SL is known as Galaxy SL,I believe its a slightly downgraded version of S

3.7" is pretty nice for one handed operation. In fact, it's perfect!

Since I'm also doing a research, I decided to list the key points of the phone.
I'm not good with IT and especially not with smartphones.

2) Which screen is better between TFT and S-LCD? I know for sure that Amoled is better but that option is unavailable. And even if it is, it would be at least rm100 more expensive.

3) Is the internal storage important? We can just buy a memory card right?
The RAM is important as well right to gauge the speed of the phone like it does on a pc/laptop. Too bad there is no info available on the ROM for the Nexus S. So I can't really see which is better in this battle.

4) They both have more or less the same specs here except the pixel count.

5) W definitely trumps the Nexus in the video recording capability.

6) W definitely has the upper hand here as well as it's at least 400Mhz faster/stronger than the Nexus S.
But will that make much of a difference to a non-gamer like me?
I only need to check mails, surf, read blogs/forums like lowyat. Is 1 Ghz more than enough for my needs?

I'm also considering a used Galaxy S 1.
Actually that is still my #1 choice.
Or is it not worth it to get a used set even though it is more than RM100 cheaper?
Galaxy S1 has a Super Amoled screen.
Is it worth it to get a used unit for a better display compared to a new non-Amoled like Galaxy W & Nexus S?

Besides looking only at the specs, what other thing should I consider?
Is there a big disadvantage software wise to get an older phone?
Are there updates?
I would like to think so considering that the Galaxy S1 was their flagship model.

you question too general, maybe buy galaxy nexus?

For a used S1 if you can find one with warranty, they go for about RM800. Easily better than Nexus S. Plenty of people letting go S1 now in Garage Sales.

Hi everybody, I need urgent reply....my Nokia N79 broke down and i need phone for my daily work and remain contactable 24 hours.

Help me to get a phone....I've never use smartphone (whatever android, apple, BB etc..)

Budget : < 1 k
Must be reliable...easy to use
Camera must be good, i listen to songs
I'm not tech savvy, so those custom ROM, rooting....way beyond my capability
I play games once in a blue moon.

How is it easily better than a Nexus S? If you mean screen wise yes. But nowadays only used S1's go for 800 or so. New Nexus S's go for 8xx too.

Samsung Galaxy W/Nexus S should do you well. There aren't any 4"> phones at that range. You can get used ones like SGS, HTC Desire S/Incredible S.

HTC Desrie S for the build quality. Camera is decent. If you're picky about the camera, Xperia Neo should be okay too but the bq is not good.

Since you won't root/flash, Desire S should do you better than the latter option.

Galaxy W has good specs. But, the roms and customization for it seems limited. You search for galaxy W roms and you come up with nearly nothing. How much is google nexus s? I saw 2k+ ? @_@

Can go as low as 650 now. Nexus S that is.

Check out garage sales. (Or selected Maxis centers, heard a guy got one for 550. )
