Silly question. During the orientation, what time are we supposed to wake up and what time does the programs at night finish?

Asking cause I was formally a UiTM student, and their orientation was HELL. Woke up at 4 am every day (5 am events started)  and events finished by 1 am in the morning. basically was sleep deprived for the whole 1 week
*
Expect to be sleep deprived during the whole orientation week. I think start 7.00am to 2am. Chill ya. It will be awesome.

I don't think so. I've never heard of such scholarships being offered in UTP.
Normally students with all A+ are with JPA/PETRONAS scholarships already.
If you're private student, then you still have to pay all.

Go for UTAR, pay for the registration first, don't pay for the course. Then, if you get UTP, I think UTAR refund 50% of the fee, get the refund, then join UTP.

Which timetable? Exam timetable? Subject timetable? The change is always for a reason. They don't change it unnecessarily.

Yes, you can. You can change it during foundation as well because the Foundation is the same for all engineering courses.

Hi, I'll going for foundation in engineering and need to register on 16/5.. Who is with me?? smile.gif

So I've some questions to ask.. ok.. they're silly questions though..

1. Do we need to bring broom and mop to the hostel?
2. Are there any stuffs that are not allowed to bring? ex: kettle, iron..
3. Any advice for us, the freshies who are going to attend the orientation week?

Hope you guys can answer my questions~ thanks! smile.gif

1. yep, if you want to clean your room regularly. i personally bring vacuum cleaner because i can't tolerate dust (ashtma sigh)
2. kettle and iron sure but no power hogging item such as washing machine, refrigerator, those electrical cooking pot and the list goes on. (some of us do bring em in but wen the guards do their spot-check, they'll confiscate it)
3. nothing really, just enjoy the fun thumbup.gif

Dear newbies to UTP,

First of all, congratulations! You'll enjoy the conducive environment very much! There's tons of eye-opening experiences for you, be it people or work. Don't let the bad management by UTP deter you, it's still a good university.

And somethings that you really need to know...

1. We have monkeys here. They have been doing really naughty stuff lately, like stealing car plates. Others include ravaging your fridge or food stock. So remember to close the window!

2. Cats. Personally, I hate cats. Close your door if you don't want to step on cat shit!

3. Umbrella is important cos you'll be doing a lot of walking! Guys from V6 is the furthest from the lecture rooms and the plus side, there's no "roof" to shelter your path from V6 to the lecture halls!

4. Bring a broom! It's really dusty here! You'll be cleaning your room every few days once.

5. Bring lots of 50 cents if you want to use the washing machine. Or... lots of cotton buds. Ahem.

6. Also, it's 80 cent if you want to fill up your 5 litre bottle.

7. Bring collared shirts. If they ask for casual wear, you can wear collared shirt and jeans. For presentations, wear formal of course. But strictly no checkered shirt cos that ain't no formal wear.

8. Ladies, do bring some toe-covered flats. But I am pretty sure most ladies have these in their collection already... Yea, and sport shoes. (Duh)

9. UTP is really hot too sometimes so sleeveless shirts also is a must. Kalau nak, bring a standing fan cos UTP's ceiling fan is not enough =.= I have a friend who bought a standing air cond haha.

10. Also, bring a pair of slippers for the communal bathroom. You'll need this, trust me.

11. Going to orientation week? Prepare for sleep deprivation. And lots of fun.

12. We have plenty of clubs here. And the students are event-crazed planners. Every month we have events! We have clubs like:
AIESEC
ROTARACT
SYNTECH
English Club
International Club
Engineering Organization (There are international clubs!)
And so forth...

Personally, I am from Heart of Tronoh (HOT). We are a campus bulletin free-to-join club. The best part? We're fully sponsored by UTP and our issues are now in the National Library, fully stored and stuff. Real cool? Heh. And it doesn't stop there! Well, just come to UTP and you'll see!

Phew. I think that's all. Yea, enjoy UTP! I'm already in 2nd year... Man, time flies.
