Guys.. is the 2010 ford focus tdci version still a good buy? What about the parts and maintenance?

good buy.

don't expect RV for example this 2010 FF TDCI when new would cost around 120k now is only about 60k, halfed within 4-5 years.

ford parts will always be expensive if you compare to Honda/Toyota.

but if you consider cars that can make you smile at this price point of 60k ++ for a used car you'll find things like vw golf gti mk5 and FF tdci, both fun and both turbo, ain't going to be cheap to maintain but it will be worth it when u kapow them boring altis/civic at the highway brows.gif

I am looking at the sedan version. Price for the spares is not my main concern. Its the spares availability and qualified mechanics that concerns me. FYI, I am based in seremban and nilai area..

Ford PJ very long queue, can try jln Ipoh or Ampang
*
i'd recommend ampang, sales manager michael can settle everything for you, very steady.
he gave a huge discounts for the focus tdci brows.gif

Spare parts availability is the problem.
Qualified mechanic couldn't source the parts.  wink.gif

same as peugeot it is a close system.
because of the lack of critical mass.
not every distributor/stockist carry oem ford stuff.
if it is genuine then most likely from ford malaysia which is at a premium price.

Saw some 2011 Mondeo selling at RM60k, is this model worth buying?
*
depends on what you want
car itself is good
spec and performance between japs like camry and conti's like bmw
however the main problem is service and maintenance which can cost as much as a bmw

Hi all,

The problem started 4 months ago and it happened altogether 4 times including last night. It all happened when the speed is slow and rpm is low.
The first time happened when I slowdown (not entirely stopped) letting pedestrian to cross the street and engine died off when I was about to move on. My radio still playing, instrument panel still glowing with almost all the signs light on. I turned off the key and turned it on again, engine revived but I noticed the sound was like as if manual car having hard time changing from gear 1 to gear 2. Similar incident happened twice a week later when I went slow reversing the car, and when I was driving up slope slowly following the congested traffic. I sent to authorized Ford service center, the mechanic told me battery connection, voltage, oil etc were good and nothing abnormal. We went round the streets testing slow speed driving but no abnormality too.
It happened again last week when slowed down reversing to park my car.

I can really notice the jerking nowadays whenever I am at slow speed and it is worrying especially when I am in the congested traffic.

I would like to know if anyone can share if similar incident happened to you before and where should I start from to troubleshoot the issue. Thanks alot.

Hi,

Will the new Everest that'll be launched later this year,  CKD or CBU?

thanks.
*
Ford's pattern nowadays is to launch with CBU and if sales meet MOQ for CKD they will go for CKD.

right now im looking for used fiesta 1.6 hatchback year 2012...but im not really sure want buy this car or not cause of many complain about the DCT...let say if i buy the car, warranty must be over after 5years right...so how much the gearbox if i want to repair or replace it after warranty over?

any advice?

the first major problem with high tech stuff in malaysia is maintenance as malaysians are typically stubborn and cheapskate yet want the latest tech to show off, when CVT's first launch sales was good people show off the great fuel economy of the CVT's from Honda, then when it was time for service they found out that CVT needed special gearbox oil at honda service centers so instead of just following spec many of these stingy & stubborn owners that think they know better and think honda trying to cheat them bring the cars out to XYZ workshop and put normal gearbox oil into the CVT gearboxes.....needless to say the vast majority of the gearbox failures and warranty not claimable are by these lot of people.

generally if it is well maintained the chances of failure is reduced.

secondly driving behavior although tested to withstand most people's driving behavior, if it is well maintained it should still be okay, drive like an idiot and skip maintenance is a recipe for disaster.

thirdly, no matter how good production QC is nowadays there is still the 1% chance of getting a lemon.

here is a quote from the link below:
CODE
It’s been a few years since I’ve driven anything with Ford’s PowerShift dual clutch transmission, which launched in 2010 with more problems than an algebra book, some of which were real, while others were imagined by customers.

Ford made the mistake of calling the PowerShift an automatic, without explaining to consumers that the transmission was really a manual transmission that is shifted automatically. That blunder brought with it a customer expectation that the PowerShift would change gears just as smoothly and behave exactly the same as a regular hydraulic automatic transmission.

So, when the PowerShift didn’t behave that way, Ford’s complaint lines lit up and its quality scores took a big hit. There were a few initial technical problems that Ford engineers quickly addressed with a combination of redesigned parts and software changes.
