeaker. Surprisingly, one of the local reviewer was able to correctly guessed that that.

Let's me show you the comments, they are in Chinese ...

RM3k??
