Dear Uncle benny, i'm using XXKG3 as well. Do you experiencing the phone auto shut-off without u notice it? I need to start up manually.

Dunno isit the XXKG3 bug or what. I'm using leaked XXKG1 before this but didn;t encounter this problem.

I've calibrate the battery using BatteryCalibration but still d same. Any one can enlighten me ? Should i flash back 2 KG1 or KG2 ?

Thanks !  notworthy.gif

I have used the stock XXKG3, and cooked versions based on it - Litening 4.2, Bastito 3.2 and now Solar Flare v1.0 - NO such issues at all.

No ; you misunderstand. He wants his wife to sign in on her gmail on his old phone which is using his Gmail ID
Of course you can use your own Gmail and sign on more than one phone ; I am using one same gmail on my SGS2, my GTab, Dell Streak, Iconia etc

TQ bro, Factory reset is goto setting and set to factory default?
This will wipe clean the phone (as if the phone is come out fresh from the box) right?

Or need to do software reset and hardware reset like Benny post in Page 1 Post 1 ?
*
Do a hard reset or another term being factory reset - all your data will be deleted. You can easily do it at settings/Privacy - select Factory data reset

I am on original stock XWKF1 and hopes to flash to XXKG3. 1st question is do I have to flash XXKG2 first before flashing again to XXKG3? 2nd question is which is the correct version XXKG3 to download from, XDA or Samfirmware or elsewhere. I know some unfavourable remarks will be forthcoming, but I am thick skin and dumb, so please point me to a appropriate site and spoon feed me.
*
You can flash direct to XXKG3
So far the official version is at samfirmware.com. The one at intratech ( XDA) is a frankenstein version

In nokia no need to press back, back so many times. Just press >option > exit. All done.
My only problems is the browser itself. Very slow like kura-kura ~~lol~~
*
Why use stock browser ??? Hopelessly slow and features lacking. Switch to Dolphin HD - highly recommended

If you wish to flash a cook rom based on XXKG3 - try Bastito 3.2 or SolarFlare v1. There is nothing great n exceptional about Litening 4.2 except it will not wipe your phone

Salah-lah !! Thunderbolt 2.7 is the rom develop by AngeloM - it comes with his own kernel version 12
Download the firmware from here:
http://www.batista70phone.net/xwke7-1-1-de...-me-t15459.html

Bastita70 v3.2 is using AngeloM kernel test version 12 and in his latest thread he has a link too to AngeloM kernel test version 13

I am presently using stock XXKG3 with AngeloM kernel test v13

Uncle Benny have u try on the Bastita 3.2? What is the Different between it from the Thunderbolt 2.7 in the Italian Website by Angelom? How was the overall performance and battery life? Thanks and appreciate ur information.  smile.gif
*
Yes I have tested Bastita 3.2 only a day but took it off as I do not like his theme ; other than that it is very stable and good. I'd say is better than Litening 4.2, at least in battery usage. Litening 4.2 is a big drain versus Litening 2.1
I have not tested AngeloM 2.7 yet but I am using his latest kernel test v13 with my current XXKG3. AngeloM firmwares are also very good and again I do not keep it long as I find his themes too flashy and I just hate his boot animation ; don't know whether he has change it in 2.7. Maybe will try it later tonight

was trying to flash..it failed..so i shut my hp..and when i on it..then there is like a comp and a hp connected with dots..in between it has a warning signal..is it brickd?wat am i suppose to do????
*
Have you unbrick it yet ??

Anyway when you see such a logo , it means your phone is still in download mode, capable of recieving flash instructions

If you switch off your phone or take battery out and than and switch it on on or boot to download mode or recovery mode - you will still see the same logo ( phone--computer). Your phone is in a soft broick condition. You just need to launch Odin , connect phone to computer - it will be detected , just flash it again as normal. Suggest you flash one of those official XXKG2 or XXKG3 or even XXKF2 just to revive it. Than only flash what you really want

Uncle benny, so far I used litening 4.2, very good for battery life.not sure why u say it drain battery badly.maybe u are heavy user?
*
I said compared to v 2.1. Yes i am heavy user - my 3G is always on 24 hours - refresh/update data my email, RSS, newsfeeds, tweeters, browsing , MSN-Skype, GPS etc every 15 to 30 minutes
So for me using up 3 GB data is easy every month. You will also be shock at my data usage - just a day in Spore my data roaming charges for just one day hit around RM 1500 ; highest recorded was in May - RM 2250 just one day roaming data charges. But as I subscibed to Celocm postpiad unlimited package - i need not pay for these roaming - it is auto deducted monthly

I just use his default boot animation which comes with the firmware. What do you mean " how to load" ?

Did you flash the Angelom 12's kernel through CWM using the zip file? I did it that way and it says "zImage not found"
*
You have to flash it through recovery mode ( use the hard buttons). You cannot do it using the CWM app - this app is actually buggy - it doesn't work for all roms

Cannot remember the name - subscribed it since 6 years ago - I pay RM 98 for data unlimited and RM50 fix ( for calls/SMS) . Charges for roaming apply for calls/sms/mms and charges apply for calls/SMS exceeding RM 50. Charges for data roaming excluded but will be shown in bill

Post the link where you download this Rafael stuff ; if is a zip file - just flash through recovery ? ( extracted showing folders data, system, meta-inf)

Have been reading this forum for the past 4 days, still cannot differentiate between the below:

Kernal
Firmware
Root

Any one mind to shed some light pls? or maybe point me to a site where i can find clearer answer.
*
Page 1 post #5 is your answer

Analogy using a CAR : Root is the KEY to enter your car and open up the bonnet to tinker with the engine. KERNEL is the ignition starter that interacts between your key and the car engine. Firmware is your whole car engine system

I flashed to Angelom13 kernel. Quadrant scores were much lower compared to Ninpo's kernel. On the first run 2900, thereafter increased to a max of 3200. With ninpo's can get till 3800.

What I notice during the Quadrant test was the framerates dropped a lot.
*
AngeloM kernel is not performance kernel unlike Ninpo. You use AngeloM kernel to have better battery savings. You are comparing a BMW ( ninpo) with an Accord ( AngeloM)

You have failed installation of USB phone drivers. If you have installed KIES - launch KIES - at top of menu - select Tools/Install Driver again

WRONG
you use recovery to install firmware in zip format
if rom is in tar format you use odin to flash

TQ Benny,

Can educate how to backup existing ROM pls?
*
Just boot into recovery - depending on what type of CWM you have installed : select Backup or Nandroid and select Restore/Backup

I'd strongly advised you do backup and restore through the hard buttons way ( vol up/home/power ) rather than using the CWM app, which is not reliable as its functions affected by the rom you have

And after backup, do rename the backup file to something you understand, example I used 2907Litening42 - date of backup/rom name n version

If you use the CWM app to backup - you can change the proposed file name first before executing the backup

OH OK TQ bro.
So my backup procedure is correct, that will be a relief hahhaha.

In case my phone mati, i can restore the entire existing rom back and it instantly back to its original state.

So after flash to new Litening rom, no need to do anything on the Kernel oledi right?
The new Litening rom also installed new Kernel right?

Sory for asking so many question.
*
That is because you did not bother to read the rom features properly. You are just shooting in the dark and hope to strike

You cannot see such a list ; you can see the contacts file though if you can access /system folder using root explorer
Why would you want to do this?? You can easily edit your contacts from the contact app
Your phone must be rooted to access system files

You should sync your contact to your Gmail account. Anytime you change phone, just use GMail to sync back. Keeping contacts file is old tech - the days of symbian, windows mobile - nowadays everyone use the cloud and is file-less and paperless. You can sync anytime, anywhere

What rom are you on and the baseband and kernel ?
Did you reset your modem to test gain ?
Did you try testing it at other WiFi outlets ?

I never think that changing rom will affect its WiFi capability. I have tried and tested so many types of roms and varying it with numerous kernels, yet to ever face a situation wifi has problems .

actually benny, this afternoon i read through the whole speedmod thread and it is said that speedmod+VR will infact affect the wifi, they cant connect it and it will be stuck at obtaining ip address unless you set it with static ip. So such cases do exist, i experience it myself too with one version of lightning rom same condition, when i upgraded to another version, the wifi works
*
I am only quoting based on my experience flashing all the various types of roms and kernels. It is exactly same scenario with all my other Androids - Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak, HD2 on Android, Atrix, etc - never faced any wifi detect issue at all with all the various roms/kernels I have gone through. WiFi detection is always instant/immediate. Only issue I have faced was my ex Xperia Arc and that was because of its hardware limitation which do not detect wifi channels above 11
