Yess, atlast here come to soccererss (sp.?) with more powerfull magic :-)

heh heh... sorry if my train of thought is confusing... i also confuse myself at times...

what i meant was maybe i have to feedback to Samsung FB about this silly draft message thing. previously, i also feedback to them about camera apps not being able to start when battery is at 15%. they said they will forward my feedback to dev team... dunno if they really will or not is another thing...

anyway, to explain the draft message thingy...
Attached Image
Assuming i have a conversation with Digi like the above. if i press and hold the digi thread, like erymanthus said, only got view contacts and delete thread option.

if i view inside the conversation, this is all i get...
Attached Image

to delete that draft message (its the message with the word 'OK', i need to delete the word OK. if i had typed more... i need to delete everything inside. so far, the fastest way for me is to double tap on that message, select ALL, then press delete button.

i was wondering if there is an easier way to delete the DRAFT message... like press, hold and select 'delete message'.

luckily these days i seldom save draft messages...

thanks all for the feedback and confirmation. i wonder if IOS suffers from this as well... and i wonder if it is the same for other android devices...

here's another round of checking with fellow users...

i noticed the wifi on the phone is not stable... what i mean is...
* i can connect to the wifi network
* internet via that wifi network is confirmed fine as other machines connected to it can surf the internet
* but on the phone, it shows connected but its not able to surf the net, retrieve RSS feeds, connect to game servers... i just get error messages.

i noticed that when this happens, i just off and on the wifi again. and i normally leave wifi turned on. <--- btw, is this a good practice?

Is this true?
Samsung copied iPad design and is blocked from selling in Europe.
Will this affect samsung tab launching here?

not surprising... but to be honest... there's been more concerns with how patent trolls are abusing the patent system to earn quick bucks... if you have been following news... tech companies are buying up patents and suing one another... apple sued htc and there's a possibility of apple winning. however, htc also sued apple and there's also a possibility of winning... in the end... its like if you got more patents and suing more times, you win.

no surprise then that google recently 'bought' some patents from ibm... and bad mouth MS + Apple and said they are suffocating Android.

in EU, Samsung blocked from selling... In AU, its similar though if later on its proven that Samsung did not copy or infringe on anything, Apple will pay Samsung for the loss of sales incurred.

for those who are into statistics... it is based on some numbers i collected over a few weeks.

on average...
* charging rate over USB is at 1% for every 3 mins. it works out to about 20% per hour.
* direct charging (power socket) is at 1% for every 2 mins. so, it's about 30% per hour.

note that the above stats is based on stock rom with some processes like rss reader and tweedeck updates at every 15mins.

for idle discharging with same background process as above -- rss reader and tweetdeck set to refresh every 15mins + some incoming sms, etc but NO calls... it is about 1% every 20-30mins. can safely say that it's 2% per hour. so, overnight (hrs of sleep time), for me... i can expect the battery to drop by 15% or so...

posted here few days ago abt wanting IP4 or SII..

just got SII yesterday....
am blown away....

still fiddling ard Android....but am slowly liking it...

but right now, am totally mesmerized by the screen......

not thinking of rooting, ROM, kernel right now...using the phone as it is...but slowly, after educating myself more...might take the path too....
all the bros who recommended i choose S2...thanks!
*
welcome... yes... it's a hard decision for people when it comes to deciding between ip4 and sgs2. after all, everyone is on ip4 and earlier androids were not really that mind-blowing...

i've been using my sgs2 for more than a month now and no real reason to really need me to root the phone. stock is fine, though there are 1-2 quirks.

anyway, enjoy... smile.gif

hi guys~ I have this battery drain problem from wifi sharing... everytime I use wifi(the normal wifi, connect to wifi) the wifi sharing and wifi sharing manager automatic run by itself even after I disconnect from wifi and draining the battery...

I did a bit of searching seem to be a bug on 2.3.3 and can't find any solution, anyone have any solution beside killing it manually every time =.=||
*
hmmm... i thought this service starts by itself when the phone starts up? its not normal ? i have this as well in the running service and thought its normal. i restarted my phone a few times yesterday and did not use wifi sharing at all. but did see it as running service... thought it was normal.

just thought i'd share this bit:
http://phandroid.com/2011/08/11/samsung-ou...-naming-scheme/

basically the 'S' class will be divided into 4 new classes:
R - Royal, Refined for PREMIUM models
W - Wonder for HIGH TIER models
M - Magical for MID TIER models (somehow i think Apple's going to sue them for having a magical product -- as we know, only iPhones are magical)
Y - Young-minded for ENTRY models.
QUOTE
Additional modifier will be used to identify specific features. “Plus” will be assigned to phones with small spec embellishments barring no other significant design changes, “Pro” will be used exclusively for handsets with QWERTY keyboards, and “LTE” will specify the presence of next-gen 4G radios.

i guess 'galaxy s' family will come to an end soon enuff...

day goes by and my observation list grows longer... by no means are the major problems, but it just goes to show that more effort needs to be put in by manufacturers and how Android OS is implemented on an actual product.

my list so far:
* 15% min battery level for the camera apps to work
* wifi sharing service (+1 more wifi related service) running in background even though wifi sharing is not enabled
* unstable wifi connection to the point i need to off and on wifi for it to work again
* deleting a saved DRAFT message is not easy... no one click option.
* nerfed gmail apps -- can't attach files other than images files FROM GALLERY. it seems it is possible to attach doc, etc... but it depends on manufacturer.
* BT pairing with another android device can be painful -- dun have 'always trust and accept files from this android device' option.
* Samsung kies -- nothing more needs to be said.
* Samsung dive -- very similar to kies. super half-baked service/ product. thank goodness is free, though another way to look at it... we did indirectly pay for it.
* and just discovered today -- gallery seems to be 'picky' about the photos it wants to list. i have some photos taken on the phone before i installed the microSD card. after putting in the card, i moved the photos from the camera to the card. gallery has decided NOT to show them. to access the files, i need to use File Manager. wth?!?

anyway, just wanna ask again... anyone with Stock Sammy ROM managed to get the new version of Gmail apps? i think last week, new version came out -- 2.3.5. i'm still stuck on 2.3.4 and there is not updates... heck, Gmail apps is not even listed under My Apps.

*
honestly, i'd just take it back... ideally, have a fren with the same phone with me... after the service centre flash, i do comparison on the spot. if not happy, sit there till the fix it.

just curious... what is the official papago site? i saw someone posted on xda forum that papago x5 for android is free...

added:
also, just wondering... how many owners here also have the mount on the car (ala gps mount) for sgs2? which one u use? i plan to get one but not sure if its a one size fit all or need to get specifically for sgs2. plus, my experience with things that has suction caps have not been good... used those clothes hanger with suction caps... usually they all fall off after a while. so worry get the wrong one and it falls off every now and then...

hmmm... i never really wipe my phone that often... but ya... after using the sgp silke... i think i wanna look at something else later. noticed it does not hug the phone that tightly... can quite easily remove by accident.
