Gosh, I checked my tyre pressure just now with my gf, first time ever since getting my car 2 months ago, front wheels were 38psi, rear were 41psi. Sheez... now my ride is so much smoother and better fc!

Huh? A high tire pressure doesn't cause bad FC. It does kill the tires prematurely though besides a noisier stiff ride.
*
I know right! In fact its quite the contrary. Underinflated tires only give worse mileage. But I tested out my fofi on the Federal, speed all the way back with ETC SP7 with one passenger. FC remained at 8.5l/100km throughout. Usually if I do that alone, the fc will increase around 0.3l/100km... so... I'm quite pleased too haha.

And yes @confuzan, no more bumpy ride, its SOO much better now. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Im an engineering student so this is quite interesting to me... Maybe overinflated tires offer less frictional rolling resistance due to less surface area contact, but makes up for by increasing moment of inertia... But so far i did some googling everywhere doesnt mention anything that supports my statement. I'll try my next full tank of fuel first.

@baboon- its very important to check ur tire pressure as underinflated tires will increase fc n tire wear drastically. U cant see from just observations as the tire will look d same.

still couldn't get used to the fiesta jerking in low gear, especially after going up a slope in my apartment's car park. any tips from any one of you?
*
Stuff I have modded to resolve this problem is... changing spark plugs, adding voltage stabilizer+ grounding and also electronic throttle controller from Bug Auto. biggrin.gif

Thats normal since your engine haven't break in... but 350km per full tank is rather low. I changed my engine oil at 4.5k km and I think it really helps. Oil filter leave it for the 10k km free service change. Now I'm trying to maintain my fc at 7.0l/100km for this week... =D

Hey Bug,

How much did you do yours for? Damn cun!  rclxms.gif

Why thank you! All thanks to Bug Auto. Another major project coming up at the end of this week, Bug hor? brows.gif

bro, did it manage to resolve the jerking problem?I see from your pic that you're using erictioh's vs, i'm using the same thing and it really does help to smoothen the gear change but didn't really manage to to get rid of the jerking.
*
Keen eye tongue.gif You did both grounding and vs? I have a bit of jerking sometimes but its much less compared to the last time without any mods. The change of spark plugs help, also the "Electron Power" plug cables which act as a VS helps too. I think if more grounding points are added it would be better as eric only managed to find 3 points for fiesta 1.6. I would prefer 5 points though.

hey John91, after using ericteoh's VS. what would u say/compare to the other VS out in the market like pivot or hotinazma???

those are bloody expensive becus of their marketing; but does eric's vs really works better den the 2 above i mention?
*
I have used both products (erictoh's and hotinazma) before and I can tell you that both products work well. Bug Auto is using full set hotinazma (type mr, hot earth and super pocket) while I am using erictoh's. Hotinazma's has either 5 or 8 grounding points (I forgot) compared to my 3 points. Hotinazma is a bit smoother overall IMO maybe due to these factors (I don't have super pocket too). I think you could drop by Cheras area to test drive both our cars if you want =p

But for the price difference, I rather get erictoh's because of budget restriction tongue.gif

hehehe, just noticed it...anyway, I only installed a vs because I also couldn't find a good grounding point. I agree that the jerking become lesser and the acceleration become smoother, also I've notice that the aircon becomes cooler as well.
*
Apprarently there are 3 points for auto, and 4 for manual apparently that eric could find. I'm going to ask my friend to find more points for me to ground, I think 5 is optimum. Btw, you need to chip off the paint before doing grounding else the electricity will not conduct properly to your car body.

i adapted to the low gear driving on level ground and managed to keep it under control.

but it seems to behave rather erratically once i finished going up a ramp (high revs and not changing gear).
*
From 1st to 2nd gear change what is your usual rpm? Cuz mine is on a average of 2.8k change... and i'm already controlling it. If i lift my right foot up before that the car will have a slight jerk and noise.

Its normal... but thanks to the throttle controller I can change gears at 1.9k rpm easily... though I don't use that all the time, cuz driving slow SUCKS!

I think you need to reset the trip meter. Usually the car calculates the rate for current trip.
*
+1... The reason why some of you guys get high fc reading may be due to this. You need to reset the data everytime you pump petrol.

ooh.. are you going to use any branded brands or those normal ones?

i used to have those cheapo RM150 ones but then it lasted for like 3 years instead smile.gif

where are you going to change? headlights going to change?
*
Headlights not changing la... no projector also. Later kena JPJ. However I'm using Michiba super white 4350k bulbs now... Although it doesn't look super white, but its a bit brighter la...

Still contemplating whether to buy cheap or branded ones... Cheap ones I can get from 140-170 including installation, branded is 220... both also got warranty. Any ideas? unsure.gif
