I received a call from 603 5882 4388, on 9 Feb 2018, 1:03PM, from a female staff of Hong Leong bank with an email kasturik@hlbb.hongleong.com.my that says a person transferred a sum of RM 1057.72 into my account from Maybank accidentally on 2 Feb. The staff request me to prove this money belongs to me or else the money will be transferred back to this said person.

I called her back at 1:38PM, because I have some serious question:

*
1st, DO NOT INTERACT with these ppl over the phone, regardless of severity or tone of the speaker.

2nd, CALL BACK TO OFFICAL LINE to enquire, but also NOT TO APPROVE/CONSENT any transactions.

If the bank can prove something hanky-panky in your account, and it's a legit request, nothing should be settled over the phone. send official letter or meet face-2-face.

if still unsatisfied, escalate to BNM and HLB directly.

you had so much questions on their professionalism, but were you aware that you could've been TRIGGERED by scam calls/ppl?

1) deal thru official channel
2) get the facts, as clear as possible, in B&W if possible

No more Instant Transfer fee for e-payments below RM5,000 from July 1, 2018

http://www.thesundaily.my/news/2017/12/08/...000-july-1-2018

KUALA LUMPUR: In a bid to facilitate migration to the e-payment space, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has announced that the Instant Transfer fee of 50 sen for transactions below RM5,000 made by individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be waived, effective July 1, 2018.

"To drive the migration to e-payments during the transition period, the Instant Transfer fee of 50 sen will be waived for transactions up to RM5,000 per transaction made by individuals and SMEs effective July 1, 2018," BNM governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim said in his keynote address at the 2017 Payments Forum & Exhibition held earlier today.

He noted that cheques are a costly payment option compared with e-payment, given its processing cost of RM4, in contrary to Interbank GIRO and Instant Transfer which would only cost around 30 sen per transaction.

The usage of some 120 million cheques in 2017 has translated into an enormous cost of RM484 million, which Muhammad deemed as a sheer wastage to the economy.

However, the usage of cheques has declined 42% since 2011 from 205 million to 120 million in 2017.

In view of the high processing cost for cheques as well as to hasten migration to the e-payment space, Muhammad said cheque fee will be hiked from 50 sen to RM1 from Jan 2, 2021 and "gradually thereafter to reflect the actual cost of cheque processing".

Meanwhile, the central bank has issued an exposure draft on its website, in which it had outlined the proposed requirements for the Interoperable Credit Transfer Framework (ICTF).

"To encourage Quick Response (QR) code payment, avoid market fragmentation and broaden financial inclusion, BNM has issued the ICTF for consultation. The ICTF aims to connect both banks and eligible non-bank e-money issuers to ensure reachability of bank accounts and e-money accounts," Muhammad said.

"For the first time in our history, customers of both banks and non-banks will soon be able to transfer funds across the network seamlessly by just referencing the mobile number and IC numbers of the recipients or scanning the QR code of the recipients," he added.

The platform to facilitate the shared infrastructure payment service, known as Real-Retail Payments Platform (RPP) is currently being developed by Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) and is slated for completion in June 2018.

PayNet which is the merged entity between MEPS and MyClear will be the operator of the shared payment infrastructure.

Yesterday, 28 April, I made transaction from Public Banck(PBe) to my current account on CIMB.
I received the message immediately from Pbe show that my transaction is successful. Only when I want to withdraw from CIMB, there is no money.

1) First time I'm calling Public Bank, the staff stated that the matter will be resolved within 24hours, due to MEPS problem.

2) 2nd time I'm calling after a half day, the staff change the reason, stated there is no problem with MEPS but there is an issue with 'timed out' and told me that there is several same issues happen today.

3) This morning I'm calling again, after 24hours, they said it will need 14 working days to be solved, because there is a problem with system, and the problem with CIMB, but I have already called and verified with CIMB, there is no other issues like that notified to them yesterday.

Aaaa, when can I have my money back, this is so frustrating.
*
QUOTE(zyaniey @ Apr 29 2018, 04:41 PM)
Is it true that I'm gonna have my money back after 14 days?
*
you didnt say you used IBG or Instant Transfer?

assuming IBG, do you know that IBG doesnt work on weekends?

reading 1) and 2), there could be issue with MEPS, hence the fund is floating there. the "14 days" is just the standard SLA number of working days to resolve, it doesnt mean on-the-dot 14 days.

try wait for few more working days (e.g. tomorrow Monday by noon). if no fund received in CIMB by evening, call PBB CS again. not much you can do cuz the money flows from PBB -> MEPS -> CIMB. if there was maintenance with MEPS, the fund could be still floating, hence the transfer would still need to go thru CIMB to complete then transaction or refunded back to source at PBB.

Secure2u Authentication for RM20,000 Transfers and Successful Transactions to be notified via Push Notifications

Dear Valued Customers,

Effective 9th June 2018, Maybank will be introducing two new security initiatives aimed to enhance customers' security while performing online banking with Maybank2u:

1) Secure2u authentication is required for transactions with the value of RM20,000 and above. This will be carried out across two phases, with the second phase being for transactions of RM10,000 and above.

2) SMS will be replaced with Push Notification to notify customers on their successful transactions. For the first phase in May, customers will receive the status over SMS and Push Notification at the same time. In Q3 2018, the delivery of SMS will be ceased and customers will receive the status via Push Notifications only.

If you have yet to register Secure2u at Maybank2u App, please click here on instructions on how to register for Secure2u.

For more information about Secure2u, you may refer to the Secure2u FAQ here

Thank you

From 1 July 2018, instant transfer fee below RM5k is waived right, what if i transfer multiple transaction for example RM4000 X 3 to make it RM12k to my credit card? is it still waive or not?
*
no details yet since we dont know if there is daily limit or not.

if only per transaction waiver and without any limit, then multiples of rm5k transfer fee could be waived.

that is only the base guideline announced by BNM.

different banks could've different implementation. CIMB, for example, waiving all fees (IBG or Instant Transfer) for any amount.
